October 3, 201212 yr Author Mr Blue Sky might just be my favourite song ever. :P Have always meant to listen to their other stuff... As much as Out of the Blue is set up to be ELO's/Jeff Lynne's finest hour - please try and listen to A New World Record - for me his greatest achievement.
October 5, 201212 yr I haven't listened to A New World Record for many years. I've only got it on vinyl. Still, it looks like an ELO-tastic night's viewing tonight. After all, there's nothing else worth watching.
October 5, 201212 yr Author I haven't listened to A New World Record for many years. I've only got it on vinyl. Still, it looks like an ELO-tastic night's viewing tonight. After all, there's nothing else worth watching. The only vinyl records I have now (and I don't know why I keep them as I've not got anything to play them on) are my ELO albums (although I have now got all the CD's up to and including OOTB). I stopped buying their albums after Discovery (which apart from two songs - I didn't really like). ANWR is most definitely my favourite album though (I prefer it to OOTB - as good as that was). Caught up Jeff Lynne's appearance on The One Show from Wednesday - and I can't wait for tonight now! Bottle of Pinot Grigo and some choccies in front of the TV tonight for me!
October 5, 201212 yr Author Watched the whole kit-and-kaboodle! Lovely night of nostalgia and appreciation of GREAT MUSIC! Loved seeing Jeff and Richard Tandy together again (although one suspects that these two have kept in touch over the years due to mutual appreciation). After watching the Rock Family Trees though - I'd really, really love Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood to get together again! Kath
October 6, 201212 yr Also among those watching - and tweeting - were Jim Bob (Carter USM), Craig Potter (Elbow) and the genius who is Bernard Butler.
October 7, 201212 yr Great show. It was really more about Lynnes work with The Beatles and Travelling Wilburys than ELO. Didnt realise he had produced Tom Petty, however I should have known as I Wont Back Down which he cowrote and produced is my fave Tom Petty song! The Rock Family Tree Show was excellent. Did they make any other programmes like that about other acts? If so they should repeat them, very enjoyable! Edited October 7, 201212 yr by fiesta
