OH MY GOD

Episode 9 was SHIT THE BED AMAZING. Quite possibly one of the best hours of TV I have ever watched. The acting, the writing, the direction, it was SO TENSE, just wow. Cersei in particular played an absolute blinder throughout, from the scenes with Sansa right through to that super emotional final scene, only for the WAVE of relief to hit as they walked through the door. Tyrion was incredible too, that rousing speech he gave to the troops was just brilliant. The wildfire looked fab when it was set off too.

Drunk Ceseri was brilliant. Really thought she was going to be a Mrs Joseph Goebbels and kill her son.

That scene with the wildfire was just out of this world. So brilliantly done, looked so authentic. I knew the Lannisters would win, as it would be too easy for Stannis otherwise. It will be in interesting to see what happens now though, cos I assume that was Stannis' men telling him to retreat at the end.

So many quotable lines. The Hound and Bronn got to do the most acting they have in ages. I wonder what The Hound is going to do now, now he's deserted the Kings Guard. Such a shame there's only one more episode left.

Blackwater was some of the best TV ever. The wildfire was amazing and I was so happy they got the green flames in! And jeez...Charles Dance is just brilliant as Tywin. I mean, one line and he almost stole the episode!

Really don't know how they're going to fit everything into the last episode. There's way too much; Jon with the wildlings, Dany in the house of the undying, Theon in Winterfell and then whatever happens in Kings Landing.

This season has been good, but I think episodes 7 and 8 were really weak. I'm guessing they're saving things so they have an action packed last episode compared to last season, when episode 10 was a bit of a comedown after Ned's death. I just don't think they needed to do that though, there is enough going on with Jon and Theon to fulfill the action quota. I would've cut Jaime's ridiculously long scene in the cell and cut the Robb and Dr Quinn scene and got Dany to the house of the undying in episode 8. Then, in episode 10 her scene with Arstan and Belwas would be a nice place to leave things.

I think it's gone from strength to strength personally, episode 4 was the weak one for me I think, it dragged a little. Episode 8 and 9 were simply incredibly, the acting and storytelling is second to none on TV right now. I love the character based episodes though which episode 8 was in bounds, it gave so much to Tyrion and Cersei.

Episode 10 looks almost impossible from the trailer. It seems to be trying to cover about 10 really important moments, I do hope they (and have faith that they WILL) do it justice.

Curiously, the trailer doesn't really seem to show anything of Theon which is odd as it's not really a story they could drag out into the third series very effectively.

I just want to know what cliffhanger they will end us with. Guess it will be Dany and the dragons again.

Guess they've got:

Aftermath of Stannis' defeat

Jamie & Brienne

The Stark's probably hearing of Bran & Rickon's "deaths"

Brann probably leaving Winterfell

Dany

Jon Snow and the wildlings

The Lannisters

Arya

Guess that's a lot, although some coverage will be paid more than others. I can't remember what least seasons finale was like, I'm sure they paid more attention to some stuff than others.

That just superb. Brilliantly paced. I loved Theon's "Tyrion" speech before his men bashed him on the head. Wonder who burned Winterfell down though? Doubt it was the Greyjoy men.

And that scene at the end ARGH WHITE WALKERS AHOY. The music was superb, poor Sam, I thought he was a goner, obviously not!

Hmm, it wasn't quite as good as episode 9, but it was still pretty fantastic. The scenes of Dany with the dragons and then her locking complicatednameman and Hollyoaks BITCH in the safe were my favourite, but obviously the final scene with the white walkers was a big wow moment too. The horse with half its face gone in particular looked fantastic, it's nice to see proper good CGI like that in a TV show when it's usually really cheap and nasty (HIYA every single ABC show). The scenes with Tyrion and Luwin were quite lovely too.

The music really adds so much to it at times, like the stuff with Dany - the various variations on the theme popping up at specific points is great, it certainly made it feel all the more powerful.

I thought it was better than Blackwater. The pacing was better oppossed to here's some kick ass fighting, now here's Cersei being drunk :D Just can't believe it's another ten months. I like a lot of TV, but this is really the best of the lot I watch. All round quality.

I don't know, I think the characterisation, especially of Cersei and Tyrion, in Blackwater was fantastic. Obviously the explosion/battle was great too, but both of those 2 are pretty much my favourite characters at this point. Tyrion's speech to the soldiers and especially Cersei's dark conversation with her son are just so far beyond all the visual flurries in the world.

I don't have a favourite character, I really do like the majority of them. I used to hate Joffery, but now they've fleshed his character and explained his idealisms are basically the product of and incest child I actually feel a little bit sorry for him. There's no way he won't die at some point, just because I think his death would offer up so many potential storylines. I should have Tywin, but Charles Dance is brilliant. I think a lot of the characters are brilliant, and I suppose the one I really slightly dislike is Robb Stark. Just because he is a man of honour, like his father, and look how that turned out for him. His naiveity will blatantly lead to his downfall. They kept mentioning his marriage to the other House in the final few episodes, surely they're not going to be best pleased. And the woman he married, it was hinted she is not who she says she is.

Yesterday I watched all 10 episodes in one go. Agree that Blackwater was the standout episode. Neil Marshall certainly knows how to direct large battles on a small budget and Lena Headey was wonderful throughout.

