November 18, 201212 yr I think it would be a pity if people could no longer discover all the music that I did as a result of ChartStats. Here is every UK single I found on Spotify using ChartStats - about 12,000 in total from 1952 - 1989. Copy and paste links into your browser: 1952 - 1979: open.spotify.com/user/skywave/playlist/5uOLYZzG76mUX14RXIUPgB 1980 - 1989: open.spotify.com/user/skywave/playlist/2bicTYP41LMhRhX0FbaRMS Unfortunately I did not manage to add the 1990s in time, though UKMix have the Top 75 for the 1990s, sadly not the Top 100 like ChartStats. November 18, 201212 yr Just discovered this when using chartarchive to see the perilous run for Ellie Goulding's new album. Have written to the Chart Company about this. In my view, if you own copyright on this info (and it is indeed questionable given how the responsibility for collecting this data has changed over the years) and someone is copying your site then fair enough. But when someone has taken the time and effort to provide a resource you can't be bothered to provide yourself and you close that then you are just selfish. And all this in the 60th birthday week of the charts - they should be ashamed.
November 19, 201212 yr In other news (I'm hoping unrelated) can everyone still search polyhex for chart runs?
November 22, 201212 yr sendspace dot com slash file slash tv5gka = uk chart data :o What does this mean? :D
November 22, 201212 yr I stopped using it so much when they graphs went anyway (and was pretty much coincidentally around the time I lost most of my interest in the charts altogether) You can see graphs for charts all over the world here tho : http://acharts.us/
November 22, 201212 yr sendspace dot com slash file slash tv5gka = uk chart data Hi Matt, I know that what has happened has been a devastating blow to you and everyone who used ChartStats, but don't give up, your site can still be the most comprehensive guide to every UK single and album release and even though you are forbidden from putting it in chart form you can surely still list every new entry and re-entry week by week from the last 60 years - I don't think they can stop your site from being a guide to UK releases. At least that way everyone who wants to discover British music from the last 60 years, still can. Thanks for everything you did. Thanks to you, I discovered and rediscovered thousands of songs that I would never have been able to otherwise. I'm really sorry that OCC did this, but as I said don't let the last 8 1/2 years be in vain, you can still make the site the #1 guide to UK music, something that OCC will never ever provide. The music industry, musicians and music fans need such a resource. Meanwhile everyone there is a campaign to put pressure on the OCC to make the UK chart archive public. Please join it and together we might be able to achieve something. facebook.com/ukcharts
November 22, 201212 yr :o What does this mean? :D It's a web address where you can download the singles and albums charts from 1952 in Excel CSV format.
November 23, 201212 yr That's a massive shame, it was a great wee site. I seem to remember Polyhex had a similar problem a few years back but just came back online. And they aren't doing the Guinness Book of Hit Singles any more now are they? Could soon be difficult to solve pub arguments about which single reached higher positions etc. Thanks for the chart data zip d/l - that'll be useful to hang on to.
November 23, 201212 yr Wonderful. So you're interested in the charts? Great! Except we're going to remove every single site that features anything to do with them to make it impossible to research anything. Next up Everyhit, although that seems to have been quietly abandoned in January 2011 anyway...
November 23, 201212 yr sendspace dot com slash file slash tv5gka = uk chart data Hi Matt. Thanks for that. I just want to back up Red Kite's comments, it was sad when I first heard about your site, its a far resourceful site and lots of members on here use it, as there is no other site like it. I hope you can keep the site going in some form, just don't give up after all the hard yucker put into it.
November 23, 201212 yr Great... polyhex shut down as well?!? :drama: Although it appears to be a problem with their server so it may come back soon.
November 23, 201212 yr And I'm getting the message that the sendspace file has been removed - "The file has been deleted and it cannot be restored. Files must comply with our terms of service." The Long Arm of the OCC?
November 23, 201212 yr And I'm getting the message that the sendspace file has been removed - "The file has been deleted and it cannot be restored. Files must comply with our terms of service." The Long Arm of the OCC? That sendspace site is infected with malware! Instead of downloading the file I wanted I've ended up with something dreadful on my computer ilivid virus and searchnu browser hijacker that I did not want and is going to take ages to remove :( - I just clicked Download that was it, there was no indication that it was anything other than what I was intending to download. I am extremely careful and having used Chartstats for years I trusted this and this is the first time in 5/12 years that anything has managed to get on my laptop. It's not Matt's fault, it's the site. Edited November 23, 201212 yr by RED KITE
November 23, 201212 yr And OCC's response is to change their Facebook settings so that people can't post their concerns and delete all negative comments off the site.
November 23, 201212 yr If only there had been any warning that the site was to be taken down I would have saved every page of the ChartStats singles and album charts to my computer for my own personal use.
