The game was what I expected it to be, quite boring at times but with flashes of brilliance from both teams at certain stages in the game.

 

First thing first Chelsea looked very poor. ^_^ Obviously Mourinhio is gonna use the same old excuse of; our players weren't fit, blah blah balh. Chelsea missed Makele LOADS today. When Riise hit Chelsea on the counter attack normally Makele would have stopped a player in that position but becuase he wasn't their Terry was left to stop him, but he just backed away and Riise beat him on speed.

 

Apart from setting up Sheva for Chelsea's goal Ballack was exactly like he was in the world cup; extremley poor. Very slow in posession and wasted free kicks. Ballack looked way of the pace as well. Sissoko was all over him in midfield and Ballack looked like he was frightened at the pace of the english game.

 

Chelsea's fullbacks were poor along with Terry and Carhavlo. Both are not fast players so anybody with a speed can get in between them.

 

Unfortunatley for the rest of the premiership though Chelsea have got their very own Henry now. -_- Sheva looked brilliant and took his goal extremley well and looked like he could become very good for Chelsea this season.

 

On today's performance Chelsea will struggle to retain the championship and I don't think they'll win the champions league but today will only re-inforce the fact that they need a new left back and another striker as Drogba looked useless. ^_^

 

On the Liverpool front, they started with Gerrard, Bellamy and Alonso all on the bench, and they coped well without them for 55 minutes before cracks in the side began to show and then Rafa bought the "bigger" guns on. Sissoko was immense for Liverpool today and on the two games i've seen him play so far this season he definitley looks like the new Vieria. ^_^

Charity Shield is just a glorified friendly though, wouldn't read too much into it

It was a friendly game and you could tell by Gerrard's and Terry's facial expressions that the game meant nothing to them, but this game was a win win situation for Arsenal and Man Utd, and its always nice to beat Chelsea.

 

Like I said though apart from Sheva and Essien Chelsea on the whole looked very poor. They missed J.Cole and Makalele a lot, and Lampard and Ballack looked way of the pace of the game. Sure they might not be fit yet but the Premiership season starts next weekend, and a bad start could really cost Chelsea. ^_^

Terry was terrible today :o made LOADS of errors -_- Meanwhile Liverpool put on a good show and hopefully this a sign of things to go for the Premiership ^_^

It just goes to show how much they miss Gallas. If Gallas continues his hissy fit or if they don't sign a replacement then Chelsea will be very vunerable at the back because the centre backs don't have any pace.

 

Another thing about Chelsea is I think their gonna regret selling Duff etc. Sure they were back up players but they were decent players and were handy players to have if injures came along. Chelsea now have some brilliant youngsters to come on, but the problem is their still youngsters and aren't up to the premiership yet.