Since people have been talking favourite characters then aside (obviously) from Tyrion I'd plump for Daenerys, Baelish and Cerci. However I was immediately rather smitten with Ygritte. Probably in the minority here but she's an absolute minx. I'd never have had Jon Snow's resolve!

Biggest disappointment is only the enforced wait for the next series.

I've finally seen episode 10 and it didn't disappoint AT ALL. Really pleased that Daenerys featured more heavily as her storyline has really felt disconnected to me this series and they seemed to turn it around in a direction that puts her back on track to feature more heavily again.

Poor Theon :( Obviously I knew it was coming but it was still sad to see... although I still don't think they've properly explained the back story for Ramsay for Theon's future storyline (if you can call it that) to make sense.

Episode 10 was definitely VERY GOOD but not as good as 9. I thought the scene with the dragons killing that magic dude (idk know his name) was a lil anticlimatic.

Luwin :(

I only started watching Game of Thrones about a week ago but have since finished both seasons - really gripping series! Daenerys is my favourite character, I can't tell you how pleased I was when her brother died, despised him! I actually think I shed a tear when Khaldrogo died. Joffrey must die too, but he's easily the main protagonist I think, so they'll keep him for aslong as possible.

Like somebody else said I can't believe we have to wait another 10 months for the next episode. :( I'm actually tempted to read the books just to find out what happens next. Oh, I despise Cersei and Jamie too. <_<

I can assure you, you're far from the only one to feel that way. Heck I even asked a friend who read the books, what the chances of a nude scene with her were. Apparently she's not in the books though, so not much help there.

She's definitely in the books and there's definitely chance of a nude scene... in a cave maybe...

CASTING NEWS

Some of the casting news had been previously announced or at least speculated about but I might as well round up all the names in one post. Clive Russell (Sherlock Holmes) will play Brynden "The Blackfish" Tully, the estranged uncle of Cat and renown knight vital to Robb's cause.

A lot of fans have been eagerly awaiting the casting got the next character and Tobias Menzies has been brought in to play Edmure Tully. Edmure is Cat's younger brother as well as the new Lord of Riverrun and Menzies is a great actor probably best known for his role of Brutus on Rome. He was my favourite character on the previous HBO series and I'm excited to see him in the cast. Will need to find some red hair though.

Another exciting announcement, even though most fans were pushing for Maggie Smith, is Diana Rigg being hired to portray Lady Olenna Tyrell, perhaps better known by her nickname, “The Queen of Thorns.” Thorns is Margaery and Loras Tyrell's grandmother and a strong matriarch for the House of Flowers.

Mackenzie Crook, who is probably best known for being comic relief in Pirates of the Carribean but to me he'll always be Gareth from BBC's The Office. A great character actor, Crook has been brought in to play a wildling character named Orell. But more than just a wildling raider, Orell is also a warg (or skin-changer) which means he's able to enter the mind of other creatures much like Bran can with Summer.

And speaking of Bran, Season 3 will finally see the appearance of the Reeds, a pair of teenaged 'Crannogmen' whose father fought alongside Eddard Stark back during Robert's Rebellion. Unwaveringly devoted to the Starks, Ellie Kendrick (Anne Frank in the 2010 Masterpiece production of The Diary of Anne Frank) has been cast as Meera with Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Love Actually) playing her younger brother Jojen.

Next come a pair of Baratheon ladies. As previously reported, Kerry Ingram will be playing the role of Shireen Baratheon, Stannis' sickly but very smart daughter (but no mention of who will be Patchface). However, her mother, Selyse Baratheon (Florent) has also joined the ensemble with Tara Fitzgerald set to play the part. Stannis' wife is a devout believer in the Lord of Light and is often left behind or shut away from the world. How else can Stannis get his groove on with Melissandre.

Three members of the Brotherhood Without Banners have also found their actors with Paul Kaye playing Thoros of Myr, Richard Dormer as Beric Dondarrion and Philip McGinley as Anguy. Thoros of Myr is a Red Priest (yes, for the Lord of Light) and I know Kaye from his role as Frankie Wilde in It's All Gone Pete Tong. The leader of the Brotherhood - the group sent by Eddard to apprehend the Mountain, Gregor Clegane - is Beric Dondarrion, a great warrior known as the Lightning Lord who will be played by Richard Dormer. Beric made a brief appearance in Season 1 but it wasn't Dormer playing the role. Anguy is the Brotherhood's skilled archer and McGinely had a small part in Prometheus.

It's been long rumored that Kristofer Hivju, from the remake of The Thing would be playing role in Game of Thrones but, because of his red hair, I always assumed he'd end up a Tully. Nope, Hivju has been cast as Tormund Giantsbane, the number two wildling behind Mance Rayder. He's a great warrior, known for his imposing stature and giant beard.

The final two characters to join the cast are similar in that they both serve their powerful Queens. Nathalie Emannuel (Hollyoaks) has been added to the ensemble as Missandei, as a young slave she was educated by her masters before ending up in the service of Daenerys. The other addition is Anton Lesser as Qyburn, a Maester of the Citadel who was stripped of his chains and ends up being very important to Queen Cersei Lannister. Sorry, Queen Regent Cersei.
