May 19, 201213 yr Author Disc 2 was definitely more to my taste though in general. Disc 2's were always brilliant at the time since they were like a dance music compilation. Disc 2 of Now 47 might be my all time favourite, just brilliant.
May 19, 201213 yr Author 'Don't Stop' is one of my favourite trance songs EVER    (the original of course, not the awful UK remix) I much prefer it to 9PM (Till I Come). I also feel the NEED to give 'Diving Faces' a shout out. Another great trance song that somehow got to this album despite spending 1 week T40 at #25. I like both versions of Don't Stop, but I grew up with the original so I have a small preference for that one. Diving Faces was such a tune  Deserved better than #25, but that was a time when any trance song with no support would go top40. Speaking of which, Tina Cousins missed the top40 with Angel and here she is :o I love her though, so not complaining :D
May 19, 201213 yr Perhaps one of the reasons for the huge success of Now 44 was the fact that the new millennium was just around the corner. These tracks could easily have been the soundtrack to many Millennium parties around the UK when we brought in the year 2000. :D

And I agree with Dre about Now 47 Disc 2, absolutely phenomenal. Didn't care that much for the first disc mind...

That alone made CD 1 worthwhile. Disc 2 was pretty much like a Clubland album. If only they'd included the Baha Men version of 'Who Let The Dogs Out'.
May 20, 201213 yr Not great I'm afraid. Leaving any nostalgia at the door the Now albums from 1999 do nicely reflect how the top of the charts got worse as the year went on, starting off brilliantly with 42 (which still remains one of the best ever), to this rather mediocre collection. Although you can't argue with the duo of pop classics to open up the first disc, and there are quite a few lost gems like Jordan Knight, Honeyz, Diana Ross, Supergrass, Melanie C scattered around. Plus a pleasing double appearance from the Queen of the 90s. But most of the dance stuff is not my bag, except for the Alena track which manages to be amazing in spite of its trance label thanks to a gorgeous, soulfoul vocal that reeks of dancefloor heartbreaker (I'm weeping just thinking about it ). May 20, 201213 yr Author Funny, "Turn It Around" does absolutely nothing for me. And I'm a huge trance fan.
May 22, 201213 yr Well, what can I say that hasn't been said already...1999 is by a mile my favourite musical year ever, and so obviously this is one of my favourite Nows. Indeed the run from Now 42 (Early 1999) to Now 48 (Early 2001) are all without exception incredible. :) This one was very clever, as songs like 'Baby One More Time', 'Tragedy' etc would normally have been on a much earlier album, being released way back in late '98/very early '99, but they must have deliberately kept them both back and put them instead on this one. Interestingly enough, obviously this is the biggest selling Now but you know what the #2 and #3 are? Now 47 (Xmas 2000) and Now 50 (Xmas 2001). The turn of the millennium was a great time for them! I know it's not quite the same one, but a few weeks ago I did a track-by-track review of 'Now 42' on my blog - http://billyhicks.livejournal.com/309624.html . Obviously being ten years old at the time means I have a huge amount of nostalgia attached :D Edited May 22, 201213 yr by BillyH
May 24, 201213 yr Author I enjoyed reading your review :P Now 42 isn't one of the strongest imo, but it's definitely good album. You should do more reviews :P
