ADORE THIS!!! And voted for it, obviously. It's my current #1 as a AA with 'And I Will Kiss' as both tracks were just a perfect accompaniment to the visual spectacle of the opening ceremony. Have you downloaded 'And I Will Kiss' by the way? Never has a 17 minute track seemed so short to me, the drums are just so epic and it really makes me wish that I'd been there to see it all unfolding, it must have been immense.

I still think it's incredible that 'Spectrum' made #1 but the Calvin Harris remix really adds something to a track. Gives the song a whole new dimension and now I've read that Calvin's next single features Florence. I don't know whether to be excited or not.

I hadn't even considered charting songs featured in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics. It was only when it went top 10 on iTunes I took notice. 'Caliban's Dream' is a joyous piece of music and massive kudos to Underworld for this song. They'll probably always be remembered for 'Born Slippy' but this and 'And I Will Kiss' are gems. Speaking of which, no I haven't. I didn't have enough credit on iTunes to download the whole album and this was album only. However, I've listened to it on YouTube and it's a fascinating track. I would've liked to have been able to get a shorter version - something that would be suitable for radio stations to play although such an edit would probably take away from the song. 'And I Will Kiss' is more than just a song, it's a soundtrack in itself. :D

Shame this missed out on #1 to Wiley. It's actually sold much better than all of Calvin's three previous singles in their first week of release. Of course, Florence at #1 for a fourth would've been amazing. She achieves just that here making my chart amazing. :D

'Nuclear Seasons' was an excellent track but it entered into one of those very strong contests. It was the same month that '212' was entered - both tracks went on to top my chart in December. I doubt 'You're The One' will be a #1 hit for me. It best reflects the quality of the two contests though. 'Nuclear Seasons' got my 7 points and ended up topping my chart. 'You're The One' got my 12 points but isn't a top spot contender.

It's a glorious song but I guess because I've been listening to this for 6 months it's tailing off more for me because if I was to start playing this more, I'd probably start to get sick of the song thanks to overplaying the song - I refuse to let that happen. :D

Well, I actually made my own edited version of 'In My Mind' for BJSC because there are parts of the remix that I actually don't like and wanted to remove them. I discovered the official radio edit and had a listen. It kept parts of the "worst bits" and shortened the best bits. Making my own edit was the only suitable solution. :D

 

Still in the top 10! Wow! You have a whopping FOUR of my previous chart #1s in your top 10 so I can't really grumble about your chart now can I! Have you warmed to any of their other singles yet? My favourites are still this, Play, Good Worker, Sever, Drops, Kill, Rascal, In Due Order and Idle Talk. That will be all of them then! :kink:

 

You say "still" like it's been in my chart since January. :lol: I honestly have to admit, 'goods' is the only track by iamamiwhoami that has appealed to me so much. I know 'play' was entered into BJSC but it just didn't do anything for me hence why I never voted for it, nor did it scrape into my top 40.

 

I'm surprised this has done as well as it has done on the charts. It's not really my sort of thing but I had them down as being one of those bands who scrape a couple of top 20 singles and then disappear for good... looks like I was wrong!

 

To be honest, I am as well. I expected 'Black Heart' to just drop off after its first two weeks on the chart. However, I reckon StooShe have benefitted the MOR afternon radio station listeners. It's inoffensive so it was always going to appeal to an older audience.

Hmm, I do like the new single from Bat For Lashes but I much preferred 'Daniel' from 2009 - that was a top 3 single in my chart. 'Laura' doesn't look like it'll go top 10 for me. Still loving 'Spectrum' too much for anything to overtake. :wub:

It's adoreable and cute. The kids choir is something that can usually grate but on this track it really does emphasise this feeling or purity in the track. The melody in the song is so strong, I'm surprised it's never been thought of before. I'd like to believe this will be become a cult classic in years to come. 'Born Slippy' works when in the context of Trainspotting. Then again, I did like it but it was never a big fave of mine. The Prodigy were my act of 1996 with gems like 'Firestarter' and 'Breathe' bagging the #1 spot (oh, and Spice Girls too... :P )

This really was such a massive grower. In the semi final voting stage, I ranked this 12th out of all the songs so for 'Starting Fires' to progress from 12th to 2nd in the final was a huge difference that rarely happens with my votes. I guess it just didn't click on first listen and it required several listens to start appreciating its beauty. :wub:

I know what you mean. I guess that might have happened in my chart had 'Black Heart' bombed down the chart after it first entered. However, because of its airplay (particularly on the music channels) it's been sort of inescapeable over the weeks. So by hearing the song quite a few times, that's why it's grown on me.

It's alright, I like it more now than I did when it was entered into BJSC hence why it never got any points off me at the time. I still think it's a million times better than their previous single 'Crashed The Party' which is just terrible.

02 (--) Underworld - Caliban's Dream (02) [1 wk] (FANTASTIC opening ceremony, but I think that the closing will be even better)

 

I wonder if there will be any music specifically composed for the closing ceremony? Or if they use music from the opening ceremony as the a closing theme. Would be nice if a track like 'Caliban's Dream' got a nice little boost. I'm actually looking forward to this Sunday's closing ceremony. If it's anything like the opening ceremony then it'll be a treat.

