November 11, 201212 yr I'm watching the Official 60 biggest sellers of the 90s atm on Magic and it has Bohemian Rhapsody at no.60 on 670,000 sales. What's that all about?

November 11, 201212 yr I wish they would go a chart of the biggest selling songs FROM the 90s with download sales included
November 11, 201212 yr I wish they would go a chart of the biggest selling songs FROM the 90s with download sales included If they could decide for more than a month on which "set" of 90s figures they were using then such a list would be possible! :D
November 11, 201212 yr I'm watching the Official 60 biggest sellers of the 90s atm on Magic and it has Bohemian Rhapsody at no.60 on 670,000 sales. What's that all about? I don't suppose that only counts the sales from the 90s? I'm not sure if it sold more the first time round or the second, the early 90s was quite a low sales period wasn't it?
November 11, 201212 yr I don't suppose that only counts the sales from the 90s? I'm not sure if it sold more the first time round or the second, the early 90s was quite a low sales period wasn't it? I thought this at first but on all the other 90s charts they've done (power ballads) its sales are always over a million
November 13, 201212 yr Does anyone know what the biggest selling song in the UK is? Obviously Elton John has the biggest selling single, but I was wondering if any other song combined beats this. Do They Know It's Christmas? has two versions with high sales, plus the Band Aid 2 version, and Unchained Melody has three million selling versions, plus several others that charted rather well. Was curious to see if anyone knew. Thanks.
November 13, 201212 yr I'm watching the Official 60 biggest sellers of the 90s atm on Magic and it has Bohemian Rhapsody at no.60 on 670,000 sales. What's that all about? I noticed this aswell, its a common mistake that 4music make with countdowns. Singles who's sales dont fall completley within one calender year, i.e Boh Rap sold in 1991 and also was still selling significantly in 1992- they always miss out the following years sales! However it is not clear where they have got the figure of 670k from- as Bo Rhap actually sold 718,000 to the end of 1991! Its overall 90's sales should be 970,000 (it sold 1,190,000 in 1975/6) Edited November 13, 201212 yr by fiesta
November 13, 201212 yr What they may have done, apart from ignoring 1992 sales, is reduce the multiplier from 16 to 15 as this would make the 1991 figure around 673,000.
November 15, 201212 yr What they may have done, apart from ignoring 1992 sales, is reduce the multiplier from 16 to 15 as this would make the 1991 figure around 673,000. Bit Off Topic , but I was wondering do you know what multipliers the BPI used in the early 90's (91-94). Were they the same as the ones used by Gallup? Iam thinking specifically about the average weekly sales per position the the BPI produced annually.
November 15, 201212 yr Good thinking. I'm fairly sure that the BPI used 15 as the multiplier throughout 1991-1995 in their books for the average weekly sales and overall retail sales, while the Gallup and OCC figures use 16-15-15-17-17 in these five years.
