August 16, 201212 yr Really, really disappointed at the inevitable happening with Van Persie off to Manchester United, purely down to my hatred for them, and how much I do rate Van Persie, first year or contract or not, he's in his stride, but I do agree with Rooney (the poster, obviously) in a sense. The way it has all been handled so badly does the vibes of Torres to Chelsea about it, and the point about the midfield still needing to be strengthened, but I look at that strike force of Rooney/Van Persie, and I can't help think it's going to work so well. I'll happily be proved wrong, but they did need another big striker, and Van Persie is a really good signing for them. :( --- Just reading up on us looking to secure loan deals for Nuri Sahin and Cristian Tello. Extremely hopeful for the latter of those two, really rate Tello as an upcoming star. Edited August 16, 201212 yr by Robot
August 16, 201212 yr Tello would be a coup, but from the sounds of it he's very shy and very reluctant to leave, probably not the best personality to have around. Arsenal's win percentage without Van Persie is HIGHER than with in both the last 2 seasons, and the last 5 seasons. That's pretty insane really given how much of a star he was. If I was an Arsenal fan I'd be delighted, it's a serious masterstroke from Wenger. A player who's had one season in 8 where's he's been consistently fit and been great when he's played, who's 29, and who has one year on his contract, for £24m. That's just insane, especially when they've already bought in Cazorla, Giroud and Podolski. RVP for Cazorla & Giroud PLUS CHANGE. Absolute masterstroke. Song would (will) be a bigger loss. He did so well last season because Arsenal built their team around him, saw the other day that he missed more clear cut chances in the PL last season than anyone else, almost as many as he scored. They could've built the team around Chamackh, given him the same time and chances, and he'd have scored 15-20. I don't see how he'll fit in with Rooney either, they're fairly similar and look how they both play for their national teams when it's not built around them the same as at their clubs, I think it could be a terrible move for Man Utd.
August 17, 201212 yr Jose Bosingwa becomes the latest expensive old free agent to join QPR. Gaston Ramirez looks like he'll be off to Southampton!! Song off to Barca, Sahin to Arsenal over Liverpool. Dempsey to Liverpool now looks certain.
August 17, 201212 yr I wouldn't say certain. The Liverpool Echo were reporting that we've ended our interest I'm guessing we wanted to offer Adam plus cash, but I doubt Adam would be willing to move and it's unlikely we'll pay 10m for a 29 year old with a year left on his contract
August 17, 201212 yr Well Martin Jol has confirmed he wants to leave and he's not in their squad for the weekend. Not heard of anyone elses interest in him?
August 17, 201212 yr Author Dempsey might come, but I think this winger we got in might be a replacement for him. We'll see. Arsenal losing Song possibly aswell!? Crikey, they're going to really miss him, he made them tick last season. Hope Sahin chooses us over Arsenal. Apparently the hold-up is because Real want him to come to Liverpool, but the player wants Arsenal. We'll see how that one ends up! Can't believe Gaston Ramierz is going to Southampton!? Mental signing for them. Not sure how he'll end up in the future, but crikey they've a good player on their hands if he reaches maximum potential.
August 17, 201212 yr Song was, I think, their best player last season. Rumours of his attitude and temperament not being right though, Wenger generally knows when to get rid. Convinced he's right to sell Van Persie and €25m isn't a poor amount for Song. Sahin will choose Arsenal as he wants to play in the Champions League. Didn't he tell Spurs not to bother for that reason?

Didn't he tell Spurs not to bother for that reason? I'm not sure. From what I've read, Spurs wanted a buy-in clause added in, but Real Madrid don't want to sell as he's basically Alonso's replacement. Liverpool are offering to pay more of his wages than Arsenal, and add that to Rodgers and Jose's friendship, plus apparently Jose really doesn't want him to go to Arsenal because of a dislike for Wenger. There's obviously some sort of hold-up as he was meant to decide today, whereas it has been postponed now to next week. With the loss of Song Arsenal will probably be in pole position now. Love to see him at Liverpool, really think top 4 is possible this year with the signings we've made. Still need 1/2 more.
August 18, 201212 yr Dempsey might come, but I think this winger we got in might be a replacement for him. We'll see. Arsenal losing Song possibly aswell!? Mental signing for them. Not sure how he'll end up in the future, but crikey they've a good player on their hands if he reaches maximum potential. I don't think Gaston Ramirez is all that great. Good signing for Southampton, but I've seen Liverpool fans moaning "omg we got beaten by Southampton". In reality we probably made an enquiry whilst Kenny was still in charge and since then it's all been agent talk and I can't see Sahin joining Liverpool when he's got the chance to play Champions league football next season
August 19, 201212 yr Some of the media are running with the story that Adam Johnson is all but a done deal. As much as i'd love it to be true as it's the sort of signing that would push us to the next level and really show some ambition by the club, I still can't see it. It would most likely kill our wage structure as well. I guess we'll see.
August 19, 201212 yr Rumours Everton want Johnson on loan. Sahin to Arsenal looks good to go now, loan + future fee for €10m. Wenger can be the greatest operator in the transfer market.
August 19, 201212 yr Rumours Everton want Johnson on loan. Yeah, while we've apparently tabled a permanent bid.
August 20, 201212 yr Derby have signed Conor Sammon from Wigan for a rumoured £1.2 million with Steve Davies going the other way to Bristol City for a rumoured 750k. Very happy with netting Sammon, I really think he is the last missing piece in Clough's team rebuild! Extremely happy with the team we've got now! Edited August 20, 201212 yr by Ryan741
August 20, 201212 yr Skybet are offering odds of just 1/2 that Johnson will be a Sunderland player by tomorrow. Really dunno what to make of all this tbh :/ Oh, and according to Sky Sports a fee for Fletcher has been agreed. Edited August 20, 201212 yr by Y!kes
August 20, 201212 yr Author SkyBet's f***ing ridiculous tbh. never read in to it. They once stopped taking bets on Ribery to Liverpool and only yesterday they had Kaka as 1/5 to join Manchester United :manson:
August 20, 201212 yr don't know what to make of this steven davies from derby. does this mean steadys going or what? heard somewhere that city are also set to sign baldock, amougou and dj campbell, with brett pitman going to burnley and yannick bolasie going to palace. would be quite happy with that if it is the case. looking forward to the game tomorrow against palarse. knowing us we will probably end up with heskey and bramble
August 21, 201212 yr Mirallas turned Arsenal down in order to join Everton! Qpr Place 5.5m For Tottenham defender Micheal Dawson. Liverpool, Tottenham and Sunderland have placed bids for Adam Johnson. Scott Sinclair is leaving Swansea for Man City (I don't see how this move will benefit him tbh)
August 22, 201212 yr Author QPR's transfer policy is terrible... signing loads of old players on massive wages - recipe for disaster!
August 22, 201212 yr It's terrible, just like Hughes did at City, loads of money which he just splashed at anyone who was available and then they were paying silly wages to players they don't want that no one else can afford. QPRs wage bill could be in the top 6 in the PL if they sign Dawson and Carvalho! Are you over 30? Are you out of favour at your current club? Can you command a weekly wage of at least £50k a week? Then QPR is the club for YOU!
