Posted August 15, 200618 yr In the Herald Sun today: Poor old Dannii Minogue just never gets it quite right. And her promo-riddled homecoming trip has been no different, with sales of her greatest hits album plunging to embarrassing lows. After all her red-carpet appearances in the past week, The Hits and Beyond sold an abysmal 749 copies nationally. It managed only # 67 on the ARIA chart. But gay idol Minogue shouldn't take all the blame - her record company screwed up big time by holding her instore appearance on Saturday at Virgin Megastore. The store is owned by chart rival Brazin, which a few months back stopped providing ARIA with it's sales figures. The move effectively wiped out hundreds, or possibly thousands, of sales from Minogue's official figures.
August 15, 200618 yr Author 749 for a whole country is terible. Yes its a small market blah blah blah but its still terrible no matter how you try to turn it round
August 15, 200618 yr Would it be hilarious to say, that it might cross 1,000 in the next couple of weeks?
August 16, 200618 yr I think she'll give up, she even get's better sales in the UK and most people don't really like her.
August 17, 200618 yr sales are terrible but as said its all down to her pathetic record company really screwing it all up,she may give up for a while but i dont think we have heard the last of danii in the charts just yet
August 18, 200618 yr were my earlier posts so wrong now when we hear of these sales, dannii simply does not make the cut and thats the reason for her failure and nothing else, her music career seems half hearted if anything else,a music career insists of consistent releases appearances, live performances and concerts, also includes doing lots of interviews and also remaining in the press, dannii does not have the ability so far to tick all these boxes,so may i ask should she retrun what would you like her to do different to all the other times she has tried to have a good music career ?
August 18, 200618 yr Author to be honest i dont think there is much she can do now. something def needs to change
August 18, 200618 yr well i guess this thread was a great read for system alert as to put it nicely he isnt really a dannii fan,it is very hard to know what dannii's next move musically will or should be,but i think there will def be no more singles released of the hits and beyond
August 18, 200618 yr Author i suppose you never know. love figt will be good but it depends if the record thinks there is any point in releasing it
August 18, 200618 yr well if the sun was to believed i really cant see them taking the album any further
August 21, 200618 yr 'So under Pressure' is #34 this week, so that means a chart run so far of 16-28-34
August 21, 200618 yr Just to clarify, the album has done nowhere near that badly. Those sale only account for minor retailers as HMV, Virgin, etc all withdrew from those charts. The album is actually doing quite well on their charts around the #20 to #30 mark.
