I wonder how much of us all assuming that Italy can easily win with a half decent song is because they finished as high as 2nd with a really crap one last year and are therefore now expected to be jury darlings forever more

They did only finish 11th with the public last year, but topped the jury vote rather comprehensively. Past experience says that we can never predict Eurovision based on what happened the previous year, it wouldn't surprise me if the juries revert back to their 2009/10 style of voting for the songs that sound like chart hits, rather than last year where they seemingly went for the complete opposite.

I do think that Nina will be top ten with the public, and top five with the juries, so maybe 3rd-6th overall, but it doesn't particularly strike me as a winning song that will be remembered for years to come. Euphoria fits that criteria much better.

I agree with Rich, I like the song and think the public will connect with it more compared to last year and it will very likely do great with the juries again. Another 2nd place could be on the cards but I think it's still very much Loreen's to lose and I don't see Nina getting past her, Loreen sounds a lot more like a winner [if that means much, given some winners that may have not sounded like one].
hey, I like this  it will be a really great contest and it's good to see that the 'Big 4/5' are back on track in the last few years with making good choices.
Wow! I like this song alot more than Per Sempre :D
LOVE LOVE LOVE. I think I love this even more than 'Per Sempre'. Gahhh. Italy to win.

I agree, this Italian entry is a bit too ordinary to win it. However, Top 5 placing sounds very likely.

I've basically spent the last sixteen hours having a mince to it.

Same. Prancing around town with it on repeat thinking I'm Nina Zilli strutting round the streets of Rome with a skinny latte. This song is too amazing... I cannot wait to see a live performance of it.

Oh DAVID, at least my mincing's been in private! :D

Public mincing is far more satisfying Tyron, especially with the amazingness of the Zilli. I managed to put a bet on this at 33/1, well impressed considering how much the odds have shortened.

Oh I KNOW, I just screamed earlier after seeing her odds had tumbled as I just couldn't spare a tenner to put a fiver on Italy each way when the odds were long :arrr:
STORY OF MY 2011 (both the betting and the mincing -_-)

English version, presumably the official contest version. Get a real Caro Emerald feeling from this. GUARANTEED top 5 IMHO, even with the middling draw.

Oh you're right, it is very Caro, clearly a GREAT thing! Will probably go higher on iTunes than any of Caro's singles ever did here ironically.

Still can't believe the odds are below 10/1!

Almost all confirmed foreign entries end up being translated to English every year, certainly all of those from Western/Scandi countries save for France, Spain and Portugal. I become more shocked if they DON'T translate them.
Glad some of it is staying in Italian. I just LOVE it. Definitely my favourite this year!
