Posted July 27, 201212 yr Not sure how we didn't have a topic for this given it's currently the biggest rock album in the country by a distance? http://c438342.r42.cf2.rackcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Gaslight-Anthem-Handwritten.jpg oST77VRHXt0 Been loving "45" for a while, the title track looks like being the second single and is also massive. Prefer both to anything on "American Slang" and they're well up there with the holy trinity that kicked off "The '59 Sound". Lf-rEslupnY&feature=branded
July 27, 201212 yr I am loving "45" at the moment. Got the previous 2 albums so will definitely be picking this up at some point !
August 1, 201212 yr I love Gaslight - all of their previous 3 albums are great - although the last 2 are a step up on the first one. Handwritten is, in my view, a step up again on anything they have done. i really hope they crack through into the big league with this album because they are the best rock band around at the moment. another great track off the album Edited August 1, 201212 yr by wkdstepmother
August 16, 201212 yr I like punk, I like Springsteen... but never really got into these guys. They never really grabbed me at all. They definitely have good songs but I dunno... and funny how that write up doesn't mention Sink or Swim, which seems to be a lot of people's fav.
August 16, 201212 yr Handwritten is great. They stepped it up in the songwriting IMO on it. They were in my area recently, but I was too slow to get tickets since the show ultimately sold out. :-(
August 16, 201212 yr As yet not entirely sold on this being their best album but still very good. I'm still sticking with 59 Sound but then it often is the case that the first album you buy remains a favourite. If anyone gets the chance to see them live it is well worth it. They were great when I saw them
August 16, 201212 yr Author I think the album sticks far too much to midtempo, it's almost a completely turnaround from The '59 Sound in that respect. A shame because you could take a couple of album tracks from that and stick them on Handwritten in place of songs just as good like "Biloxi Parish" and the album would flow an awful lot better since their core sound hasn't changed much at all.
