There have been some suggestion on DS Forums that they would be a good act to have/rumours that they might represent us. What do you think?

I think it's a possibility they could with a new single coming out conveniently around the time of the show, Making The Video is with them (as could BBC One?). They've continually said about exciting things coming up, could Eurovision be one of them?

It would also be a great way to launch themselves into the European market before they tackle America!

I'm afraid they wouldn't make much out of it. Yes, it gives great exposure, but it rarely translates into long term success (specially in the UK), and that is if they end up in the first positions and they are appreciated on their homeland. Look at Jade Ewen, she was #5, nothing less, and her solo carreer was bombing even before releasing her lead single.

Besides there have been other girlgroups in the past years (I remember a Romanian one with outfits reminiscing the nature) and none of them have attracted much of media's attention.

They are not on that point of their carreer. At the moment they have more to lose than to win.

And lose what little career they have left?

That's the thing, they aren't too 'massive' to do the contest, they are the sort of act I could see actually doing it. It does seem convenient with the single and Una has been a backing singer for Ireland before so I wouldn't rule it out. Radio 1 tends to snub Eurovision entries but I could see Radio 1 snubbing them from the next single Eurovision or no Eurovision. It gives them exposure to Europe and they aren't that successful so it's not like they have some huge career that will then go down the drain.

(This is coming from a fan of both the group and Eurovision though so of course I'd be all for the idea)

Why on Earth would the Sats want to do this? Except for a few die-hard fans, the UK see Eurovision and it's contestants as a joke.

As a result, most of the acts fade into complete obscurity after they've been on the show. Why exactly would you want this for them?...

Very few come out of eurovision with a living career, for some acts they have nothing lose, Sonia, Blue, Nicki French, Scooch etc had all diseappeared and Eurovision was like a quick fix of fame for a short while but they had nothing to lose by doing it. I think from UK entries in the last good few years Gina G was the the only act to hold onto a career for a good while after ( i still wonder had she not had such a dud recording contract and a quicker 2nd album would she have last longer) but in general an act like the Saturdays would probably have more to lose than gain. In general the Saturdays are having no problems haveing hit singles its the album they struggle with and all eurovision would do at best is provide them with another top 10 hit.

There are rumours that Atomic Kitten are going for eurovision, it would be more suited to them as they havnt been around in years and even though the rumors have been denied i would actually like atomic kitten to do it. Us Irish have jedward again this year so i think that will UK ratings again for eurovision like last year and i think jedward will make the top 10 in the final again this year.

The Saturdays won't be doing Eurovision. It's going to be Engelbert Humperdinck!

Please can The Sats say they'll do it? :P
