February 17, 201214 yr Author anyone know where Madonna is in the Friday update? She isn't in the 40, she wasn't there on Weds, she would have been listed otherwise.
February 17, 201214 yr She isn't in the 40, she wasn't there on Weds, she would have been listed otherwise. I know she isn't top 40, I was wondering if anyone knew where she was today
February 17, 201214 yr I know she isn't top 40, I was wondering if anyone knew where she was today You might want to rephrase that - makes you sound like you want to stalk her...
February 17, 201214 yr The Michael Andrews version is far better. I find it insipid compared to the original.
February 17, 201214 yr Just Googled Rita Ora and she was born in (what is now) Kosovo - how exotic. Fair to assume she's the first Kosovan artist to top the UK chart?
February 17, 201214 yr Author oops I forgot to mention we only have a top 39 in the singles, as Maroon 5 is listed twice in the MW database, the square box is shaded as re-entry, my guess it could be Adele Rolling In The Deep ???
February 17, 201214 yr Hmmm, perhaps we wont have a 100k+ top 3 then - Emeli will probably only just scrape past if she does it at all (if she continues with roughly the same average per day then she's on course for about 102k - but then again sales are higher on Friday and Saturday than Wednesday and Thursday I think?) so Gotye will have to be extremely close to make it. Still, the top 3 sales are going to be really good anyway, I'll just hope for Gotye to beat Lou Monte. DJ Fresh's #1 is absolutely certain now if he's extended his lead by nearly 25% since Wednesday :D Gotye could well be back at #1 next week as he's close to taking back #1 combined on iTunes. Challengers (apart from DJ Fresh and Emeli Sandé ofc) are Gym Class Heroes and maybe a potential Someone Like You moment at the BRITs which I think is unlikely. #40 must be Rolling In The Deep if it's highlighted as a re-entry, there's surely no way it could have dropped since Wednesday - I'm surprised it hasn't climbed at all especially with a few of the Whitney entries dropping out but maybe it can push a climb in the last couple of days. Probably no return to the top 40 for Someone Like You unless it's currently #41 and can knock out 'One Moment In Time' (is there anything else that could creep into the top 40 by Sunday?) Fair to assume she's the first Kosovan artist to top the UK chart? And she was in the UK Eurovision selection the year that Jade did it for us. We should send Hot Right Now to Baku :kink: Anyone know where Cher Lloyd - Want U Back is in the Friday update? Precisely nowhere :P That is to say not top 40. I've decided I quite like Cher Lloyd's personality - it's just a shame her music is awful (IMHO).
February 17, 201214 yr I find it insipid compared to the original. I find it poignant and arresting. I still remember the first time I heard it in the cinema at the end of Donnie Darko. It was one of those moment.
February 17, 201214 yr Author Birdy, Redlight, Swedish House Mafia, Katy Perry, RIO, Madonna, Maverick Sabre and M83 have dropped out of the 40, unless one of those is #40, but I doubt it as the box is shaded as a re-entry
February 17, 201214 yr Whereabouts is Madonna in the singles chart? The song is already top 10 in the U.S. Strange that it hasn;t done better in the UK. Usually she tends to do better here than in the US...
February 17, 201214 yr Good to see Nicki already #20! Hopefully she'll knock One Direction out by Sunday! I'm actually surprised that they're still in the top 10. I also hope 'Turn Me On' might just scrape top 10.

Still impressive for Gotye incresing sales for the 7th week in a row - wonder if they will retreat next week - this week must be its maximum week of exposure on radio/video airplay!

Usually she tends to do better here than in the US... I know Madonna did a lot better in the UK than US during the Confessions era. Not sure about follow up singles though but I heard she is doing better in US with the current song.
February 17, 201214 yr I find it insipid compared to the original. I think the cover works far better with the song's theme, it just doesn't sound right sung so fast, kudos to Tears For Fears for writing such a great song :P the top 2 could go over 100k this week then? :D well deserved, both great songs
