May 28, 201214 yr Author Midweek Charts: Paloma Faith heads busy week for new albums Source: MW 16:15 | Wednesday May 30, 2012 By Paul Williams Paloma Faith will lead an influx of Top 10 debuts in the UK artists albums chart this weekend with the top six sellers so far this week all brand new releases. Faith’s RCA album Fall To Grace is currently in a close battle to top the countdown with the Decca-issued Queen’s Diamond Jubilee album Sing by Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band, according to the Official Charts Company. While Faith is ahead at present, Barlow’s album was only around 3,500 sales behind up to the end of business on Tuesday and will have the benefit of publicity surrounding the forthcoming Diamond Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend. Whatever the outcome of that battle, Fall To Grace will beat the peak of nine achieved by Faith’s first album Do You Want The Truth Or Something, which has sold around 500,000 copies in the UK since its 2009 release. Lined up immediately behind Faith and Barlow’s albums are four other brand new releases, led in third spot by Polydor act Scissor Sisters’ fourth album Magic Hour. Just a few hundred sales further behind, Rumer’s second Atlantic effort Boys Don’t Cry is fourth, while Sony Classical’s Russell Watson shows up as a new entry at five with Anthems and Parlophone’s Sigur Ros at six with Valtari. Two other brand new albums are also currently among the Top 10 sellers with Decca’s Melody Gardot ranked eighth with The Absence and Brilliant, the first new studio album by Ultravox with the classic line-up led by Midge Ure since 1986’s U-Vox, is ninth. To further add to the nostalgia, EMI has issued it on the band’s old Chrysalis imprint. The eight new Top 10 entries at this stage of the week therefore means only two survivors from last Sunday’s Top 10. These are led in seventh place by Virgin act Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events, which returned to number one last weekend, and Reprise/Rhino’s Bee Gees best of Number Ones falling 5-10. The biggest of the Top 10 casualties is Joe Bonasmassa’s Provogue album Driving Towards The Daylight, which debuted at two last Sunday but is now down to 31, while Columbia act John Mayer slips 4-27 with Born And Raised. If things stay as they are, XL act Adele’s 21 will slip out of the Top 10 for the first time since its release in January 2011 as it drops 12-3 in the midweeks. However, it is only currently around 300 sales short of the Top 10 so has every chance of making up the deficit and more by the end of the chart week. Having won the Eurovision Song Contest last Saturday, Sweden’s entry Euphoria by Loreen has accelerated 85-2 on the singles chart midweeks. The Warner Bros has already been a hit in parts of Europe, including topping the charts in Sweden and Finland. Around 8,000 sales ahead of Euphoria, the newly-issued Asylum/Atlantic single Feel The Love by Rudimental featuring John Newman has put down an early marker to top the chart this coming Sunday. It is currently joined among the Top 10 sellers at four by When She Was Mine, the brand new debut single by Polydor four-piece band Lawson. Having climbed to number one last Sunday, Fun featuring Janelle Monae’s Atlantic/Fueled By Ramen single We Are Young dips to three in the latest Sales Flashes, while Def Jam/Mercury’s Rihanna moves up 6-5 with Where Have You Been. Completing the Top 10 at this point in the week, Interscope/Polydor act Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe drops 3-6, Island’s Alex Clare falls 5-7 with Too Close, Global Talent/Island’s The Wanted slide to eighth place having debuted at two last Sunday with Chasing The Sun, while Columbia/Roc Nation release R.I.P. by Rita Ora featuring Tinie Tempah falls 4-9 and Columbia band Train declines 8-10 with Drive By. Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band’s Decca-issued Diamond Jubilee track Sing is currently ranked as a new entry at 17, while other new arrivals to the midweeks include tracks by UMTV’s Sebastian Ingrosso/Alesso, RCA’s Alexandra Burke and Mercury’s Justin Bieber. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Wednesday Update Top 40 Only Top 40 Singles 1 Rudimental/John Newman 2 Loreen 3 fun./Janelle Monae 4 Lawson 5 Rihanna 6-10 11-20 15 Labrinth 17 Gary Barlow 18 Coldplay & Rihanna 19 Sebastian Ingrosso 21-30 21 Pitbull 22 Kylie MInogue 23 Alexandra Burke 25 Azealia Banks 31-40 31 Justin Bieber [DIYA] 35 Wretch 32/Ed Sheeran http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/update/singles/print http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/r...rt-update-1421/ ============================== Top 40 Albums 1 Paloma Faith 2 Gary Barlow 3 Scissor Sisters 4 Rumer 5 Russell Watson 6-10 6 Sigur Ros 8 Meolody Gardot 9 Ultravox 11-20 14 Regina Spektor 21-30 21 Architects 30 Laura Wright 31-40 39 Public Image Ltd http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/update/albums/print http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/p...-to-grace-1420/
