As much as it pains me to say it, it's not performing as well as I expected. Yes, indeed #1 in 43 countries etc is a fantastic achievement but when Born This Way sold 300k in the US within the first three days (I think?) and in the UK, its iTunes lead was huge. Now, it's struggling to reach #1 or get close to it (which is understandable as Katy Perry is HUGE in the US) but in the UK, it seems like the general public has just given up on her just like Britney Spears.

It's not setting the US or UK alight i agree. It probably wasn't going to compete with Katy in the US who is coming off the back of a HUGE era (like Gaga post-The Fame Monster) but i really expected #1 in the UK by now.

Just hoping for some longevity and good eventual good sales which the promo should help with in the coming weeks.

With the music video premiere and the iTunes festival coming up, I hope she can pull it in together and gather some more Top 10 or 5 singles in the UK.

Firstly, her team needs to get it together and know WHEN to release singles in countries and not putting it out midweek. -_-

I think many people are jumping to conclusions to quickly. The single has only been out a few days! Bad Romance took weeks to peak in both the US and UK! There's still lots of time and it's doing superb so far! :cheer:

Yeah, apart from the fact that Bad Romance's situation is different from Applause.

I do think this era isn't going to be too commercially successful for her in the UK, but as long as she makes some good tunes for the album then I'm very happy!

That was because Bad Romance didn't have as much hype as this and it wasn't a "come-back" single

Gaga is losing momentum in the US quick. Her radio updates today is even fewer than Katys. :(
Let's face it Gaga is never going to beat the success of her debut era and it seems like every release since then is being compared to it and being called a flop/not living up to the hype/commercially unsuccessful etc when she's actually done brilliantly. Like I keep saying, give the single some time! She's not One Direction or The Wanted who peak in their first week, it's Gaga, the only time she peaked in her first week in the UK was with 'Born This Way' and 'The Edge of Glory', both of which were chaotically released, every other single took their time.

Completely agree with that first part Kath. She'll never be as big but it's part her own fault, part the crazed fans and part the media's fault for continually expecting her to be.

Only Gaga can be called a flop while having a single and album top iTunes in over 50 countries

Applause is #11 in the official chart update from 1 day of sales. Hopefully top 5 by the end of the week.

I have loved her previous era's in equal but different measures. I think it was always inevitable Lady Gaga would never equal the success she achieved with the Fame era and having such a massive start to your career does have its downsides as its what you are always compared to. That said, to achieve what she did with the fame era was incredible and it was made of stuff that many people in the music industry only dream of, so she was so lucky to achieve what she did.

But that is my pleasantries complete, i think applause sounds nothing short of a complete puddle of mess and i find it very hard to listen to it in full and i am starting to think this might be an era i will want to forget about in her career.

This is ARTPOP not born this way. Everything's going great so far, why would Gaga and her team want to repeat the last albums release mistake, doesn't make sense!!

It makes sense when 'Applause' is completely bombing worldwide. It's not even #1 in Paraguay and it literally takes like 13 sales to get #1 there. Don't even get me started on her floppage in Africa.

That's a typo - I actually meant to say Trinidad and Tobago.

The keys are like next to each other.

Lady Gaga ‏@ladygaga 2m

AHHHH! RT @catness0: @ladygaga CONGRATS ITS FINALLY REACHED NUMBER 1 IN THE UK #applause

Does anybody know what the airplay is for Applause in the Us by any chance?

No. BuzzJack doesn't have much interest in stuff like that.

Some good news :cheer:

Ellie Goulding Burn is now in the red decrease on kworb.net and Applause is still increasing faster than Avicii. She can still do it! Come on UK!!!! BUY APPLAUSE!!![/b]

The Grape Juice has a GaGa v Katy poll.

We know what to do.

And people are saying the single is underperforming??? It is SLAYING iTunes like Michael would say!

I would!
