December 16, 201212 yr Shame she doesnt have more. For some reason i always think of i should be so lucky for example as a million seller. I'm a big Kylie fan, but I'm always shocked at how the reputation of her songs seems to be greater than both the chart runs and sales. Her "Rihanna" era was during the 1st two albums of PWL. "Fever" I would say was an anamoly. Everything else has been pedestrial sales (around 300k) which is still very good, but she's a perfect example of how goodwill has raised her profile a lot more than her sales.
December 16, 201212 yr Author would be nice to see not only sales but also £££ of sales..... Kylie sells alot of physicals in her career (as have others) but if you put Rihanna singles sales of 59 and 89p singles against Kylies 2.99 and 3.99 CD singles sales..... :)I'm a big Kylie fan, but I'm always shocked at how the reputation of her songs seems to be greater than both the chart runs and sales. I do agree to a certain extent. Also a lot of her more recent single were released when physicals were dying yet still shes managed to have singles sell 100-200k even in that period. There's quite a few artists whos average single sales are 300k. Im actually shocked Kylie can still get a single that sells 320k plus. Shes been around over 25 years and to have a single sell over 300k and being around that long isnt heard of very much at all. CGYOMH sold over 300k in it's opening week. People went out and bought that from shops. I wonder how many artists would have huge 1st week sales of any songs if it was just based on digital sales.
December 16, 201212 yr Author She is a complete legend. Her songs struggle these days due to poor scheduling from her record company and also lack of consistent radio play. She gets TV/media coverage which is great for sudden bursts in slaes etc and has done well this time with big slots on x-factor etc, but for singles to often do well they need to get some good radio play, or be incredibly catchy. December 17, 201212 yr I think a duet would help get her some airplay if she dueted with someone who is big right now, Calvin Harris been just 1 example, plus that could open her to some new audience. All the lovers was a big hit for her so she can still do it. Hopefully Kylies next album can open with a killer lead single. One thing we have learned over the years is never write Kylie off, there was a few times in her career when many thought she was finished and she proved everyone of them wrong over and over, and i wouldnt out it past her to do it again.
