I have never been to Matalans , is that a bit like Pennys

Yes. Exactly like that.

Have you ever made a Clooty dumpling Jups

I tried but it all flopped and was really yucky. It ended up in the bin. My granny used to make them all the time.

Dumpling clooty?

Went out with my nephew & kiddes yesterday afternoon for a meal , it took three restaurants until we could get a table & believe it or not we have a recession here or so they say anyway -_-
There used to be a Pennys in Hamilton. Years ago. It was cheap n cheerful. It's now a Primark. -_-
and what is a

Dumpling clooty?

Sparkle, how will you possibly cope when you emigrate to Scotland? You are clueless when it comes to things Caledonian. :(

Cloot is a Scottish word for cloth. Clootie comes from that. This type of dumpling is wrapped in a cloth. Hence Clootie Dumpling. ^_^

Well, whaddaya know....I was right in me research on a clooty dumpling....
There's also a Clootie Well. I've been there. Nothing to do with dumplings though. -_-