May 28, 201214 yr Author Midweek Charts update: Queen's Diamond Jubilee album eyeing chart throne Source: 14:43 | Friday June 1, 2012 By Paul Williams Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band’s Diamond Jubilee album Sing is gaining ground on Paloma Faith’s Fall To Grace in the battle to top the UK artist albums chart this Sunday. At the beginning of the week Faith’s newly-issued RCA album was around 40% ahead in sales of Decca’s Sing release, but by the close of business on Thursday this lead had narrowed to just 8%, according to the Official Charts Company. Behind the two biggest albums at this stage of the week are four other brand new releases with Atlantic act Rumer’s Boys Don’t Cry third, Polydor’s Scissor Sisters album Magic Hour fourth, Sony Classical act Russell Watson fifth with Anthems and the Parlophone-issued Valtari by Sigur Ros sixth. The high number of new entries at the top end of the market has pushed down last week’s number one, Our Version Of Events by Virgin’s Emeli Sande, to seventh position in the week so far, while XL’s Adele album 21 could drop to its lowest place yet on the chart as it currently occupies 10th spot. The Asylum/Black Butter-issued Feel The Love by Rudimental featuring John Newman is around 20,000 sales ahead of Warner Bros’s Eurovision winner Loreen with Euphoria on the midweek singles chart. Last Sunday’s number one, Atlantic/Fueled By Ramen’s We Are Young by Fun featuring Janelle Monae, is around 1,000 sales behind Euphoria in third place, while Polydor act Lawson’s debut single When She Was Mine is showing up as a new entry at four and Def Jam/Mercury’s Rihanna climbs 6-5 with Where Have You Been. ============================== Friday Update Top 40 Only Singles 1 Rudimental/John Newman (20k ahead) 2 Loreen 3 fun./Janelle Monae (1k behind) 4 Lawson 5 Rihanna 6-10 11-20 12 Gary Barlow Coldplay & Rihanna Sebastian Ingrosso 21-30 21 Pitbull Azealia Banks 28 Alexandra Burke Justin Bieber [DIYA] 30 Kylie MInogue 31-40 35 Wretch 32/Ed Sheeran ============================== Albums 1 Paloma Faith 2 Gary Barlow 3 Rumer 4 Scissor Sisters 5 Russell Watson 6-10 6 Sigur Ros 9 Rihanna [TAT] 11-20 Coldplay [MX] Meolody Gardot Alt-J Ultravox 19 Regina Spektor 21-30 Alex Clare Architects 31-40 32 One Direction Laura Wright ============================== Mini Artist Update Singles Carly Rae Jepsen 5+1 Rita Ora/Tinie 5+3 The Wanted 5+4 Paloma 10+1 Tulisa 10+3 Nicki Minaj 10+6 Jessie J/David G 20+3 The Saturdays 30+2 Marina & The Diamonds 30+6 Albums Adele [21] 5+5 Lana Del Rey 20+1 Jessie J 20+4 Nicki Minaj 20+6 Olly Murs 30+5 Rebecca Ferguson 30+6
May 29, 201214 yr Loreen could be #1 today, but that will be short lived. :( Wish we still got Tuesday updates :snif:
May 29, 201214 yr Loreen will sadly end up number 3 on sunday, Kylie will climb into the top 15, Scissor Sisters and Paloma Faith will do battle for number 1 in the album chart.
May 29, 201214 yr Loreen will sadly end up number 3 on sunday, Kylie will climb into the top 15, Scissor Sisters and Paloma Faith will do battle for number 1 in the album chart. Sadly? That would still be an AMAZING success for her, I think #3 is best case scenario. Really hope Scissors get top album. I liked Paloma Faith's first era, but Picking Up The Pieces is SO BLAND.
May 29, 201214 yr Author Bjorn Thomassen @bjornthomassen Loreen's Euphoria is at #2 in the UK midweeks... Will require a good push but #1 by Sunday still possible! https://twitter.com/?iid=am-156194753213374...search/midweeks
May 29, 201214 yr When i say sadly i mean i wanted number 1 as i think Euphoria will be number 1 in many European countries this week and i wanted the Uk to be one of them. A number 1 for a Eurovision song would do the contest the world of good aswell.
May 29, 201214 yr Author If Loreen is #2, does that mean fun. are no. 1, or Rudimental? It could be fun., Rudimental didn't get to #1 until early evening last night.
May 29, 201214 yr Don't Rudimental have EPs? I'd be inclinded to say they are #1 and fun. are #3, let's hope it stays that way and that Loreen doesn't drop anymore.
May 29, 201214 yr Also any news on Gary Barlow. Will the EP count towards the album chart, or will all sales be combined into the singles chart (it better not!!! ) I know it's listed under albums, just want it to be confirmed. :D

I have just remembered Rudimental has got physicals + downloads, I'm more inclined to say Rudimental now. Also any news on Gary Barlow. Will the EP count towards the album chart, or will all sales be combined into the singles chart (it better not!!! ) I know it's listed under albums, just want it to be confirmed. :D The Gary Barlow track is still a sticky icky problem, I didn't know where to plant it last night

Under £3.76 it would be classed as a budget album. It wouldn't be eligible for the singles chart as, despite the running time being under 25 minutes it contains more than 4 songs (and alternative versions of those songs), which means it is not a maxi single. The individual tracks can qualify for the singles chart though, if they are downloaded separately.
May 29, 201214 yr Author Ents Forum @entsforum Rudimental worth a Freshers booking? Looking like number 1 or 2 in the midweeks https://twitter.com/?iid=am-156194753213374...search/midweeks ==== Has to be #1 surely, if Loreen is #2
