Posted March 15, 201213 yr This is a great bit of news for Joe and his fans. He has signed to the William Morris agency and is listed under European and European Corporate. This agency is, apparently, the biggest in the world! He is already signed to the biggest label in the world. (Universal/Decca) So Joe must be doing something right despite the pessimistic posts we often get at the mention of his name! WMEE Edited May 24, 201213 yr by Compton
March 15, 201213 yr Yeah read this news yesterday, good news for him. Also wasn't sure whether to start a topic for his new album as it's not released until October but from his many tweets he is writing for it and it will be original songs. Some tweets posted by the song-writers he is working with indicate it's going very well. He has said it won't be classical. Good for him. Edited March 15, 201213 yr by torresgirl
March 17, 201213 yr Author Joe is one of the guests at the Royal Albert Hall on 28 May in Dionne Warwick's concert for World Hunger Day. :cheer: Very prestigious - looks like being signed to WMEE is paying off already! Alison Moyet, Boy George, Tony Hadley are also guesting. Albert Hall
March 17, 201213 yr Unfortunately, he doesnt seem to go away. I suspected he might have vanished into a big black hole by now like many of his x factor predecessors.
March 17, 201213 yr Unfortunately, he doesnt seem to go away. I suspected he might have vanished into a big black hole by now like many of his x factor predecessors. And considering how it started he's done very well to maintain his career. He does it without the support of X Factor or the need for the Singles chart or Itunes too. No mean feat. There's a backhanded compliment in your statement somewhere as he has managed to survive. Edited March 17, 201213 yr by torresgirl
March 17, 201213 yr Author Unfortunately, he doesnt seem to go away. I suspected he might have vanished into a big black hole by now like many of his x factor predecessors. If you don't like him or his music, I suggest that you go away and enjoy the music you do like. I do not understand why people are so negative to someone who is doing what he likes (singing) and what a great deal of people really enjoy. He has cut all ties with X Factor and Syco so give him some credit!

Personally, I don't like Joe McElderry's music, I find him boring and totally uninspiring. I think its a negative sign when all an artist can do is release an album virtually full of cover versions, which arent even very good. Good for him if he has cut all ties with the X factor but his music is still a pile of poop. Edited March 17, 201213 yr by slowdown73

I think its a negative sign when all an artist can do is release an album virtually full of cover versions, which arent even very good. Good for him if he has cut all ties with the X factor but his music is still a pile of poop. As you said that's just your opinion. I myself being a big Joe fan wasn't very fond of a lot of the material chosen for Classic before I heard it. But anyone with any sense can see that it was a way of re connecting him with the audience he lost after Xfactor who wanted to hear his voice and seeing if he could still sell records. He's only 20 and it will be a gradual process re building that. As I said above the next album isn't going to be classical and he is writing songs for it. I can understand people don't like him that's fair enough, we are all different. I just don't understand the amount of stick he gets when there are so many artists out there making a living in the music business who can barely sing a note live that would be far more deserving of stick. He is at the very least a great vocalist (whether you like his voice personally is another thing but I don;t think anyone can say he can't sing). They may have not figured out the best way to use his talents yet but that will come and at least he has some. We seem to be a nation of people that like to kick the talented and champion the mediocre at times.
March 17, 201213 yr Author Well said Torresgirl! In my opening post I put this sentence So Joe must be doing something right despite the pessimistic posts we often get at the mention of his name!. Before you can say "Jack Robinson" someone who doesn't like him comes on and does exactly what I said would happen! I don't bother to go onto threads of artists I don't like or am indifferent to. Why bother?

To be honest I think this just comes down to a few people who were rubbing their hands when he got dropped and can't deal with the fact he's recovered from it and given himself a fighting chance. Good luck to him.
April 12, 201213 yr Author Another step in his career - he is appearing in the finale of Street of Dreams (the Coronation Street musical) when it is on tour. He will be in the Newcastle shows on 29 and 30 May. Apparently the show features a different singer at each of the performances - one who is local to the venue where they are appearing. Joe is the only one announced so far. He is also one of the artists appearing with Dionne Warwick, Alison Moyet, Boy George and various others at the World Hunger Day concert in the Albert Hall on 28 May! He is the only guest singer of his generation!
April 12, 201213 yr I would relish seeing Joe gain a more steady career. He works hard and he has done extremely well to still be around considering how syco treated him. He turned a corner when he gained success with the classic album. The Christmas classic album done reasonably well as it was a very time framed album in a short period market. That said, Joe is not well established enough for fans to feel any level of guarantee that his next release will do well, overall it would be great to see him more extablished as an album seller.
April 12, 201213 yr Glad to hear he's working on original non classical music for his new album, interested in what he will come up with. His debut didn't seem very him, but I did enjoy it.

April 16, 201213 yr Author Joe was at the launch of the Street of Dreams (The Coronation Street musical) today. He chatted about it on Tyne Tees TV and also about the new album and the Albert Hall concert. He was great. :D
May 24, 201213 yr Author Unfortunately the Street of Dreams musical has been postponed as the producers were not happy with the format and it got rather scathing criticism! Hopefully it will be revived at a later date. In the meantime, Joe is duetting with Dionne Warwick at the World Hunger Day concert - he is also singing a solo (or two). I think it is great that Dionne chose Joe to sing with her - they are singing the new anthem for the Hunger Project.
May 25, 201213 yr Author Decca Records announced this today! :D Joe to perform at a spectacular summer party to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant Posted by Decca Records on May 25, 2012 at 16:00 Joe has been officially invited to a summer party on London Bridge to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant. He will also perform for guests on board a Dunkirk little ship, The Viscount, which will take part in the flotilla while raising much-needed funds for charity The Royal British Legion. UK Armed Forces will also join. Some 200 uniformed personnel and their flag-waving families will join guests of The Royal British Legion to celebrate 60 years of the Queen’s dedicated service to the nation, as their commander in chief and patron of the UK’s largest Armed Forces charity. Joe gave this statement following the announcement: "I'm thrilled to be part of The Royal British Legion's salute to Her Majesty The Queen on her Diamond Jubilee. I'm also very proud to be supporting the UK's leading charity supporting Her Majesty's Armed Forces. I performed at The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance last year and it was one of the Highlights of my career so far. I'm very honoured to be invited back to perform for them once again."
