No worries, hopefully once I send more songs to BJSC and you like them, then you'll know more next year.

#21: JJ Project - Bounce

Chart Run: (1-3-5-8-6-6-10-10-16-18-22-29-29-33-37-33-40-38-40-xx)

Points: 395

Plays: 533

Bounce bounce....yeah c'mon let's bounce and bounce more! New Project/Boygroup/Duo JJ started the year with their infectious multi-genre song "Bounce". The song has a weird layout, varying from dubstep, electro-pop, house and all the way to rock. Who knows that one can mix all these together and still produce such a fantastic song!?

#20: After School - Flashback

Chart Run: (4-4-9-20-29-31-25-23-13-8-12-15-26-34-38-xx)

Points: 324

Plays: 546

So here is After School's comeback single, also their first song without leader Kahi in it (who graduated prior to this release). Sadly, it ended up becoming their lowest selling single in Korea but however in my humble opinion, their best song to date for the group. Hugely overshadowed by the more popular sub-unit "Orange Caramel", this is the first of the entries for members Lizzy, Nana and Raina.

#19: B.A.P - Goodbye (With Matoki)

Chart Run: (1-2-5-7-9-10-15-19-26-39-xx)

Points: 277

Plays: 592

Pre-release song for their third release of the year "No Mercy", I'm technically only here for the beginning of the song with them heavenly vocals by Daehyun. Currently my ring-tone for that sole reason as well....nothing much to add but apart from a cute MV showing them Matoki bunnies.

#18: Teen Top - Going Crazy

Chart Run: (37-2-2-3-5-5-8-8-14-17-30-33-37-37-xx)

Points: 336

Plays: 612

The only song from Teen Top which I like sadly is "Going Crazy". "To You", a more recent song of theirs is not bad but nowhere as instant as this. Very generic (not surprised since it's produced by Brave Brothers), it's a fun song with a fun dance to it. Nothing more.

#17: Bang Yong Guk & Zelo Feat. The Heritage - Never Give Up

Chart Run: (5-2-2-2-3-4-6-6-10-17-18-23-25-34-36-xx)

Points: 422

Plays: 642

Awww this brings me memories. A sub-unit of the superior group "B.A.P", this is the song which brought membes Zelo and Bang Yong Guk into my attention (also the reason why I loon them to the same extent nowadays). "Never Give Up" is a semi-rap song with the chorus sang by some classical opera singer. Oh the music video is just lush too!

#16: Orange Caramel - Lipstick

Chart Run: (1-1-2-2-5-8-10-11-11-12-18-15-15-17-18-26) [sTILL CHARTING]

Points: 484

Plays: 652

The superb "Orange Caramel" is at #16 with "Lipstick". A fun song, fun video and fun dance routine, I'd simply describe it as a Korean Romanian Pop song (if that makes sense). Entered to BJSC by Greenfroze but failed to qualify due to deductions applied for not voting, this song is possibly my 2nd-3rd most favourite song of theirs.

#15: Nicki Minaj - Starships

Chart Run: (10-1-2-2-2-5-6-7-11-22-25-26-30-29-34-31-40-xx)

Points: 414

Plays: 663

Starships......were meant to flyyyy. Nicki Minaj's BEST song to date by a MILE. Also most generic but disregard that, as I don't see that as a negative quality in a song at all. This is my second most favourite Western song of the year. Wth huge 663 plays, it's rare nowadays for me to loon for such songs and no doubt if released 2 years ago, this would've crossed over 1,500+ plays easily. The music video is sadly disappointing however and a bit messy. MORE OF POP NICKI PLEASE!

#14: 2NE1 - SCREAM

Chart Run: (2-2-2-5-16-20-20-24-32-30-39-40-40-xx)

Points: 261

Plays: 677

I'd classify this as my second most favourite song from "2NE1", sadly an artist who fails to reach #1 on multiple occasions on my chart due to blockages by "B.A.P" and "Girls' Generation". "SCREAM" is a wonderful K-Pop song with a euro-pop twist to it and a catchy verse compared to the underwhelming chorus. A Japanese single for them, I entered this to BJSC and came 13th in the final, a respectable position ever since my original choice of "I LOVE YOU", also by them, was vetoed.

