Yes, that's why I put Mirakel next to it! Because it's a Mirakel that you sent a nice song.

Mirakel? Mirakel!

Maybe we've both got over our mutual hatred of each other's entries. Aside from last month where neither of us were keen on the other's entries we've swapped points pretty much every contest for the past six months or so :o Who knows, maybe I'll be kind to Eledan again?

Mirakel.

Taking bets on how long Euphoria can remain at #1? :P Excellent chart.

Thanks Eyes!

Ah yes, next step Eurovision win please Loreen, and then global domination  Yeah, I guess Mirakel did well to come 7th in the televote at least...wish it could have done better overall...ugh, I don't know what the Swedish public saw in Thorsten Flinck at all! Horrible. I thought you'd have rushed to listen to that Nightwish track before anyone! It's really nice, you've converted me into something resembling a fan of theirs!

Haha, I have no idea how long Euphoria will last at the top, still 7 weeks to go before it even equals any records!

Boom boom!

And you still didn't receive a full 12/18 from me in 38 contests (if only Mira qualified!) :o Crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrazy. Mirakel.

Indeed, the one time I'd have been on course for the unthinkable and Pavel's favourite goes and DNQ's :drama: I've sent MUCH worse entries than that that came top five even, so I'll never get why that one had to DNQ :( Oy, oy, oy. Mirakel.

Have you heard the clips of Mirakel in different languages, it's thoroughly amazing! Oh really, 12 points from Hendinia then? :P It's not often that I don't get to the entries that I want, purely because nobody's usually heard of the songs/artists that I send before the contest, I rarely send tracks that are even partly hyped, so I'm not that fussed to lose Laleh. I love Wild Love anyway so I'm quite happy with it as a replacement!

Oj oj oj! (Yes.) Shame it came dead last :( True, I don't know where you get them from. Yes it's still good :D

The thought is lovely. *plays Euphoria for the 4th time today* (and I've hardly started)

I meant to check out The Heart Asks Pleasure First as soon as it was released, but I've been rather busy this week, and I completely forgot, so when I saw it in your chart, it gave me the impetus to get off my arse and go to Youtube. Ha, that's great to hear, I've only been fully on board this era myself, but it's an exhilarating ride (on the carnival of life *.*) all with lovely music to go with it.

Indeed. Mirakel. :(

Fair enough, I do that too, I still find it hard to believe you don't have a secret source though

Isn't it just

I even downloaded it on iTunes from the single EP because I couldn't find an MP3 of it anywhere! Ah right, I should probably check out their greatest hits at some point, although I have a few of their older tracks on my iPod.

Inte Mirakel :(

If only :P Nah, looking at my last few entries - Eric Amarillo and Chart Music - Scandipop, Ria - iTunes New Zealand, Katie Cole - Radio 2 playlist (), Lise Karlsnes - Scandipop, Elsiane - an old favourite, Adaline - youtube, Prance Faris - Scandipop, Gossling - youtube. So blame Scandipop for a lot of them!

Hi Richard :D

1. Loreen - Euphoria (1) (CR-1-1-1-1-1)

2. Björn Ranelid feat Sara Li - Mirakel (3) (CR-2-3-2)

Popularity Bars

llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll 1. Loreen - Euphoria

llll 2. Björn Ranelid feat Sara Li - Mirakel

Well, with pop bars like this it makes me wonder what the sales figures are like!!! I'm really glad that Loreen has won Melodifestivalen and will be representing Sweden at Eurovision. Surely this will survive the semi final process? (it better had  ). More interesting to that your #2 this week barely did anything last night. I still think 'Mirakel' sounds like there's a good song in there but Björn talking nonsense all the way through it just makes it really embarrassing. You may call it a "hot mess". I prefer to call it "crap...apart from Sara's chorus". :D

5. Gossling - Wild Love (4) (CR-4-4-5)

Holding up really up but unable to grab that #1 spot due to the massive love for all things Melodifestivalen. Although now it's over and done with, maybe this will rise to at least #2 next week? :o

7. Gotye feat Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know (6) (CR-60-48-44-39-OUT-27-19-13-9-2-1-1-1-2-2-3-3-2-5-6-7)

8. Emma Hewitt - Colours (13) (CR-17-13-8)

Two stunning tracks. Gotye heading a fourth week at no. 1 in the UK is fantastic - the first single of 2012 to sell half a million so far. Keep going, this has so much potential to become a million seller by the end of the year. :D As for Emma Hewitt, I think you already know what I think of 'Colours'.

