I agree, It should teach her and her management that new album shouldn't has a tittle like a deluxe edition of earlier album.

It's amazing how both fun. and Gotye have had massive #1 singles but the album sales have been middling at best.

It may seem obvious but Adele's album has sold 8,986,000 copies in the US :w00t:, Surely it will be certified diamond this year in the states?????

Also Nicki only sold 21k this week :(

Yay! and Ugh!

Fun I agree with but I think Gotye has a lot left in him. STIUTK only REALLY took off very recently. I think he'll at least hit Gold. Fun ARE selling less than you'd think but I think they could do an LMFAO and start to sell more as (if) the hits keep coming in. One hit is rarely enough to sell an album.

fun. and Gotye are both clear one hit wonders and they don't tend to be big album sellers :P They aren't big names, they just have one big song each. That *could* change ('Some Nights' by fun. is doing alright so far for example) but I doubt it. Gotye's album is actually surprising me a lot so far with how big it's been, both in the US and the UK, I thought it'd be long gone from the UK top 100 after three months but it's barely even left the top 15 yet.
Well I certainly agree that neither of them will get anything near as big as their respective big hits but I don't think either of them can be consigned to the scrap heap QUITE yet. Gotye maybe but I see hit potential in Some Nights at least.
Album sales are very POOR. Apart from Adele, I think we might end up having no albums selling above 2 million in the US this year :o
Let's try get something over 1 million before we start worrying about 2 million

So after Adele's 5th June NBC special, we could see a boost for both albums, hopefully some for Mother's Day as well?

Pretty good start for 1D. I see them easily hitting 2mil by the year end (with the tour, more TV promo, singles, etc.). Adele's albums should both get a temporary boost after the 5th June NBC special, but with no new singles, I wonder how much longer it'll keep selling. It will clear 4mil, but I don't know if it can clear 5mil sales in 2012.

I think that Adele rather will sell 5 mln than 1D 2 mln. Boys will have new album this so year, so they will promote new album, not the old one. They have a chance to beat Lionel Richie, but I also don't believe that 1D will end this year as a No.2.

on 19th may, 35 albums released in 2012 sold more than 100 k, 12 more than 250k, 3 over 500k, and lionel sold more than 750k. The Wanted 52,951

Thanks Tommy! So going by the HDD data provided today, Adele can add on another 60K to her total, and about 40K for 1D which would mean as of now,

1. Adele, 21 3.42mil

4. One Direction, Up All Night 735K
