I really don't understand why it's been made album only. By doing so, it's not going to help sell the album - especially if most of the album tracks sound rubbish from the preview.

Another missed opportunity. :D 'Good Time' would've easily gone top 10 next Sunday from cherry pickings.

I don't really see it as a lost opportunity, it's only just been picked up by Radio 1, so I'd argue that it might end up selling more in a few weeks. Obviously it could be selling well right now, but it might be the best chance this wretched song has at getting to #1. He might sell a few more albums than he usually would until it comes out, so I don't really see how this isn't a win-win situation. More people should do this! (perhaps not with the first single, but holding back the second and third singles could be the way forward!)

Holding back post-album singles would just be depressing. :( It would be like going back in time, I do like the system they have now.

I'm torn. I do like how you can buy pretty much any song you want when you want, but part of me misses the days when acts could get more than a couple of top 10 hits from an album. Unless you're Rihanna, Katy Perry and a few others it's considered a success to go top 10 with your second single! I guess you could argue that a song doesn't deserve to go top 10 if it can't make it in this era, but I'd like to see how it effects sales of albums/post-album singles in general!

Sak Noel (a Spanish DJ) had a #1 UK hit last year with the novelty European hit "Loca People" (although ironically, the song was not a hit in his native Spain! ).

DJ Sammy (another Spanish DJ) had a #1 with his cover of Bryan Adams' "Heaven" too.

Interesting! I didn't know they were Spanish.

:( Under The sun down to #18, I have the feeling it won't be top 10.

Plus they've been #1 on the Albums chart with the EP so the percentage gap will be more than that - maybe 30-35k.

Why is it only once the song has been released that the EP gets to #1? if it got to number 1 based on pre orders then why wasn't it at #1 before Sunday.

How did Sak Noel manage to get to #1 anyway, he was never at any stage number 1 on itunes and i dont think he was number 1 on any other websites that week either.

65. Million Voices - Otto Knows

AMAZING. Just checked it out because its been hanging around the top 100 for a while now. This needs to get an official single release.

Sexy And I Know It by LMFAO would have definatly been a #1 if it came out before the album did.

I wonder if We Are Never.. is going to do a 'Timebomb' :o

I do hope so! :puke2:

Can't see it somehow though.

Taylor won't do a Timebomb, because some people will want something to prevent Bom Bom from the top.

It had loads of multiple versions and remixes I think.

Songs like One Shot and Eyes Wide Shut by JLS I think would've made #1 if post-album singles got made album-only.

You have to seriously hate a track to buy something else specifically to prevent it making no.1.

I don't see how Bom Bom can fail to be no.1 next week, it's miles ahead.

Not really bothered by any of the new releases this week - haven't heard the new Taylor Swift track yet, and neither have I heard Devlin & Ed Sheeran's collaboration. I have however been bombarded by 'Bom Bom' and it's just awful - though at this rate it's going to have some pretty big first week sales; hopefully it won't stick around too long.
It won't. It'll debut at No.1, then drop next week to at least No.4, behind Little Mix, Fazer and probably Rita.

Rita is falling pretty fast too, so I think the lowest it'll fall next week is #3. Unless Emeli's song gets more airplay and climbs above it too.