18. Katie Melua - Forgetting All My Troubles (NEW) (CR-18)

I've not heard this anywhere. Even 'The Flood' seemed to get more airplay around the time of its release. I guess UK media are just not interested in the Melua anymore. Will have to check this out on YouTube. Is it typical Katie Melua balladry, or more interesting like 'The Flood'?

28. Goodwill & Hook N Sling - Take You Higher (41) (CR-41-28)

I'll be interesting to seeing how Goodwill fares over the next fortnight. Interestingly, I've found myself liking this more with several plays. Not that I didn't like it on first listen but this has grown on me quite a lot. :D

69. Azealia Banks - 212 (Re-entry) (CR-31-26-OUT-38-OUT-22-OUT-69)

I'm sure Pavel will be delighted to see his former BJSC entry become a massive worldwide smash. Have to admit when this made #1 in my chart, even I didn't think it'd take off as much as it has done. Again, it proves that with a media push (radio/tv airplay) anything can become a hit. Just a shame that such radio stations are so playlist heavy and don't allow themselves to play more tracks - especially tracks that have taken off in several other countries.

Sorry for hijacking, but I've been thinking about this for awhile, do you think there would be space in the UK radio market for a station that plays the latest European hits? Even if it was just a show for an hour a week on a local station, I still think that there would be a market for it, and there might end up being a few breakout hits, leading other stations to take notice... or am I just dreaming?

Hi Richard :D

1. Loreen - Euphoria (1) (CR-1-1-1-1-1)

Thanks Hits :D

1/2. Euphoria was by FAR my favourite track of last week. Mirakel, as much as I love it, was never going to do much in the final as it's too niche and novelty so I'm not too bothered about it coming last. And there's no way it will miss the Eurovision final :o

5. Yep, it's holding up well, although I'd be surprised if it gets as high as #2 whilst I'm still in full MF loon mode, I do really love the song and any other time of the year it would have been a two week #1 down to #2 this week

18. You won't have heard it because this isn't Katie's new single, it's a track from her new album that I love (and yes, it's a string laden ballad, nothing like The Flood). Her new single is Better Than A Dream but I don't think much of that, it hasn't even made my top 75 :o

28. It's a definite grower, although I liked it on the first listen too, I do hope that it doesn't end up doing a Gotye in BJSC, although I don't see this seeing that much of a huge worldwide hit in comparison, but who can tell these days!?! Belgium seem to be ahead of the times more than anyone

69. Exactly, the public buy what they like most out of what they are exposed to. Doesn't matter what genre it is, just look at I Giorni going top 40 last year because Greg James gave it a few plays on Radio 1  I wish UK radio weren't so ignorant to so many good songs. It annoys me when people moan that the charts are slow because of a lack of releases. There's not a lack of releases, it's just that most of them aren't getting a proper push.

Sorry for hijacking, but I've been thinking about this for awhile, do you think there would be space in the UK radio market for a station that plays the latest European hits? Yes I do, it's very realistic. Look how popular Dance Nation is, and the Scandipop show on there. People want it and will watch/listen to it, but the UK radio/TV programmers seem very reluctant to want to make it happen :(

I think the problems can stem from the UK's very own record lables. For some reason we have a new artist who breaks through with a bang (Tinie Tempah for example). The problem is that other record lables then want to find their own "Tinie Tempah" so we end up with Wretch 32, Temper T, Devlin, Dot Rotten who are basically all the same. It's bad enough that this happens a lot with US rappers, but now Great Britain is acting like America's lost state. :( It's great to see British artists getting a big media push but when they're all doing the same type of music, what's the point? Meanwhile there are other British acts who are so different that these lables see them as too much of a risk and refuse to sign them up.