#13: T-ara - Lovey Dovey

Chart Run: (1-1-1-2-4-4-7-7-13-16-27-28-32-33-37-xx-26-xx)

Points: 417

Plays: 721

The third last of T-ara's songs in the countdown, "Lovey Dovey" has a shuffling dance routine 95% of the song. A poor effort for them trying to recreate their hugely successful "Roly-Poly", it certainly didn't last anywhere as long on my chart as "Roly-Poly" did. Still 11/10 though.

#12: B.A.P - NO MERCY

Chart Run: (1-1-2-4-6-10-13-16-27-35-39-xx-32-xx)

Points: 306

Plays: 733

Fifth last of all B.A.P songs to come here. "No Mercy" is B.A.P's lead single for their third release mini-album, titled the same name. Ever since they released this song, they have disappeared from the hardcore and edgy hip hop side of them with most fans eagerly anticipating their January 2013 comeback to mark a return for this kind of sound. Certainly much better than "POWER" which had no longevity, the drums on the track during the breakdown is orgasmic.

#11: Kerli - Zero Gravity

Chart Run: (1-1-1-1-2-9-10-17-23-29-36-xx)

Points: 321

Plays: 813

Discovered to me via fellow Buzzjack member, Umi/James, this was one of Daehun's vetoed entry (and our first ever veto as well). The song is simply fantastic and Kerli's best effort to date. The Gaga-esque music video with other influences such as Japanese anime styling and characters as well as the breakdown in the song propels it to another level.

Hello shakilover! You already have, Kerli's Zero Gravity is already #10! :D

I don't get the love for 2NE1's I Love You. Too overrated on here imo.

#10: Tasty - You Know Me

Chart Run: (1-1-1-2-3-4-5-9-13-18-29-32-36-40-xx)

Points: 380

Plays: 821

Right onto the second highest rookie of the year now and onto the Top 10. Tasty's "You Know Me" is such a tune. The production on this song is VERY good accompanied by that dance routine! It was certainly one of my summer anthems during early august and up to now, it's still as catchy as I first heard it.

#09: B.A.P - POWER

Chart Run: (1-1-1-1-3-6-12-19-22-29-35-39-8-22-29-39-40-xx)

Points: 390

Plays: 832

B.A.P's fourth last entry in this countdown. "POWER" is their second release of 2012 after the highly anticipated debut of "Warrior". It did not live up to the same standards as their previous lead track and was heavily frontloaded with barely any longevity, only to bounce back up to Top 10 following their third release of 2012. To date, it's their worst lead single to date (even then, it's still 11/10) and I cannot even listen to the song fully now.

#08: T-ara - Sexy Love

Chart Run: (1-2-2-3-3-4-7-9-10-10-10-9-10-10-10-14-21) [sTILL CHARTING]

Points: 573

Plays: 857

First song to pass 500+ points here, is T-ara's robotic themed "Sexy Love". A comeback after the controversal departure of member and rapper Hwayoung, this song has flopped in Korea according to their selling standards. However for me, it's their third best song to date slightly behind "Day by Day" and "Roly-Poly". "Sexy Love" can be described as the third movement of "Roly Poly" and basically a 3.0. It also was one of my potential for BJSC, only for me to send Seo In Young's "Anymore" and Kyarypamyupamyu's "PONPONPON" instead.

#07: PSY (Feat. HyunA/MC Hammer/Glee Cast) - Gangnam Style

Chart Run: (9-9-9-8-4-3-4-4-5-4-6-7-9-13-13-14-17-19-21-19-20-22-26-30) [sTILL CHARTING]

Points: 689

Plays: 873

This includes all official versions of Gangnam Style. I do not need to explain any further on this K-Pop phenomenon of 2012. I first heard "Gangnam Style" in July when it was released on its released day, first watching as its YouTube views were around 10,000 to now 1,000,000,000+. I watched as this song sold a shit ton in Korea, and now it has sold buckloads globally. I sincerely hope K-Pop isn't seen as a 'humour' genre and not a one off thing and wish the genre can take off now due to this song's success. Anyways back to my chart related biz, surprisingly it has never reached #1 on here before. Spending 13 weeks Top 10, it was hugely successful with much longevity as point wise, it's just 11 points off 700 and the first song in this countdown to exceed 600 points. King PSY is just King PSY, no words bar that.

I'm surprised you like Lipstick or Starships! Two just fun generic pop records but yet pleased at the same time.

