March 11, 201213 yr Author If we were still in the days of televoting only, the grannies would probably walk it seeing as they're from Russia. Didn't 'Get You' finish seventh or something in the televoting and bottom in the jury vote last year? I reckon they could well top the televote this year and finish somewhere between 21st and 26th with the juries. Hopefully. That'd secure a mid-table finish for them, or higher, depending on how well they do with the public.
March 16, 201213 yr Latest odds from William Hill; Sweden - 2/1 (!) Russia - 6/1 Denmark - 10/1 Serbia - 12/1 Italy - 12/1 I really feel like Loreen's going to not only win, but win in a big way. Russia are being slightly overrated, Denmark are being way overrated, Serbia are probably about right and Italy are being a little underrated I feel. 2/1 two and a half months before the contest though, insane - did Fairytale even have odds like that?

I genuinely don't think Sweden will win. I do really like it, but something about it just doesn't scream out "winner" to me. Too dancey perhaps? After France's ridiculous odds all the way up to the final week last year, I think it's safe to say the bookmakers can get it very wrong. I think the odds for 'Fairytale' were about this low at this point too weren't they? I'll dig around and find the old thread! Edit ^_^ Yep...here are the March 18th 2009 odds: Norway 7/4 Greece 4/1 Montenegro 8/1 Turkey 10/1 Malta 10/1 Azerbaijan 12/1 Sweden 16/1 United Kingdom 18/1 Russia 20/1 I remember Montenegro being really high up at one point...they soon dropped after a brief spell that high!

I don't think that it being too dancy will go against it, different genres seem to win each year and it does scream winner to me, in the same way that Satellite and Fairytale did. I always kept my reservations about Sognu because it was just never going to be a hit anywhere (ok Running Scared wasn't but it sounded like it could have been at least!), but Euphoria's already proving its worth in that respect. Last year was an off year I reckon, who on earth could have predicted those results? For some reason I'm expecting the juries to not be so 'pro-ballad/anti-hit' this year. Sure there are some classy ballads in this contest but I really feel like Euphoria offers more than just class (which it offers in spades, it's a rare example of a classy dance song - much like Titanium), it's the whole package.

Last year was ridiculous. Italy finishing so high could never have been predicted! It even came tenth in the public vote didn't it?! Obviously I think Sweden are in with a shout, but right now I'm thinking Italy. Maybe I'm just being biased because I love it and I love her, I just think Nina Zilli will absolutely nail it even moreso than Loreen. I don't really see which other entries could win though. Russia are likely to do well, but they shouldn't get much help from the juries. Serbia's borefest will pick up some eastern votes but will be largely ignored by the west, Denmark is being completely overrated and will be lucky to finish top ten in the final and Spain may have the best ballad in the competition, but again, I could easily see them missing the top ten. Azerbaijan's odds are very long right now too...I wouldn't be too surprised if they pulled a big one out of the bag again at all. I just hope we don't all wake up on Sunday and realise that five grannies (and Dima Bilan?!) have snatched the victory and brought the UK's vision of the Eurovision back to what it was, after the last few years of it steadily losing its novelty value...
March 17, 201213 yr I'm confident that the grannies won't win, and you're right - if they did it would really undo what the past few years have done in the UK, and once again would be seen as a laughing stock in the UK. I think Nina has a very good shot at coming top three, it will do well with the juries (oddly, I'm not expecting it to do as well there as Madness Of Love did, despite it being a far superior song) and probably top 5/10 with the public. But I'm quite confident that Loreen will win the jury and public vote and that there'll be no contest to speak of. But we'll see I guess, I suppose I'm guilty of being blinded by my own love for something too which makes objectivity very hard, but it really does feel like the next big winner to me. It won't be as big as Fairytale but I think it will be bigger than Satellite. 300-ish points I'm predicting for Euphoria. Whatever wins though, there's absolutely no question that Euphoria will be the big international chart hit from this year's contest.

Is it still not on iTunes though? Because you know full well that it'll be album only on the Eurovision album...
March 17, 201213 yr Author Just had a look though, and previous Swedish Eurovision entrants always get a single release (Saade's was on 12th May), so I'm hopeful this will as well.

Fingers crossed that it gets added before the contest then, or that it's not album only! I will NOT be happy if we have another Satellite situation, but I'm confident that lessons have been learnt in that respect and that it won't happen again. If juries prevents Loreen from winning, then I wish they go deaf. Last year's juries clearly were :drama:
March 17, 201213 yr I really dont see Sweden winning, i like the song but would agree with others who said it doesnt have a winning sound to it at all, i can see it doing well but il be shocked if eurovision comes from sweden in 2013. I think Rominia are gona do alot better than the odds suggest, they wont win but a top 5 is possible, Azerbaijan the same, they usually do fairly well anyhow and hosting sometimes brings in a few extra votes. As the odds are so low on paddy power i put my bets on already and with some lopng shots I got Greece at 25/1 Bosnia 66/1 Rominia 33/1 Azerbaijan at 40/1 Ireland 8/1 I done each way bets on the above, i would have done the same with sweden but they aint worth betting on with the odds at the moment, im temepted now to put something on Italy aswell, i have €1 left to spend in my account and i may just do Italy and that will be all my bets done and dusted for Eurovision 2012. March 17, 201213 yr If Euphoria doesn't have a winning sound to it then certainly nothing else in the contest has a winning sound to it.
March 17, 201213 yr I agree, what more could Euphoria possibly need to give it 'a winning sound'! I don't believe that the fact that it's from the dance genre is an issue just because we haven't had a dance winner before per se, who'd have thought that a rock song could ever win the contest? But it did in 2006. Or that a Non-English ballad still could. See 2007. There is no 'winning sound', there are quality entries that stand out from the pack due to being original, different, quirky, modern, instantly catchy etc... I've learnt never to write anything off in Eurovision, if one entry towers above everything else in both hype and quality (subjective of course) then it would be foolish to write it off just because it doesn't tick a couple of boxes that other recent winners have. Either way, it has far more of a winning sound than Believe and Running Scared ever did!
March 20, 201213 yr am i the only person not feeling so 'euphoric' ?? shameful but it had to be done lol - no but seriously, its not THAT good isit?
March 28, 201213 yr I like Euphoria but believe it is vastly overrated, its like many forgettable songs that appear in the charts and it is this reason i dont think it will win.
March 31, 201213 yr I personally think Sweden is a sure fire win right now, and I wouldn't be surprised if it went over 300 points. Sweden 3.25 Russia 6.50 Denmark 15.00 Italy 15.00 Serbia 15.00 Ireland 17.00 UK 17.00 Spain 17.00 Germany 23.00 Four of the big five in the top 9 favourites Not Bad, not bad
March 31, 201213 yr am i the only person not feeling so 'euphoric' ?? shameful but it had to be done lol - no but seriously, its not THAT good isit? Yep, it is - and especially given Eurovision standards, disturbingly good! I have high hopes for a win for Sweden this year, but my gut feeling says it will be very close to the wire with Spain.
April 7, 201213 yr I dont know, im split over euphoria, i like it but dont think it is anything special. I think if it wins it will win by a clear mile, but then again i can also see it not winning.
April 17, 201213 yr Author Has anyone noticed Italy's odds shortening? They're above Russia now on Betfair at 19/2 to Russia 21/2. ^_^
