Umi! I'm so sorry! I forgot to reply to your PM with your short-list on :( I've just looked through it now and saw that the Kerli song was on there :o

I'm really sorry, and I hope that everyone else has helped you - it won't happen again if you ask me in future :)

 I was wondering! I assume you would have picked the Kerli song out of that bunch then?

I've just listened through them now! And I would have chosen Zero Gravity of course! :D I did like quite a few of them though!

I look forward to seeing what you've chosen!

Umiiruka's Dear Leader K'Ronikka is proud to announce (albeit a bit late) that our country is being represented by Baron Von Luxxury and Little Boots with their duet 'That Disco Beat' in our first BJSC. The song was not our first choice but was a close second and we hope other countries like it as much as the Umiirukan public do. Listen below:

^_^

Daehun wishes for this track to qualify through to the finals! ^_^

Best of luck :D

After last month's disaster which saw national treasure Little Boots and vaguely liked associate Baron Von Luxxury crash out in the semi finals, Umiiruka have changed tack and are going with Aubrey O'Day's 'Wrecking Ball', which is currently a minor hit on the Umiirukan charts. Listen here:

After That Disco Beat flopped, Baron Von Luxxury and Little Boots were welcomed back with sympathy due to the song and the artists' extreme popularity. This time however, Dear Leader K'Ronikka has warned that a failure to qualify from Ms O'Day will result in "extreme punishment". Miss O'Day is reportedly "apprehensive" about representing Umiiruka. Details about how she was convinced to represent the country in this edition of BJSC have not been revealed.

:D

Lovely entry tbh, heard it prior to this contest and it gives me this R&B Pop vibe from it .

Daehun wishes you all the best for this entry! :cheer:

The citizens of Umiiruka are REJOICING after finding out that Aubrey O'Day has qualified for the final of BJSC! The results were tense but Aubrey's song 'Wrecking Ball' was announced about halfway through, much to the relief of the Umiirukan citizens and miss O'Day, who had reportedly been taken captive by government officials for the duration of the results. Dear Leader K'Ronikka has now announced that the target for the final is a top-half finish. Umiiruka's airports have been closed until the final is over in case of any escape attempt from our representitive.

Many thanks to anyone who voted!

Daehun is delighted to have Aubrey joining us in the finals as we have charted your song on our personal chart. We bid you the best of luck on the results :D

After the shockingly strong performance of Aubrey O'Day in BJSC XLIV, bringing home 11th after being predicted for 3rd last (!), Umiiruka had a tough time selecting an entrant for BJSC XLV but is proud to announce that French artist Shy'm will be representing the country with her new single 'Et Alors!', already a top 5 hit in the country's charts. Listen here:

Umiiruka is hopeful that Shy'm can deliver another placing for the country in the final, and Dear Leader K'Ronikka has announced that she will not be punished if she fails to deliver a strong result. Ms. O'Day is currently recuperating after what she calls a "stressful" time being the representitive for the country in the last edition of BJSC.

:D

Fantastic entry there, although I have heard of it previous already and charted in my own chart. I wish you the best of luck :D

Umiiruka has qualified for the final of BJSC for the second time in a row! Shy'm's 'Et Alors !' went into the semi results as joint favourite from semi 2 and had perfect predictions to qualify. Umiiruka's citizens were nervous that we would be a shock DNQ but luckily Shy'm was announced early on in the results. Unfortunately, other favourites Unovia and Syndare were not so lucky. Umiiruka thanks anyone who voted for our entry this month!

Palmouth are a few contests away from it's debut.

And still no songs as contenders.

I have a couple of ideas, but will have to see if they flop in the charts first, in order to not break the rules.

I suppose you are meant to post this in YOUR national chart, not others?

It's a rather large news update today as Umiiruka has fallen rather far behind. Dear Leader K'Ronikka accidentally sent a nuclear missile into the capital city just over a week ago, killing several million people and distrupting all communications. We are now proud to announce that Charli XCX (who you will all know is representing the country) has qualified to the final, giving Umiiruka their 3rd straight qualification. Charli is currently the second favourite to win the contest and the Umiirukan public is hopeful for another top 10. Also Shy'm finished 9th last time round which we're quite happy about.

After Charli XCX delivered Umiiruka's best ever result in BJSC last month with her third place finish, the country has decided to take something of a risk sending our most indie entry to date. MS MR's 'Hurricane' will represent us, and you can listen here:

Umiiruka Satiated as MS MR Blow Away (some but not all of) The Competition

The Umiirukan public celebrated a third consecutive top 10 placing in BJSC last night as MS MR brought home a 6th place finish, ending with 141 points. This marks the second best finish ever for Umiiruka, just falling short of the 3rd place Charli XCX achieved last month. While MS MR were marked down as potential winners by international betting offices and so 6th could be seen as a disappointing result, Dear Leader K'Ronikka has stated that she is pleased, and has retracted a statement she made during the final that if MS MR did not finish top 5, they would be publicly executed. The country's BJSC committee has already started searching for an entry to continue our top 10 run, and expects to ask for international help in choosing what to send this month.

Megafloppage Continues as Foxes Leaves Umiiruka, National Anger/Apathy continues:

After the 16th place finish of übercheap entry 'Echo' by former BJSC winner Foxes, the Umiirukan public has demanded the Umiirukan visa of Foxes be revoked. Their demands have been met, and she has also been put on Umiiruka's "shoot on sight" list, alongside people such as the members of T-ara and Jessie J. Viewing figures for the 49th BJSC contest were down hugely on the figures for the 48th contest (which were also down on the 47th) and the UBC (Umiirukan BJSC Committee) are said to be very worried about these developements. As a result, they have vowed to be more inspired in future to keep the public interested.

However, all is not doom and gloom. As a result of the contest, multiple BJSC entries have charted in the country's official chart (as is usual). Most prominent of those is 'PONPONPON' by Daehunese contestant, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, which has so far peaked at #7. Most interestingly, she has actually impacted more with other singles. Her songs 'Fashion Monster' and 'CANDY CANDY' have just entered the Umiirukan chart at #1 and #4 respectively, making her the second person to hold more than one song in the top 5 at the same time (the first being Ellie Goulding). Kyary's rise to stardom in the country has attracted controversy, however. This is due to the actions of nearby nation Daehun, generally considered an ally of Umiiruka. The leader of the country went on Daehun's cheap equivalent of Twitter to say "KILL THE GIRLS ALOUD STANS, ALL OF THEM, SET FIRE TO THEIR BODIES!" after it was learned that the Girls Aloud song 'Something New' (#2 this week) was gaining on 'Fashion Monster' on iTunes. Umiirukan citizens were outraged at the outburst, and demand an official apology from the country. President Federica Pellegrini called his remarks "shameful". It is believed the Daehunese leader is flying to Umiiruka right now to try and smooth over the mess he made, but at this point it is just rumours. More on the story as/if it develops.
