I'd say you're completely right.

54. CEREMONIALS- Florence + The Machine (384,500)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/fe/Ceremonials.png

RELEASED: 30:10:11

PEAK POSITION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 9

CHARTING TRACKS:

SHAKE IT OUT (12)

WHAT THE WATER GAVE ME (24)

Whilst their debut album took 6 months to make it to No 1, sophomore set “Ceremonials” was an instant No 1 with sales just short of the 100k mark. Florence Welch (lead singer and natural brunette) is naturally the focus of the group and has stated that the album was designed to be a lot less indie and a lot more soulful, whether a success or not on that front, initial sales indicate this may be heading towards the million mark like its predecessor.

Ceremonials will be in Top 40 very soon!! It has already sold 469.000 copies and it's very close to the 40th album. It's very good for Florence because she hasn't very successful singles at this time of year but she has great material of music!! Well Done!!

04. CRAZY LOVE- Michael Buble (1,639,200)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a1/Crazy_Love_cover.png

RELEASED: 19:10:09

PEAK POSITION: 2

WKS ON CHART: 104

CHARTING TRACKS:

HOLLYWOOD (11)

HAVEN’T MET YOU YET (33)

CRY ME A RIVER (65)

TOTAL SALES: 2,836,600

And here’s the other album to be with us every week, “Crazy Love” has fought “The Fame” every step of the way sales wise, being the 3rd best seller of 2009 and 2nd biggest of 2010, and total sales have now exceeded Gaga’s at 2.83 million and for all of that it has managed just one week at No 1. It really has made Buble an A list player on the album front at least, a fact re-affirmed by his Christmas album, the existing sales should see the album end the decade nicely in the top 100 even if it doesn’t sell another copy!

03. LOUD- Rihanna (1,716,200)

RELEASED: 15:11:10

PEAK POSITION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 59

CHARTING TRACKS:

ONLY GIRL (IN THE WORLD) (1)

WHAT’S MY NAME? (1)

S & M (3)

CALIFORNIA KING BED (8)

CHEERS (DRINK TO THAT (15)

MAN DOWN (54)

The 15th Of November 2010 saw the release of 2 of the top 3 albums of the decade so far! Yes Rihanna went head to head with Take That, a race which right from the off she was clear to lose, and that Sunday there she was at No 2 with a healthy sale of 91k, clever girl though, she simply bided her time that Christmas and once new year came round she slipped quietly to No 1 and enjoyed a full half year from the off in the top 10. All of which isn’t to say that it wasn’t selling big over the interim period, indeed in the Christmas week it posted the seventh highest total ever for an album at No 2, impressive.

02. PROGRESS- Take That (2,325,700)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9f/Tt_progress.jpg

RELEASED: 15:11:10

PEAK POSITION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 50

CHARTING TRACKS:

THE FLOOD (2)

LOVE LOVE (15)

KIDZ (28)

HAPPY NOW (52)

And this was of course the album that went head to head with Rihanna and defeated her, and in doing so sold 518K in its first week, the second highest weekly figure EVER behind “Be Here Now” by Oasis. It rushed to sales over 1.8 million in just 7 wks . Those sales were in part due to the return of Robbie making the band a five piece for the first time since 1995, and a June 2011 re-release tied in with their first tour together since 94 and Father’s day, result? A return to the top of course, despite those sales it isn’t their biggest seller, it’s still some 300k short of “Beautiful World”.

01. 21- Adele (3,772,346)

RELEASED: 24:01:11

PEAK POSITION: 1

WKS ON CHART: 49

CHARTING TRACKS:

SOMEONE LIKE YOU (1)

ROLLING IN THE DEEP (2)

SET FIRE TO THE RAIN (11)

TURNING TABLES (62)

Jaws drop to the ground I’m sure as you all find out that this is the current best selling album of the decade to Dec 2011. A full 1.4 million copies clear of the rest field the records that this has now acquired is certainly impressive, it’s the album by a female soloist that has spent the most weeks at No 1 (consecutively and cumulatively), that sold the most copies, the first album to sell 3 million in a calendar year, and I’m sure about 50 other chart records! Its success wasn’t confined to just the UK though with the album peaking at No 1 in almost every territory in the world including the US where all three singles released have made No 1, a truly amazing feat for UK Female artist.

Thanks to all who have contributed their thoughts on the albums and you'll see this thread in another 10/11 months time when we'll add in 2012's sales to the mix!
I'd say you're completely right.

Ta :)

Yay :yahoo:

Am right though i thought rihanna and buble would be the other way round

Matt Cardle - Letters is already in this list if you count the sales of last two months. He has sold almost 260 k and i doubt if all of these albums would have sold at least 4 or 5 thousand copies..

Slightly more in the bottom half than the top, as I expected. Two of my three albums of the decade made it, although the next few are nowhere to be seen :(

Hehehehehe, it's something like intuition..Nice to share it..I like Matt Cardle too. I like his voice and his songs. Shame that "Amazing" didn't have a decent chart position.
