July 19, 201213 yr I can kind of tell the difference between many sub-genres but I'll never be good at describing or explaining them. I rather find it more difficult to know where to post this thread or that thread to, because of the usage of dance music/tempo/energy in some Pop and R&B/Urban/Rap/etc. songs. And some acts are just not easy to tell or obvious, like you can go put them in anywhere you want or feel or something (e.g. Jess Mills, Alex Clare). e.g. dubstep - to me it sounds so much like other dance music that the subdivision seems meaningless. Well, dubstep is dance music. :P Edited July 19, 201213 yr by FM11
July 19, 201213 yr Not really. Dubstep has different beat constructions and more expressive basslines.
