Did you really think I'd recognise the Destiny's Child track? I loathe most of their and Beyonce's output and usually if I do catch a bit of one of their tracks by mistake, try and wipe it out of my memory.

I do like some artists that use some of La Bush's ideas (Niki & the Dove have taken a fair bit of inspiration from her) but that Saint Saviour track just didn't do it for me.

Purity Ring have a much greater degree of finesse than the Visions of Trees track. Seems more like a straight forward tub-thumper.

I do appreciate the efforts you made to make the tracklisting flow. It's a skill I've never really mastered and only manage that by happy accident. I usually go for the throw a bunch of tracks at a wall and see what sticks approach.

Just listened to Destiny's Child • Lose My Breath (Reggae Mix) and it's much better than I expected. The chorus really works.
I think this will be my last CD swap. I find it very difficult to gather together an album of obscure music and I also find it difficult to review other people's cds.
Oh Dandy that CD sounds fantastic, well based on the 7 or so tracks I know. I would quite like to have a link to it.

wasted time;

01 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ Decent enough album opener. A relatively repetitive instrumental track perfect for background listening.

02 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ Oooh me likey. Sounds like a mix of Bloc Party with a more electronic chill-out sound and mild vocals.

03 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ Me likey too. Starts really nice. Has a nice melody with your typical unintelligible indie male vocals.

04 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ Arrange 'Turnpike'. I googled the lyrics though. The dramatic indie low voice male vocals work with the dramatic calm electronic sound.

05 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ Oooh some rap. I find it harder to judge rap songs because there's only melody to base your judgement upon really. In this case it's decent but overall it's not the track I would go back and listen to again.

06 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ Annoying vocals. She doesn't even sing anything other than one phrase (it's a cross between 'i followed' and something with the word 'life' in it'. I can't hear it properly). Pretty repetitive and doesn't go anywhere.

07 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ Absolutely hate the effect they use (that awful low deep sound which makes your ears kill themselves). So repetitive and, once again, that effect I tried to describe was horrible. Why do people use it in their songs? And multiple times. Off - on - off - on - off - on. My brain can't manage so much change.

08 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ A slightly more 'mainstream' witch house song. Obviously, me likey. Me likey very much.

09 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ Lo-fi sound with unintelligible indie male vocals until relatively catchy electronic beat kicks in. Probably my favourite song so far.

10 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ Starts really witch-housey (which is obviously a very very good thing). The chorus is catchy, loving the electronic sound of the song. "You don't get paid if you don't swallow" *.* Vocals sound amateurish, which is the only bad thing I can say.

11 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ The male vocals are really nice. Quite haunting, I would even say. Can't say the same about the female voice though. The melody is nice at times too but it's really all about those male vocals.

12 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ First two minutes are so boring I wondered if anything else will be happening. The answer is no.

13 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ It's like a song off the soundtrack to a loony bin movie. It's all over the place and chaotic to me. Love it.

14 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ It doesn't really work, does it? The voice and melody seem to be from different songs.

15 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ This song definitely stands out being more guitary and alternative but it doesn't work for me as well. No hook.

16 ▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ This one, however, is way better. There is hook, melody, more guitars, passion in the voice and everything.

The album definitely grew on me since the first time I heard it. Sorry for a small review but I don't want to repeat stuff I wrote about other tracks since many of the songs are similar.

No clue whose this album is. Grebo, who I got last year too? Brett-Butler? Tony? Like I said, no clue.

The reggae version of Lose My Breath is fantastic. :o Luv that we both included Desitny's Child on our mixes.

I know, what were the chances!

I'm not overly fond of them either but I do think they remix amazingly well - and I have a real (and unexplainable by logic) soft spot for covers/remixes that are done in a reggae style.

OH LOL. i didn't even realise that was the remix ben used (i really should read things properly)

O LAWD

are we all just posting destiny's child chop shop mixes?

beyoncé would be MOST DISPLEASED

I'm QUITE PLEASED here, you liked all the best songs and those that you weren't so keen on were all the ones i kinda regretted putting in after a bit (#12 aside) so happy happy.

01 Teen Daze - Treten

02 Street Signs - Waves

03 Slow Magic & Beat Culture - Once

04 Arrange - Turnpike

05 Lushlife - Big Sur

06 NKC - Radar

07 DINOSAURUS REX - FVR (ft. KBOT)

08 ian curtis wishlist - BL▲CK † CEILING - †EEN SPIRI† (icw's vices bootleg))

09 Spirit Spine - Fugue State

10 VS//YOU†HCLUB - HEARTS

11 Slowwkid - Love To Love You

12 North Atlantic Drift - Waiting In The Afterglow

13 ian curtis wishlist - emerald park ii: ♥

14 Sunglasses - Whiplash

15 Dalton - Breaker

16 Flashguns - I Don't Not Love You

I sort of tried to make it move through my current music tastes, so from Chillwave to a bit of R&B/future pop to some dark electronic stuff and then indie to finish but it did kind of mean I threw a few dud tracks in there to try and make it flow. DINOSAURUS REX is someone I really got into recently but it's hard to pick a standout track from him (and I failed) so am not surprised you didn't like that, and then the NKC song I only included because I'm friends with the two people involved and wanted to see how it went down! (calling my m8's vocals annoying WOT).

I'm most glad you like the second ian curtis wishlist electronic MESS of a song because I knew it was gonna be pretty love/hate and you were probably literally my ONLY HOPE. I definitely thought you'd most appreciate the darker middle section and I guess I was righttt, VS//YOU†HCLUB and Spirit Spine are my absolute favourite people going right now (and both have better songs that are going to remain UNMENTIONED in the interests of possible UP entries) but i wasn't sure how they'd go down so you were a bit of a guinea pig in that respect. Also the Flashguns song was my favourite song EVER for most of 2009 so I really had to include that + secretly knew most people were going to end up liking it. Waiting In The Afterglow is BEAUTIFUL so I don't know what you were smoking there and I do really like the Sunglasses and Dalton tracks but I think I can let you off a bit more for those. The only one I thought wouldn't go down too well but did was Waves, I thought it was a bit too Eyes-OwlCity-GentleElectronica-lite but apparently not.

YAY FOR TASTE (also only just realised that I included just ONE female vocalist. VICTORY.)

oui OUI

i would also quite like to sample a bit of RFC/Horatio/Lew/Dandy* please! been forgetting to ask

I'd like to swap please... I think I'll like your disc more than you'll like mine though tbh.
Oh and Ben I am LOVING your disc. A few I already knew but they all work so well together.[/playlistenvy]
Almost let the title fool me on the Destiny's Child remix, It's really good.

LMAO insulting your m8's vocals. :D

I didn't think it would be your CD at all :o

Well that intrigues me, even if it didn't turn out that way. I'm not sure how much I'd like of the rest of your CD but feel free to send it along, I could do with exploring a few new things.
