I liked Bulgaria :(
I liked Bulgaria :(

It's a nice song but the presentation was laughable, talk about lacking atmosphere.

Apparently there was a TIE for 10th and 11th last night :o

If that is the case shouldnt both 10 & 11 both go through?!?! Unless Azerbaijan only wanted turkey! ooo Conspiracy theory!

No, EBU rules put it to a tie-break. It's run by the EBU, not Azerbaijan - there are always only ten qualifiers.

(Plus, we don't even know if Turkey finished tenth or not!)

-x-

More from the press conference: the juries and televoters only agreed on six qualifiers. Two were saved by the jury, two by the televoters.

The qualifiers were:

Sweden

Estonia

Bosnia

Norway

Malta

Macedonia

Turkey

Serbia

Lithuania

Ukraine

I'll hazard a guess at Lithuania, Macedonia and Malta being three that there was definitely disagreement over between juries and televoters, with maybe Turkey as the fourth one? With Slovenia, Netherlands, Georgia and either Portugal or Croatia as the four that would have qualified under one of the ways but missed out because of the other.

Tie or no tie - there always has to be 10 qualifiers. Would be massively unfair otherwise.

OOOH I bet my ASS that one of the jury picks was Bosnia. And the other one is probably Estonia, as nobody else fits the profile. I believe that 'saved by televote' countries were Turkey and Norway/Ukraine.

Malta surely for one of the televote saves? Bosnia could make sense too for a jury save, but this semi was FILLED with Balkan countries so it could've made it through off those...

I also have a feeling that Netherlands were the 11th placed country. It's GOT to have finished somewhere like 9th with the juries and 10th with the televoters.
Yeah, I reckon the Netherlands were definitely 11th. Either that or Georgia after scoring HUGE on the 'lolz funy' televotes and getting slaughtered by the juries.

Oh shoot. I forgot about them. Turkey and Malta then.

I'd guess the tie was Malta/The Netherlands.

Also, I would guess that Malta and Turkey were the televoting saves with Lithuania and Bosnia jury saves. Macedonia might be a jury save too, but the first 2 seem more likely to me.

I'm very worried that Serbia will win this now, I hope Loreen can still do this!

You are talking about voters and jury like former are people and latter creatures from outer space without any taste.

I don't think the tastes of those two are really that different tbh. I know two people in Finnish jury and they seem to have a pretty basic taste in music, they prefer good pop music.

Of course nobody SANE wanted Turkey to qualify with that horror of a performance but that's geography talking more than taste in music.

Let's be honest, Turkey's performance was stunning (I would say that even if I didn't like the song, which I do by the way). It would surprise me if he wasn't Top 3 in the televote. The public reaction was seriously INSANE.

They're obviously different to an extent.

I don't really understand why people think Turkey's performance was so bad. I think people aren't quite telling the difference between a bad performance and a song they just don't like.

The public reaction was seriously INSANE.

It would be when you have a huge arena full of Azeris. :P Still like the song though!

It was mostly his singing, not the show on stage that made me a hater. But the reaction on arena had little to do with the song.

The difference between jury and public vote is that in jury different aspects melt together providing a consensus of one kind. One fan of Malta and one of Bosnia are equal and if someone else in the jury likes Bosnia it has the advantage.

Then the public who vote for Malta scream their agony of AWFUL JURY VOTES on these forums :P