 

04 (--) Calvin Harris feat. Example - We'll Be Coming Back (04) [1 wk] (Call me a basic beeyatch, but this gets my vote this week, Calvin's best song since Bounce for me, if we don't count We Found Love obviously)

 

Why would I call you a basic beeyatch because you like this track? :P Hmm, I really didn't like 'Bounce' at all - it just sounded like a Sega Mega Drive Super Mario Bros. soundtrack with Kelis singing over the top. To be honest, I might've liked the song more had it really been a sample from an old computer game. That said, Calvin's singles have got better with each new release. So technically, this new single with Florence Walsh should be outstanding. I reserve the right to say it's rubbish but hope it isn't.

:lol: How can you like a song and not give it a chart run it deserves. I have to admit, last months BJSC was a bit disappointing considering we had a record breaking number of participants. It seems we're currently going through a phase of quantity over quality so I hope this can somehow change. :(

Me too. It seems Sam Sparro is just destined to be a UK one hit wonder but seeing this doing well in Belguim has really surprised. If only the UK could be more like Europe and embrace music regardless of the artist. So what if Sam's had a number of flop singles over the years? :( Anyways, this is likely to make my top 10 in my new chart. :D

What?!!! :o When did this happen. I must admit I'd not really been checking the free single of the week. The most recent one I saw was a Conor Maynard track but even I couldn't bring myself to download it despite being free. Aww, I'd even pay 99p to download 'Warrior'. It's too good to be a free single!!! :drama:

 

20 (12) Karmin - Brokenhearted (12-20) [2 wks] (I can't decide whether I like this or not, it's very Katy Perry and I hate the "huge intake of breath" in the middle of the chorus, you're meant to do that before you sing :kink:)

 

:lol: This comment reminds me of someone ages ago (can't remember who or where) saying they found it offputting that you could hear the singers breathing in tracks. It was a genuine :huh: moment. :lol: If the singer doesn't breath, they won't be able to sing. Although I do know what you mean. The worst example of bad breathing I ever saw was when Boyzone used to perform 'No Matter What' live and Stephen Gately used to sing the final line like this; "that's all that matters now no **huge breath** matter whhhaaaattt" which always made me laugh.

 

23 (31) Of Monsters And Men - Little Talks (40-31-23) [3 wks] (Really growing on me! Love the HEY, it's a bit Dschinghis Khan :lol:)

 

Well, I haven't a clue what Dschinghis Khan is but I'm guessing it's a similar artist? Anyways, this is going to rocket up my chart again this week. It's great to see the video getting a fair amount of airplay. Hope it keeps climbing and eventually makes the top 10.

I don't expect Loreen to plummet out of my chart. I still enjoy listening to 'Euphoria' but unlike others, there was no chance this would be stuck in my top 5 for six months. I like my chart to move on as I discover more and more songs. Even 'Bad Romance' had to exit my chart at some point. :D

 

35 (--) Nicki Minaj - Pound The Alarm (35) [1 wk] (Random video, but good song, never thought I'd like two Nicki singles in a row!)

 

It's about as good as 'Starships' but I don't think I'll ever fully "get" Nicki Minaj. I remember some Buzzjackers posting after Nicki 18 months ago like she was the second coming but, as far as I'm concerned, she's yet to release a single that ticks all the boxes for me.

Hey Hits, finally got around to commenting on the personal charts this week :drama:

 

I know that feeling. As you know I'm on holiday today so I've got more to just chill out and enjoy my time. My Buzzrate might be completed today (this might not be true :drama: ).

 

01 (01) Florence & The Machine - Spectrum (Calvin Harris Remix) (01-01-01-01) [4 wks] Impressive run for this, what do you think of the original album version?

 

I still love this. I liked the album version anyways but like I've mentioned over the last 4 weeks, the Calvin Harris remix just gives the song a whole new level of greatness. It has also made me appreciate the beauty of the album version. Technically I'm chart both versions, but I'd the ratio of listening to both versions is something like Calvin Harris Remix 90% & Album Version 10%. Whereas for eg; when 'Beautiful Liar' made #1 for me it's a more even mix of Freemasons Remix 60% & Album Version 40% so in the case of 'Spectrum' it is the remix I listen to far more.

 

02 (--) Underworld - Caliban's Dream (02) [1 wk] Finally heard this this morning, quite different and interesting

 

It's such a lovely track - almost nursery rhyme-esque with its simplicity. Well, I mean the kids choir at the start. It's such a joyous track to listen to, even at 7 minutes long. It was the perfect soundtrack for when the couldron was lit during the opening ceremony.

Actually, that's a really good comparison. I'd not even considered that. :D I do like 'Starting Fires' and its one of my personal highlights from last months BJSC.

Actually, I remember this being in BJSC (I think it was last November) yet it made no impression on whatsoever at the time. I know, shocking!!! :o Yet since it took of in Europe, it made me return to the song to have a listen and see if there was something I'd missed but it's basically a real grower track. The comparison with Gotye is spot on as whilst that grew on almost everybody, I'd played it enough times to adore the song so it debuted at #1 in my chart. Otherwise Gotye might've had a similar chart run here - start off low down and work its way up the chart as it keeps of growing. Pretty much like its UK chart run.

 

37 (--) Wiley feat. Ms D - Heatwave (37) [1 wk] Low for this, I really like it, way more than the Calvin Harris/Example song

 

Hmm, I'm just not getting into this track. It's probably weird when I consider the fact that his flop single 'Take That' made #7 in my chart although iirc it was released in January and so benefitted mostly from the New Year clear out. Even 'Wearing My Rolex' made #8 in my chart, but I got bored of both 'Take That' and 'Wearing My Rolex' incredibly quickly. So it's probably a bit ironic that Wiley's biggest UK hit is ultimately his worst performing here. :lol:
