What do you think of this guy? He's pretty big, the album debuted at number 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling over 242,000 copies in its first week – earning the highest first-week hip hop album sales of 2012 from a male artist, along with the best-selling debut from a male artist of the year. He's been acclaimed by Snoop Dogg and Drake as well. I think that he's going to be quite big in 2013.

Personally, I really like him and his music. I played Swimming Pools (Drank) for months and my respect for him has doubled after hearing Backseat Freestyle, which is Nick Grimshaw's "Big Thing" this week on BBC Radio 1 and is released on 09/01/2013. He's someone who I can see myself really getting on board with. :D

Here are the videos for Swimming Pools (Drank) and Backseat Freestyle:

There wasn't a thread about him yet?

I listened to this album because there was so much hype that ''real hip-hop was back''. The album was really weird to me on first listen and I don't care for all the vocal distortions but some tracks are really hot! (For instance 'The Art of Peer Pressure', 'Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe', 'Swimming Pools [Extended]'). I just don't like the long 12 minute track, I hate it when albums have one standout track that's considerably longer than the rest [/autistic trait].

Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst is the best song on the album though :o So good. The Art of Peer Pressure is amazing as well.

I was lukewarm on this when it first came out, but it's been steadily growing since. I love it.

I've given it a few listens and it definitely takes a while to sink in, but it is a glorious album. I hope he can get a lot of success with it next year particularly.

Swimming Pools is one of my favourite tracks of the year, but nothing comes close to it on the album yet unfortunately.

This album is literal perfection up to SP(D) and even after that it's incredible (but i tend to zone out after SP).

It's all finally clicked with me now and i love it. Definitely worthy of the hype it recieved.

He is going to be so big. You can just sense it from his aura!

The Art of Peer Pressure is what made think that this could be a classic.

After listening to the whole album I've no doubt. Kendrick is the new Comtpon' King

and Good Kid, M.A.A.D City is A CLASSIC.

So it seems like 'Swimming Pools (Drank)' is getting a re-release in the UK. Really hope it can beat its previous chart peak of #63. I hope we get 'Poetic Justice' at some point as well.

I can almost see why he's releasing Swimming Pools (Drank) again, but in all fairness there is so much more worthy stuff of single treatment. I'm shocked he's not releasing Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe, especially because the GagaGayz will know of it already. I am loving the album more than EVER right now too (which is saying something), and just can't get enough.

Best album of last year. Not a huge fan of some of the singles though, except B***h Don't Kill My Vibe. Poetic Justice is my least favorite on the album.

Poetic Justice definitely took the longest to connect with me, but Drake's rap is just heavenly now

If i had to scrape for my least favourite song it would probably be Collect Calls (in other words the last of the bonus tracks )

'Sherane a.k.a Master Splinter's Daughter' is definitely my least favourite song off the album, I was worried that the album was going to be shite aside from 'Swimming Pools (Drank)' and 'Backseat Freestyle' when I first listened to it because of that track being first :P Tracks 2-10 are perfect, the rest of it not quite as much, but a great album on the whole.
