Thanks TT. Bit good innit. Even if he doesn't win, a nomination is a feather in his cap and another thing to add to his CV

I agree munchkin. To receive the award would be the icing on the cake. Will will be delighted to be nominated.

Just catching up - so pleased he's been nominated. :cheer:

I see the Daily Star has picked it up with a nice little write up.

7th December 2012

Pop singer WILL YOUNG has proved himself as a West End star by landing a nomination at the upcoming Whatsonstage.com Awards among the most famous faces in London theatre.

The Leave Right Now hitmaker has made his West End debut in hit musical Cabaret and his performance has earned him a nod in the Newcomer of the Year category at the upcoming theatre prizegiving.

Another pop star-turned-actor, Billie Piper, has been nominated for Best Actress in a Play for her turn in The Effect, going up against leading ladies including Julie Walters (The Last of the Haussmans) and Sheridan Smith (Hedda Gabler).

Rupert Everett has picked up a Best Actor nomination for The Judas Kiss, and Danny Boyle's Olympic opening ceremony is up for theatre event of the year (12), alongside the premiere of Susan Boyle's musical I Dreamed A Dream.

Stephen Fry's role in Twelfth Night has earned him a Best Supporting Actor in a Play nomination, while Imelda Staunton has been nominated for Best Actress in a Musical for her part in Sweeney Todd.

Spice Girls star Melanie Chisholm has received a Best Supporting Actress in a Musical nod for her part in Jesus Christ Superstar.

The winners, to be determined by a public vote, will be announced at a ceremony at the Palace Theatre in the capital on 17 February (13).

Brilliant news - thanks for bringing the news over TT, and thanks too to munchkin for the write-up in the Daily Star AND the pic.
