This album has actually been quite successful for a side project. It'll probably match ARTPOP sales-wise in some smaller countries.

At the rate its selling it will most definitely outsell ARTPOP in the US, if only the UK were here for da jazz tho http://s29.postimg.org/tmu0gnshv/000000omg.png

Pure Charts France Interview:

We know that Tony is a jazz legend, but we did not know this lovely young woman (Lady Gaga) had that passion as well. How did you find out that Lady Gaga was as fond of jazz?

Tony : I sing naturally, entirely spontaneous. And Lady Gaga's sings the same. She sings completely improvising. It is a gift, something you do not learn in school. You can learn techniques of piano and many other things, but certainly not to sing jazz. It requires to be inventive all the time! You never sings a song the same way. That's all the time different, it depends on how it feels at the time. It demands honesty, there is no calculation, technique ... And Lady Gaga is perfect for that. She is an excellent singer.

Lady Gaga And you, why have you started this project for the least expected?

Gaga : Lady Gaga: Tony is the ultimate gentleman. He is a legendary jazz singer. As Frank Sinatra said, "He is the best in the business." I am honored to work with him. I lived every moment like a dream. This is something I never imagined, like the cinema. He taught me so much about jazz and about life. The stories he shared with me about Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington have profoundly changed my life.

What has he taught in particular?

Gaga : He told me that there was not a day in his life when he had no desire to sing. This state of mind and this recognition should be shared. He never sang a bad song. He always refused too. This integrity is not only admirable, it made him a music legend until the end of time.

From day one, the album "Cheek to Cheek" was number one in several countries.

Tony : It's great that the album is so successful, thanks to Lady Gaga ...

Gaga : No, thanks to you tony!

Tony : We are very pleased that the album is highly ranked in many countries!

What are your expectations for this album?

Gaga : What I hope, above all, is to honor Tony, be up to the task. To show its authenticity, artistic integrity in the face of the world. And publicize this timeless music of these composers as Cole Porter or legend George Gershwin to the new generation. It's my biggest dream. We were in Tel Aviv last week. We played in front of 25,000 people. All these young people dressed like little kids singing all the lyrics to "I Can not Give You Anything But Love."

You said that working with Tony was a real liberation for you ...

Gaga : Yes. I wrote songs since the beginning of my career. I played the piano since I was four years old. I studied classical singing at the age of eleven. At thirteen, I discovered jazz for the first time. When I started to write music for the industry, I quickly became "the weird girl from New York downtown" makes dance songs for other artists. So I started to do this music, to get noticed, to be able to travel more, to do shows ... I love to sing! But when I met Mr Bennett for the first time at a charity gala in New York, he offered us to do an album together. I was so happy that he knew I was singing jazz for a long time! Maybe I was even afraid to have lost that part of me. I felt liberated because it's been over eight years since I had not done that. And Tony would not have accepted that I am not 100%. (Smiles accomplices)

Tony : She is a true artist. She has so much talent ... I am sure she will be with us forever. She's an actress! She sees many things and has many ideas. She wants to make 1,000 different ways. Could you make them all!

Gaga : (with a little girl voice): If you ask me I will!

Tony, you will be giving a two hour show tonight and then you will sing with Lady Gaga at the Place de l'Hotel de Ville. Someone on your team said: "But it's nothing for him, in his early career he gave up seven shows a night!"

Tony : I started the same way as Lady Gaga, with thousands of people cheering me. And after a while I wanted it to become simpler. Rather than playing in a stadium, I wanted more traditional in confined places. A bit like here! Besides, if there was a piano in the room, I would immediately show you!

What does it mean to you to play in a historic place like the Grand Place in Brussels?

Tony : I am honored that you receive us in that way. I'll remember it for the rest of my days. I know that when Lady Gaga will appear on stage, there will be cheers and reactions that we have never heard in this city. People love it, and she loves them in return.

Gaga : I am very moved to be here with you. It's a real honor to share this stage with you. It's my pleasure.

Thank you to you both and good (luck at the) concert!

Gaga : Thank you Belgium and thank you to all the countries hosting so the album.
