August 24, 201212 yr Have Muse ever made a great album though? I wouldn't say so. Plenty of excellent songs but 'Origins of Symmetry' is by far their best effort for me, and that certainly has its weak points. My mate is a big fan of Muse and he doesn't know why I don't like them - I just think that they're vastly overrated and they sound like a second rate Queen. The only songs I'd listen to out of choice are Neutron Star Collision, Starlight, Feeling Good and Knights Of Cydonia. Supermassive Black Hole is one of the worst songs I've ever heard. :puke:
August 24, 201212 yr LCD Sound System are highly over rated in my opinion. I've never heard one tune by them that did anything for me. Also, In Rainbows :( SAAAAAAME. Only I liked 'This Is Happening'. Anything else is not my cuppa tea though... :( Same with Hot Chip - I never seem to like them as a WHOLE.

If you can listen to Bliss or Blug in Baby without any enjoyment then Muse are not for you.
August 24, 201212 yr I find Hot Chip overrated too but not to the same degree as I love Ready for the Floor and I Feel Better.

August 24, 201212 yr Author LCD Soundsystem > Hot Chip, although I wouldn't really compare the two. Hot Chip are consistently good but not WOW AMAZING. Sound of Silver on the other hand...
August 24, 201212 yr LCD Sound System are highly over rated in my opinion. I've never heard one tune by them that did anything for me. Also, In Rainbows :( "Someone Great" "Tribulations" "All My Friends" "All I Want" GET URSELF EDUCATED BOY.
August 24, 201212 yr The album I can't get into at all is Veckatimest. I just find it impenetrable. I'm even starting to get into Animal Collective after picking up a copy of Sung Tongs for a quid at a charity shop.
August 24, 201212 yr "Someone Great" "Tribulations" "All My Friends" "All I Want" GET URSELF EDUCATED BOY. I've heard them all. :( Some bands just dont click with me. Edited August 24, 201212 yr by tonyttt31
August 28, 201212 yr I've heard them all. :( Some bands just dont click with me. I will let you off this once, although you should listen back to "Someone Great" - possibly the greatest ever break-up song.
August 28, 201212 yr How can you think a list is good that features only men in the top 50??? The majority of which are white? Like I'm not trying to question the quality of each album individually (though let's be honest Is This It? is a total snoozefest, I just don't get why people love that album, so boring 2 me), but this list just reflects how much the music journalism industry is run by men (white, straight men). I don't have anything against Pitchfork really (they've definitely tried to include a lot more writers lately who listen to genres outside of white dudes with beards playing indie rock - they've had more R&B, pop, and queer music coverage which is good — and obviously no one at Pitchfork curated this list), but this list was basically just created by a bunch of bros in the end. Soooo boring and one sided. I could give plenty of lists which I think are far more interesting and diverse, obviously no list is more correct. That's not really the point of why this list fails though. It's a readers' poll, so it's hardly a direct reflection on music journalism as a whole. I guess most of the people who read Pitchfork (or at least bother to take part in the survey) have similar tastes to the site's writers so the list looks similar to how it would have done had it been compiled by the journos themselves but even so I don't see the point in shoehorning it all into categories just to make a point. Also not sure why you insist on adding "white" and "straight" to "men" - sure, the list is lacking women but there's no obvious straight-gay bias and Kanye has as many albums as anyone appearing so there's hardly any racial bias either. The list isn't entirely to my tastes but it can't be faulted on quality. Then again I read Q so what do I know.

Just because it has Kanye does not mean race isn't a factor. Not saying it's racist, but it's clearly a list made by a bunch of white straight dudes. Keep in mind, also, that Kanye tends to draw a lot of people who don't really listen to rap. There is a very notable lack of R&B, female, queer, rap, dance, or pop inclusions on this list. There are probably somewhere between 100-150 male white indie bands. Not even trying to debate the quality of those albums individually (though, again, I find a ton of them really bland), but the list as a whole is totally one-sided, whitewashed, and boring. That's not subjective. Also, just realized that Santigold, MIA, and Janelle Monae are the only women of color on the entire list.
August 30, 201212 yr "Someone Great" "Tribulations" "All My Friends" "All I Want" GET URSELF EDUCATED BOY. 'Losing My Edge', 'Beat Connection' and 'North American Scum' should be on your list too.
