seems a fair change tbh, but points will be so much higher and it'll probably be known who wins after a few voting rounds or am I missing something?

Once the points have been worked out for the televoting and jury and then combined, the top 10 get converted to the normal Eurovision points system! :D

Doesn't this new points system make it more likely for a song that both the public and juries are kinda "middling" on to win though?

The favourites (from both public and the juries) will get shafted for some song that just happened to get a good similar score from both the juries and the public.....but that's hardly a good way to win. It's like saying your country won because neither the public or the juries hated it enough.

I think this system is worth a shot. Good songs will make their way through televoting AND juries if they are good enough.

Still, I think it could result in a situation where the winner isn't many peoples favourite. We'll see though.

Making such a big change to the points system could make for a very unpredictable Eurovision this year at least.

Here's another top 10 odds update seeing as they are already some changes due to the Netherlands entry reveal and a series of revamps! It is based on the best odds available according to Oddschecker. Those entries in italics are ones that have yet to be chosen or heard. The arrow refers to the position of the country in the odds rather than an actual change in the odds.

I really can't envisage Only Teardrops winning, think we might have a surprise winner this year unless one of the unheard entries is spectacular! Poor Cascada on the slide :(
I put a fiver on Sweden at 14/1 and a fiver on Ukraine at 29/2 on Betfair (so that's about £70 if either win). I don't really think 20/1 for Germany's much of a bargain - how often does something of such a similar style to the year before win? There are enough similarities to rule it out of contention for the win, though I think it'll do well. I could really see either Sweden shocking or Ukraine doing the business though, especially with the new voting system (which rewards songs that would otherwise have serious 11th place syndrome)
I can't see Emmelie winning either at the moment even though I'd love her too! I'm definitely thinking a Russia, Ukraine or even Georgia win at the moment, all of which I'd be happy with! I do hope Cascada will start climbing again soon, and I think they will do when the odds settle down a bit more.
I could just about handle Russia, Ukraine or Georgia winning (preferably that order) but Sweden don't deserve to the double and my absolute nightmare (channelling AlexRange) would be Belarus winning, we don't need another Baku.

Belarus would be FAR worse than Baku. You cannot technically be in a group of people outside just walking/standing around - it's considered protest / propaganda / campaign of some sorts. :D Don't know if that 'law' actually got through though, but it's still ridiculous.

Plus the country is poor as SHIT.

There's no way in hell Solayoh will win. I love it, but it's desperately obvious that it was written 5+ years ago.

These are odds to win not AlexRange's faves of ESC 2013. :)

I know, but it's BONNIE TYLER !!!

+ No doubt, Norway will win in this year with big gap (near 50-60 points).

Bonnie Tyler was relevant 20 years ago. Now not so much :(
Buzzjack have a secret weapon that no other Eurovision forums or oddschecker have, Alex  Whoever he dislike the most, is probably the winner of Eurovision :P
The first entry I heard was Denmark and my instant reaction was "winner" (even tough I seriously dislike the song), seeing it's almost always the firm fave on youtube and tight odds, I'm sticking to my guns. Worth putting a tenner on and getting £40ish back anyway. Might put a fiver on Ukraine and Germany on just for kicks (would love a Germany win and I don't think it's entirely unlikely, even though their odds are suggesting otherwise).
If Denmark wins I will be very disappointed. It doesn't feel like a winner at all, just a solid 6th-10th placer on a good day. I don't think it's strong enough.

If I had to call a winner at the moment I'd go for Germany purely on the fact that it's the only song I could imagine doing anything in Europe chart-wise and that's the way Eurovision seems to be going in terms of winners (Ell & Nikki aside).
