September 12, 201212 yr I think Mo connected with the public more imo. Reckon it will be Farah-Wiggins-Murray as the 1-2-3.
September 12, 201212 yr I think in a year of brilliant British sporting achievements, Bradley Wiggins does manage to stand above the rest with what he's done. I do think that Mo connected more with the public, however there was a huge amount of connection with Wiggins when he won his gold. He went from a great British sportsperson to a bona fide legend. He's rightly favourite and I will probably cast a vote for him, the first time I've ever voted. The only thing I thought may go against him would be how competitive cycling has been and his rivals would be there but honestly I don't think there will be any others apart from Hoy in the final 10. Two of the last four have gone to cyclists, an excellent chance it will go to three of five.
September 12, 201212 yr It's impossible to pick 10 from a list containing these names: Alistair Brownlee Andy Murray Ben Ainslie Bradley Wiggins Charlotte Dujardin Chris Hoy David Weir Ellie Simmonds Greg Rutherford Hanna Cockroft Jason Kenny Jessica Ennis Jonnie Peacock Katherine Grainger Laura Trott Mo Farah Nicola Adams Rory McIlroy Sarah Storey Sophie Christiansen Tom Daley Victoria Pendleton That's discounting the 'usual' names like Ronnie O'Sullivan, AP McCoy and Phil Taylor who've also had great years again and would probably normally be nominated. + with the Ryder Cup, World Title Fight and F1 title wrap up these can be added as potential final 10 possibilities. Carl Froch Graham McDowell Justin Rose Lewis Hamilton Luke Donald If I had to pick 10, I'd go for Murray, Wiggins, Hoy, Weir, Simmonds, Ennis, Peacock, Farah, Adams and McIlroy. Wiggins > Weir > Murray my top 3.
September 12, 201212 yr Certainly the usual token inclusions (e.g. world snooker champion, a footballer, a cricketer) will be absent from the list this year.
September 12, 201212 yr You'd hope so. Oliver Holt of the Mirror has confirmed he's voted for Frank Lampard as his sole footballer though... Assume that votes by each institution are a combination of various people within that though not sure.
October 14, 201212 yr Well done to GB's Heather Watson who become the first British female in 24 years to win an WTA singles title with victory in the Japan Open after beating Chinese Taipei's Chang Kai-chen on a tie-break in the final set. 7-5 5-7 7-6 (7-4) What a fantastic moment for British female tennis and a good month for them with Robson reaching the Guangzhou Open final last month and reaching the fourth round of the US Open. What a bright future for British tennis with two of the highest prospects for Britain in the woman's tour doing very well at the moment and climbing up the rankings.
October 14, 201212 yr Oh that's fabulous, and just when it looked like Laura was beginning to leave Heather behind.
November 14, 201212 yr What do you think of the presentation of Andy, this season i think that it is presented very well!
