I think Robbie is a big fan of it himself, i guess its the case of different tastes, for example one of my own faves of robbies is sin sin sin which many dont regard at all, and with take that im not overly keen on back for good where most people would probably rate it the number 1 take that song.

Yeah, I mean Back for Good, Pray, Everything Changes and Never Forget are my favs by a mile of their old 90's material.

I actually quite like Sin Sin Sin, but from that album its gotta be Spread Your Wings

Never Forget is their Ultimate track from Take That era 1 and i have fond memories of Relight My Fire too. Fron Take That era 2 Rule the World is my clear favourite. Robbie is very warm and cold musically for me but Tripping is probably my favourite song, that said there isnt any Robbie song i can truly say i love.
I do like Tripping myself but i think that era would be a huge fave among Robbie fans. Never forget is indeed a classic and i do like relight my fire as well, i have tos ay though i do love listening to the live versions of take thats material but i haven't found a version that i truly love. I have made myself my own take that greatest hits which consists of all live versions but relight my fire is also on the cd and its the only studio version of a take that song on the cd.
I do think Take That are truly amazing live, but i wouldnt call myself the biggest fan of live cds. Like many others i too have my own classic Take That album combined from all my favourites but no live versions appear on my cd.

Does anyone know what they are performing at the Olympic Closing ceremony? I'm quessing as there are quite a few names only one song will be allowed for each. I think the best song to choose for the ocassion would be either Rule the World or Never Forget.

Even though Back for Good is their biggest global hit i just think it wouldn't be right and also to some who only remember them from the 90's i.e US audience would seem this one song was all that defines them. This is why i'm more in favour of RTW which represents their second career though thinking about it NF would go with the whole 'inspire a generation' slogan, 'this will be someone else's dream'.

I agree mate, I think BFG might not fit the theme of the Ceremony.

What I have heard is that Take That will be the penultimate act and will perform Rule The World as the Olympic flame is extinguished. Then The Who will close the ceremony in the same way that Paul McCartney did with the opening.

If that's what happens then that'll be amazing a second to last ranking with an iconic moment like the flame would be amazing.

GARY BARLOW TO PERFORM AT OLYMPICS CLOSING CEREMONY, DESPITE TRAGIC LOSS

Take That performance to go ahead as planned

Gary Barlow is set to honour his Olympic commitments and take to the stage at the London 2012 closing ceremony, following the tragic loss this week of daugher Poppy, who was stillborn.

The Take That singer and his wife Dawn this week announced the loss of their fourth child, who was stillborn. Take That are scheduled to perform at the end of the Olympic Games, and Gary Barlow is still set to perform with bandmtes Robbie Williams, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald.

"The band have been there for him and totally understand if he doesn't do the gig," says a source to The Sun newspaper. "Take That are on the running order and the organisers are prepared for all eventualities, but they all know Gary will be determined to perform."

http://www.gigwise.com/news/75394/gary-bar...te-family-grief AND various others have also reported that TT will perform.

Not sure how true this is but according to Twitter the news of Robbie Williams actually performing with TT as originally planned is gathering pace with Robbie apparently wanting to be there for Gary and the boys after this horrendous time. Guess we'll see tomorrow although Robbie is reportedly in London already for album business

I am positive of tonight been a fantastic closing ceremony and having Take That there will add to the magic of it all, extremely tough for Gary i would believe but he will get through it, my thoughts still lay with him and his family.

What a fantastic performance by Gary and the boys! Im sure he was singing that to Poppy
I did not see all the closing ceremony but i did see them perform Rule the World, was that their only performance or did miss another song from them?

It was just Rule the World Pippa, apparently twitter was saying that Gary was secretly going to sing the chorus of Written in the Stars with Tinie last night before he pulled out of it understandably after the news of Poppy and Jessie J stepped in. It was a fantastic performance though

I would have liked to have heard Gary sing that but very understandable it didnt happen. That said, i had thought the plan would have been to perform rule the world as 4 and possibly the flood as 5, but after what happened we were lucky to get 1 performance. Additionally, with no Robbie in attendance the flood would not have happened regardless.

Its strange that Robbie didnt perform as it was flying around that he had changed his mind and was going to perform with TT after what Gary and Dawn had gone through but I dunno why that changed. Maybe his baby is due very soon?

I don't find it strange. It was only a few papers who bandied it about that Robbie may perform. As far as I know he said himself months ago that he wouldn't be able to attend and he stuck to it.

As far as songs I thought all along that only one song was to be played - either GD or RTW. Given the time of night they were on - GD would seem unfitting as its more of a 'start' to an occasion than an end.

It had to be either RTW or NF, and RTW was probably the more apt. It reminded me alot of the Circus ending which was fantastic

TBH as I was driving to work today I was listening to Never Forget and I think it would have been more apt (with Howard having lead it may have taken a little pressure off Gary as well). I just think the words 'Someday soon this will all be someone else's dream' would have fitted perfectly.

Never Forget would have been very fitting and would have suited the occasion and would have went down a treat, that said, Rule the world did the same, either songs are strong epic songs just a shame they couldnt have done both. Your point is very valid Kath, never forget would have took alot of pressure of Gary but as the saying goes no point dwelling on what has already happened as we cant change it.