So going back to the above comment, I do think there will always be an appetite for European music. Sadly only the "chosen ones" become successful like Gotye. The more people hear a big European hit, the more likely it will increase awareness of the song which means more sales.

For eg, my dad was watching a boxing match on Eurosport last night. After the referee announced the winner, when everyone in the auditorium was cheering you could clearly hear Michel Teló 'Au Se Eu Ti Pego!' playing in the background. Now if Radio 1 had a one hour show in the afternoon playing the biggest European hits, I'm sure people would show interest and these tracks (assuming they're on iTunes) would start to sell.

Hey Rich :D

1. Loreen - Euphoria (1) (CR-1-1-1-1-1) Astonishing run, totally deserved of course - odd to look back on the me that didn't really 'get' this! Everything about last night was glorious - brilliant performance, wonderful personality (she's so cute!), comfortably on top in both votes (although god knows I was tense during the jury results). I don't expect the hype to let down either, surely the one to beat in Baku!

3. Danny Saucedo - Amazing (2) (CR-2-3) I would've forced myself to get to like this better had it won... but now that it hasn't, I think I can properly admit that I don't really like it  Danny's first album was so strong, but he went off track rather quickly for me. Still, shame for him to come close to the win again...

6. Charlotte Perrelli - The Girl (9) (CR-9-6) Realised during the week how strong this really is, even more sadness that it failed so badly! Brilliant production, is the album as a whole worth checking out?

18. Katie Melua - Forgetting All My Troubles (NEW) (CR-18) Is this close to The Flood at all, or back to her old style?

26. Butterfly Boucher - Not Fooling Around Tonight (37) (CR-67-37-26) Glad to see it have a nice rise again! You and Jonjo at least seem to have made a worthwhile discovery here, good enough for me :D

35. Mandinga - Zaleilah (NEW) (CR-35) Really strong choice from Romania. It's surprising more countries don't take popular hits for their entry!

54. Joan Franka - You & Me (47) (CR-47-54) I think I'd like this more on record, the costume really put me off

62. Florence + The Machine - Never Let Me Go (NEW) (CR-62) One of my least favourites on the album, so dirge-like to me. I saw her live on Friday, good as ever but was a little disappointed she ended with this (apparently the set-list isn't the same each night so I just lucked out :drama: )

67. Lana Del Rey - Blue Jeans (NEW) (CR-67) Odd choice of single, but probably still my favourite Lana song so I'll be glad if it does well!

71. The Veronicas - Army Of One (NEW) (CR-71) New song? :o

I love that Gotye is seen as 'European music' when he's from Australia (granted via Belgium!). But I agree, anything will sell if people are exposed to it enough. Ai Se Eu Ti Pego would be huge here if given a proper push, maybe it still will get one? But there are at least 4 or 5 Melodifestivalen songs per year that could be huge here given half a chance and it annoys me that they never are.

1. It is rather bizarre that it took you so long to be won over by Euphoria when you were always one of Loreen's biggest supporters before. I guess it took me by surprise in that respect but it hasn't let up so far, it's amazing!

3. Oh dear, I actually really do like it a lot, it's far better than the plain In The Club from last year which definitely didn't deserve to come anywhere near 2nd. I wonder if he'll enter MF again, maybe in a few years?

6. Yes, yes and yes. Definitely check out the album, besides The Girl and Little Braveheart, there's another GREAT song on there called In The Sun that also has a dubstep breakdown

18. Definitely not close to The Flood, it's an album track - I love it but it's very classic Katie. Beautiful song though.

26. Indeed, definitely one of my firm favourites from this month's contest, so thanks for entering it :D

35. Agreed on all counts, it seems like such an obvious thing to do and an easy way to go about doing an internal selection surely?

54. I didn't see the live final, nor have I watched the performance, I really like the song though!

62. It's not one of my favourites but it's charted alongside its single release. Shame that either one or both of Heartlines and Spectrum will never see the light of day though. And my personal favourite Breaking Down but I'm not expecting that to be a single.

67. It is, I never particularly got into it until I got the album actually. I'd have preferred National Anthem.

71. Indeed, it's hardly 'amazing' but I do like it.
