I am finding the OCC's suggestion that Carly could be the Christmas #1 completely HILARIOUS given how it has zero chance (not technically impossible but still, zero chance) and it's not doing anything in the US.

The Conor Maynard suggestion is no better either. Or any post-album singles/singles that are released a few weeks in advance, given how high sales normally are that week.

'The Choir'? Elaboration please.

Also these odds are INVALID without Muhammad Shahid Nazir. (Unfortunate last name).

Presumably "the Choir" is whichever choir won the recent Gareth Malone series?

I've never heard of Nazir, so I can't really comment on whether the odds are valid or invalid, but he's not listed anyway

Muhammad Shahid Nazir is a Pakistan-born London-based fish salesman/singer. :D

Oh dear God at the prospect of ANOTHER shitty Gareth Malone choir.

OMG '£1 Fish' is being released as a single? *.*

Yes

X Factor auditionee and cult East London legend, £1 fish man, aka Muhammad Shahid Nazir, has inked a deal with Warner imprint label One More Tune to release his infamous song.

After over 3.5 million hits on YouTube and auditioning on The X Factor, the song from the Pakistani fish-selling market stall owner has gone viral to even bigger proportions.

A statement from his label read: “People have been carping on about the brilliance of £1 Fish Man for weeks. Now, due to popular demand, you’ll be hearing a whole lot more about him with the ofishial release of ‘The £1 Fish Song’ on December 9th for less than the cost of a £1 fish.”

Nazir moved to London's East End having left his native Pakistan and his wife and four children to discover a better life. Working on a market stall selling fish, he needed a trader’s call to grab passing trade “Have-a, have-a look, one pound fish. Very, very good, very, very cheap, one pound fish."

After a video of him was uploaded to YouTube, Nazir saw himself accelerated into the spotlight. Following the X factor appearance, his £1 Fish Song was covered separately by superstar producer Timbaland and singer Alesha Dixon. Gary Barlow and Rio Ferdinand are also fans of the track as they tweeted:

“I'm still singing £1 fish! Damn we should have put him through #mistake” – Gary Barlow

I've never heard of Nazir, so I can't really comment on whether the odds are valid or invalid, but he's not listed anyway

This is the legendary Nazir from East London. You can always catch him on Saturday mornings and afternoons in Upton Park.

All the contenders are rather bleak this year :/
I can't see it being anything other than the Hillsborough single, even my Mum is keen to download it, and she downloads about one song from iTunes per year.

Me neither. It's got all the tedious inevitability about it that used to be reserved for X-Factor winners.

Will to proceeds go to the families of the victims, or towards legal costs of suing the police/Sheffield council? :P

My understanding is that it will fund legal expenses of some sort. That's not the normal kind of cause for a charity single and I think it might put some people off.

OTOH, it might encourage them...

The Christmas Chart 2012:

01 The Justice Collective - He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother

02 Christopher Maloney - She Ain't Heavy, She's My Nan

03 Gabrielle Aplin - The Power Of Love

I think that pretty much sums this year's Christmas Chart up...

I don't think so. I think that The Power Of Love will be at around #5 at the very best because the hype surrounding the song will have mostly gone by that time in my opinion (if that makes any sense?).

01 The Justice Collective - He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother

02 Christopher Maloney - She Ain't Heavy, She's My Nan

But on a more serious note, if Chris does win I think he'll be the first X Factor winner to miss #1 completely, the kind of people voting for him won't be buying his single (middle aged women + people voting him 4 da lolzz)

James Arthur needs to win :D I didn't like him very much at the start but he's definiately improved and is the best in the competition right now.

02 Christopher Maloney - She Ain't Heavy, She's My Nan

OMG amazing.

I'd love Gabrielle to get the Xmas #1 but it's obviously gonna be the Hillsborough single.
