November 11, 201212 yr As I said before, nothing on this earth would entice me to listen to Radio 1 but ....... If they are worried about falling listening figures and trying to attract the 13-14 year olds, maybe someone should mention to the Bigwigs that 13-14 year olds are at school most of the day. And unless things have changed, I don't think Radio 1 is played during Double Maths  Who do they think are their main listeners from about 8am-4pm? I very much doubt it's teenagers.
November 11, 201212 yr I'm not saying he isn't successful, I am saying that for anyone under 30 he is pretty irrelevant - therefore he should be on Radio 2's playlist and not on Radio 1. But surely considering it's mainly young people who download the most - Candy's huge success proves he clearly is relevant to younger audiences too? If he was just selling albums you would have a point - but for someone of his age to have such a big hit - #1 for two weeks with likely sales exceeding 200K in total already clearly it is appealing to teenagers and 20 somethings. Most of his core fanbase would've got the single first week and the album this week - so I have no doubt loads of those downloading are not even typical Robbie fans at all. It does have a childish sound to it so it doesn't surprise me if it's appealing to kids. That Grimshaw person seems to be a tad dim though from his comments. Never heard a Robbie song? He's in his late 20's FFS - not 15. Robbie has been the number one pop act for most of Grimshaw's lifetime and he has somehow managed to avoid hearing a single track, despite "really liking him" Edited November 11, 201212 yr by De Niro
November 11, 201212 yr The Daily Mail on Rob's side for once :o Blacklisting Rob has really backfired on R1 - the media have really latched onto Robbiegate  Take That Nick Grimshaw! Robbie Williams's double delight as Take The Crown hits No.1 in album chart
November 11, 201212 yr Read post 290, page 14. I don't know who this person is. Is it another Radio 1 dj having a sly dig? http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...7472&st=260
November 11, 201212 yr Yes, she is DJ on Radio 1, she has Request show and it's right after The Official Chart show. You can listen to it on BBC site already, around 3:30 mark she is saying that Rob is still our number one and adds: "...which means that mums everywhere know how to use iTunes! That's very exciting!"
