163. Darius // Live Twice // January 2005

I loved this song when it was released but it took on an extra meaning following the death of my father in August 2007. Don't mean to be morbid but it's the reason why it's here, and lyrically it sums up our relationship extremely well

162. Taylor Swift // Love Story // January 2009

A song that on paper I shouldn't love. It's a corny love song by a teenage country singer. But there's something about this that I've always loved, and to be honest I'm a bit of a secret Taylor fan

161. Sugababes // Ugly // December 2005

A song one might call the last from the Sugababes golden era of 2002-2005 now. I was passed being bullied by this point in time but I definitely found it kind of helpful as puberty and general teenage behavior set in.

160. Eminem // The Way I Am // October 2000

Remember the dark side to Eminem I told you I liked? Well here is my first exposure to it; though I knew of "The Real Slim Shady" it wasn't until a root around in my elder's brother in September 2000 that I discovered his copy of The Marshall Mathers LP that I began to love Eminem. As much as I loved The Way I Am it was soon overshadowed in my affections by the superior Stan a few months later. I was only nine at this point in time so a little young to be listening to stuff such as this; think my parents took their eyes off the ball there but with four kids in the house one can't really blame them

159. The Kooks // Naive // May 2006

The summertime of 2006 seems almost eternal to me, all I remember is just day after day of sunbathing in my back garden with friends with Radio 1 on constant play. I'm sure anyone who listened to Radio 1 in 2006 knew how obsessed with The Kooks they were. I duly bought their album, and although they released another, for me The Kooks will always just belong to that eternal summer

158. Amy Winehouse // Tears Dry On Their Own // September 2007

Though everyone else seemed to be of a different opinion, I wasn't too keen on Winehouse until I heard this song. The whole Frank era had gone by unnoticed by me and I detested Rehab and didn't have much of an opinion on You Know I'm No Good or Back to Black but this song really made an impression on me. The only one of hers that ever did mind. Sorry; I can't deny her talent however and her death was such a shame and waste

157. JoJo // Leave (Get Out) // August 2004

Probably shouldn't still listen to this as often as I do  but I just love it so much damn much. Jojo has stated she doesn't like her debut era and whilst I'd agree as the rest of that album is AWFUL at least in the grand scheme of things she had a great debut single

156. Usher // U Remind Me // August 2001

Though the "Confessions" era really sold him on me, back here is where it all started for Usher & I. One of the RnB highlights of 2001 it was the first, and to date one of the only, times I was genuinally gutted a song didn't get to #1

155. Girls Aloud // The Show // July 2004

The song that really kicked off Girls Aloud's critical acclaim that would follow them for the rest of their career. I was already a firm fan by this point and "The Show" being popular amongst my peers at the time made me feel quite superior as for once I was ahead of trend

154. S Club Juniors // New Direction // October 2002

The first of 3, yes 3, entries here from the S Club Juniors who I actually quite liked in 02-03, mainly because I had a mad crush on Frankie mind but still they did release some decent songs that probably would be acclaimed if they weren't sung by the S Club Juniors! Holy crap, this song is 10 years old now! Where does the time go?

If you were too cool for Westlife back in 2002 you liked Blue. I certainly did, they were decent for a boyband

More from The Kooks now who were my favourite new band of 2006, they've got one more entry to come but it won't be for a while yet

151. Usher // Yeah // March 2004

The song that really began my Usher fixation of 2004. I was completely obsessed with him all year though "Yeah" is one of only 2 singles from the album to actually make it onto this chart.

150. Liberty X // Just a Little // May 2002

So much better than anything Hear'Say ever did, I was a big Liberty X fan for about 18 months

Great countdown, I especially like Ugly, The Way I Am, Tears Dry On Their Own, Leave (Get Out) and One Love from the last few you've posted.

I was a big Liberty X fan at the time as well, I even bought their second album!

That's when I went off them. I liked Jumping but it wasn't all that great and that dreary ballad was terrible

149. Lady Gaga // Bad Romance // November 2009

First of two entries for Gaga now, this song is also the most 'recent' to appear in the Top 200 giving you an indication of how into it I was at the time. Though she has another entry a lot higher that's down to that particular song being out a lot earlier, Bad Romance is Gaga's finest record by far a shame really it came on so early in her career because as far as I am concerned she will NEVER top this. It's epic and currently sits in my Top 20 of this decade so far as well

Not quite sure why everyone seemed to like Keane so much but Everybody's Changing is definitely their standout record in my eyes.

147. La Roux // Bulletproof // July 2009

Unpopular opinion maybe but I absolutely despised "In for the Kill" which, IMO, is very painful to listen with Jackson's shrill high vocals throughout. Bulletproof is a much better offering and granted them their first, and let's be honest, only UK #1 (#3 on my chart)
