Posted January 30, 201213 yr Surprised there hasn't been a mention of this yet, especially with the Australian Open over the last two weeks. I have to say, the men's final was fantastic, not of the quality of Wimbledon 08, but more in terms of stamina shown by the pair of them. Djokovic has really elevated himself to a level I thought he'd never achieve even 12 months ago. Murray played one of his best matches in the semis, and I actually fancy him for the US Open. Good to see Azarenka win in the women's too, she'a a player I've always liked. Still can't believe Sharapova is only 24 :o
January 30, 201213 yr FINALLY. I was thinking of starting a tennis topic but I figured if there wasn't one yet then there might be no interest. Anyway, hurrah for a place to express thoughts. The Aussie Open was a mixed bag for me. Decent showings for Gasquet, Lisicki and Maria I guess but Maria disappointed me at the same time (YOU'RE CAPABLE OF BEATING AZARENKA) as did Kuzzie, Petrova (sigh), Nadal (Djokovic is the Nadal to his Federer now isn't he? :( ) and Wozniacki. I don't see Murray ever winning a major right now.
January 31, 201213 yr Hmm watching the US Open Mens has given me a couple of headaches. Djokovic is phenomenal, absolutely world class. Not a better player in the world right now. Federer still has Grand Slams left in him yet. Whilst Nadal may have figured out his game completely, Djokovic and Murray still continue to stuggle against him. Murray will win a Grand Slam, soon. He threw the match against Djokovic with a silly, easy shot in the 4th set. He's becoming a lot calmer. New coach must help. Nadal will be the firts player out of the big 4 to drop. There's no way he can continue his game for another 4/5 years like the others can.

There's no way he can continue his game for another 4/5 years like the others can. I agree with this really. I hope Federer can win more big titles, he's still by a distance the greatest player I've ever seen. Djokovic has an uncanny habit of winning the big points but he doesn't look as unassailable as Fed ever did when he was #1. Nadal will hit burnout before too long, Murray has the ability to win a Grand Slam (that's always been obvious) and his best opportunity could be when Nadal has bowed out to injury and Federer is truly over the hill. However, I'd be disappointed if he didn't win one before then. I think this year is the last one possible where each of the four could win a single Grand Slam, the most likely scenario being: (Australian: Djokovic) French: Nadal Wimbledon: Federer US: Murray
February 6, 201213 yr While Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer are in the same major, Murray just doesn't stand a chance sadly. Murray is talented it's just unfortunate that there's a tri-battle of power for the top, even if Federer is starting to slightly fade.
March 19, 201213 yr Author Federer beats Isner in the final of Indian Wells to draw level with Nadal on 19 Masters Titles. He is also moving ever closer to taking back the #2 spot from Rafa. I'd love him to keep this run of form going and possibly even get the last 2 weeks at #1 he needs to surpass Sampras.
March 19, 201213 yr Normally I'd be against Federer being #1 but if it means someone knocks Djokovic off then I'm Team Roger.
April 5, 201213 yr "Wozniacki releases terrible charity single" http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/world-...-132124034.html LOL This is really terrible!
May 29, 201213 yr Has anyone been watching on the French Open it is now broadcast on ITV this year. Serena Williams lost in three sets to Virginie Rassano of France in the first round. Serena let a 5-1 lead in the second-set tiebreak slip away. The final game took 25 minutes!!. Rassano finally won on her 8th match point as she won 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 Who do people think will win the French Open in the mens and womens singles?
May 29, 201213 yr I reckon the womens' title is between Stosur and Azarenka although they both can't make it to the final. Maybe Bartoli could be a surprise winner. Edited May 29, 201213 yr by ✞✞✞
June 5, 201213 yr Cibulkova defeated in two sets by Stosur. :( She played well though! Hoping Tsonga can somehow defeat Djokovic to make it into the semis. I love watching him.
June 5, 201213 yr The women's draw is crazy as per usual. Maria seems like the obvious name to come through and I'd love that to happen but based on, well, the entire sport at the moment, it'll probably be Errani. Who to be fair looked like a tough little cookie in her defeat of Kerber earlier. I caught a couple of Ferrer's games and I'd be surprised if Murray can get past him tomorrow, he's on fierce form.
June 5, 201213 yr Maria looked really shaky to me in her fourth round match, it was some pretty awful tennis. She can probably manage a win against Kanepi but if she meets Kvitova I reckon she's toast. But then nothing seems to be going the way I predict at the minute! Tsonga up two sets to one though! (16 75 75) :D
June 5, 201213 yr Maria does go to pieces very easily - if there's a player with much brain across the court she's easy to take down because her game is so one-dimensional. But I like her anyway. Gutted for Tsonga, those three sets were magnificent but it all ended so damply. :( Also bummed Federer won, we were looking at some exciting results for a while and now it's just so routine.
June 5, 201213 yr On the strength of today's game I'm pretty sure Sam Stosur would destroy her. Who knows though.
June 7, 201213 yr Sara Errani beats out Stosur in 3 sets (7-5 1-6 6-3) to become only the second Italian woman in a French Open final ever!
June 7, 201213 yr Third year in a row that there has been an Italian woman in the final. Good on Sara for making the final.