Yes Zero Gravity is the highest, I was hugely obsessed with the song when it got initially released hence why. Shame it got vetoed. :(

#06: Ailee - I Will Show You

Chart Run: (2-2-2-3-3-1-1-1-3-4-9) [sTILL CHARTING]

Points: 420

Plays: 886

Here comes the second and last Ailee song in the count. A comeback after the hugely successful debut song "Heaven", "I Will Show You" is a lovely power ballad song with some comparing it to Eurovision song contest entries due to the song structure. The vocals on this track towards the end of the song is just stunning. This was Daehun's last entry of 2012 which also subsequently gave us our best final peak coming in at #3 behind Delta Goodrem and Frida Sundemo and our second most points achieved in one single final ever. Another one of them artists to watch for in 2013, a lot of potential Ailee has within her.

#05: B.A.P - Stop It

Chart Run: (1-1-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-8) [sTILL CHARTING]

Points: 386

Plays: 931

Third last of B.A.P entries (yes yes they dominated my chart this year), "Stop It" is basically a "Crash Part II", one which isn't QUITE as good as the original but nevertheless almost up to its standard. The music video is rather cute as well for me and the entire structure of the song is very One Direction bubblegum-pop like. LOVE THEM!!

  • Author

#04: B.A.P - Crash

Chart Run: (1-2-3-3-4-4-6-9-8-9-7-7-8-7-7-5-5-10) [sTILL CHARTING]

Points: 633

Plays: 1002

Yes, the second last of all B.A.P song bows out here. "Crash" is slowly becoming one of my favourite B.A.P hits as this song marks a different sound from their previous edgy hip hop hardcore sound to a more 90s rock-pop One Direction styled sound. With a catchy rhythm and a repetitive hook, the only letdown of this is the lack of a music video for this release as it's only a repackage song (but nevertheless it's also their highest charting and most sold one).

#03: T-ara - Day By Day

Chart Run: (1-3-7-8-5-2-3-4-6-6-7-8-10-8-7-10-12-13-16-18-20-20-21-23-27-31) [sTILL CHARTING]

Points: 770

Plays: 1084

And for now, the last T-ara song bows out of my countdown. "Day By Day" is a FANTASTIC song similar in structure and composition to Britney's "Criminal" with the evident flute throughout the song. Also the song which caused a huge scandal and subsequently resulted in the departure of the member Hwayoung, the dance movements is simple but yet effective once performing live. I'd have to rank this song to be their second best ever (surprisingly) even though it was technically a "Cry Cry Part II".

#02: B.A.P - Warrior

Chart Run: B.A.P - Warrior (1-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-2-4-5-4-6-6-9-16-20-28-27-37-39-39-xx-13-24-38) [sTILL CHARTING]

Points: 699

Plays: 1300

WARRRRIOR!!! Yes B.A.P has just about failed to grasp the #1 on the EOY. Coming straight in at #2 is "Warrior", their debut single and song which captured my heart and my chart. An edgy hip hop K-Pop song with an extreme dance routine combined with speed raps by Zelo as well as powerful vocals by Daehyun added on with a hook, this song stayed on my EOY #1 until the next artist's comeback track came and stole their attention. Charting at #1 for 7 weeks, this is the most weeks a song has been #1 in my chart ever since Girls' Generation's The Boys spent 8 non consecutive weeks atop. Shame but no doubt B.A.P will continue to slay next year in my chart so expect them in 2013!

#01: Girls' Generation - Paparazzi

Chart Run: (1-1-1-2-2-3-2-1-3-5-7-10-14-22-27-34-40-39-xx)

Points: 524

Plays: 1373

Ooooh la la la....la la la la...YES, SNSD/Girls' Generation slays once again in 2012 with "Paparazzi", proving that they're still in the game. Previously snatching the title of EOY #1 with "Gee" in 2010, "The Boys in 2011 and now 2012, it's the first time an artist has won three EOY #1s before setting a new record (Lady Gaga and Britney Spears both hold the previous record for having the EOY #1 twice). "Paparazzi" was also an entry sent by me to BJSC which brought K-Pop to the scene in the contest, giving us our most awarded points in the final and our second highest finish in the final just behind the recent Ailee's "I Will Show You". Onto the real charts, "Paparazzi" marked GG's comeback release in Japan after more than a year absent from releasing materials there and was their last single to sadly achieve over 100k+ sales. Be expected to hear a Korean version sometime soon, as SM Entertainment will no doubtly put this song in one of SNSD's future albums as a cheap rehash to save money and gain maximum profit.
