2012 lists just aren't complete without. I keep thinking I've got bored of it and then NOPE, Genesis comes on and I just have to listen to the whole thing. She is just too cute in person as well.

Grimes is just too incredible for words really.

Purity Ring 'Shrines'

Belispeak and Obedear just blew me away when I fist heard them in their respective song contests but upon first hearing the album I was ridiculously disappointed, finding it far too samey and underwhelming. Over the next few weeks Fineshrine grew on my like NOTHING has ever before and then the album took me over. The final 30 seconds of Saltkin. The appearance of the male vocal in Grandloves. And the OBVIOUS high point that is the beginning of Fineshrine. So many moments. Amazing. Let's just not listen to Shuck okkkk.

 

Another female vocal coming up to take number one. I have become buzzjack predictable KILL ME NOW.

Chairlift 'Something'

One of the biggest steps forward of a sophomore album (let's just continue to ignore the existence of the first one yep) and one of the most genuinely uplifting records of the EVER. Joyous and open-hearted but never straying into the oh-so easy realm of CRINGELAND like so many others it just never fails to make me happy. Caroline Polachek being an absolute BABE obviously doesn't harm matters either. Not been this in love with an album/band in so so long.
