Divorcee Pete Conway, 64, wants his 38-year-old son to perform at the celebrations when he weds Melanie Mills, also 38.

Club singer Pete — who produced a ring and proposed during a recent romantic trip to Malta — said yesterday: “Robbie is so, so pleased for me.

“Melanie and I have been together for over two years so we thought we’d get engaged.

“The next thing is to plan the marriage. When it happens Robbie might sing, wouldn’t that be lovely. We’ve got to all get together and plan it.” He added: “I will see Rob next week and we’ll have a little celebration.”

Pete got to know South African-born Melanie through the Donna Louise Trust, of which his son is a patron.

Melanie is head of fundraising for the charity, which provides hospice and other care for terminally-ill children in Robbie’s home city of Stoke-on-Trent.

Pete, who got divorced when Robbie was three, was at the star’s wedding to actress Ayda Field in Los Angeles in 2010.

The couple are now expecting their first child and Pete added: “With the engagement and the baby we are having a lovely family year.”

Just thought I'ld mention this seeing as Keane are my fav group  B-)

Keane have landed a fifth consecutive number one with album Strangeland.

The band have now scored chart-toppers with each of their five studio albums, a record that is only beaten by The Beatles.

Strangeland outsold its nearest competitor - Emeli Sandé's Our Version of Events - by two copies to one.

The Beatles currently hold the record of an unbroken run of seven consecutive number one albums from their debut onwards, while Coldplay and Robbie Williams are among artists to have achieved five each.

Gary Barlow has said that Prince Harry is the Robbie Williams of the royal family.

The Take That star made the comments after meeting the third-in-line to the throne in Jamaica, where the prince was on tour as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Upon seeing the royal being mobbed by fans upon his arrival, Barlow commented to The Sun: "It was like the first incarnation of Take That.

"They were running down the streets after his car - they weren't interested in me, not a soul was interested in me. Harry is the star of the royal family, he is the Robbie of the royal family."

The X Factor judge earlier explained to Magic FM how Prince Harry agreed to perform for the official Diamond Jubilee single, saying: "I said, 'So you know I'm going to see you tonight? I'm going to bring a tambourine with me. I hope you're up for it?' And he said, 'It's going to cost you!'

"So I turned up with this little tambourine in my pocket, got him to play it and spun him into the track. I think it's wonderful."

The Jubilee track, a collaboration between Barlow and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber entitled 'Sing', was unveiled yesterday (May 18).
