January 1, 201312 yr Looking forward to the rest of this Adam, a few of my favourites of the year have already come up!
January 2, 201312 yr Author 16. EMELI SANDÉ | Our Version Of Events http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll39/kimdasazelle2/16ourversionofevents400.jpg 01. Heaven 09.0 02. My Kind Of Love 09.5 03. Lifetime 07.0 13. Hope 06.5 14. Read All About It Pt. III 07.5 At 16 in the albums is Scottish singer Emeli Sandé who has become one of the UK's well known singers in 2012, partly thanks to her amazing music and partly thanks to being shoved down our throats at every opportunity during the Olympics. 'Our Version Of Events' is the best selling album of 2012 in the UK and has beautiful vocals and heartbreaking lyrics. Its strengths for me are definitely the more uptempo tracks such as 'Heaven' and 'Next To Me', the latter in particular having such an infectious hook. Emeli's ballads are superb also, in particular 'My Kind Of Love' and 'River'. I'd have prefered 'River' as a single over 'Clown'. The special edition tracks are also brilliant, especially the singles 'Wonder' and 'Beneath Your Beautiful'. A fantastic debut from easily the biggest star of 2012 in the UK. 15. TAL | Le droit de rêver http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll39/kimdasazelle2/15ledroitderever400.jpg 01. On avance 06.5 02. Waya Waya (feat. Sean Paul) 08.0 03. Le sens de la vie 11.0 04. La liberté 05.5 The first foreign language album of the countdown! Whilst France went Shy'm crazy in 2012, I went Tal crazy. Her debut album was released in March last year, even though I never heard of her until Tom sent her to BJSC with the amazing 'Le sens de la vie'. I still didn't check the album out until I saw the video for 'Rien n'est parfait' on the Europopped blog. And straight away it became one of my favourite foreign language albums. Highlights for me apart from the two aforementioned singles are 'Oublie', 'Au-delà ' and 'Waya Waya' which features an unexpected appearance from The Saturdays new bessie Sean Paul. I definitely prefer this album to Shy'm's 'Caméléon' which missed the countdown. Looking foward to more Tal in the future!

This was quite the grower and I'm glad this topped the chart and not 'Live While We're Young'. My favourite Conor Maynard single can only earn him a 48 placing with 'Turn Around'. The first Sandebörg entry to qualify for a BJSC final was Ayah Marar with 'Mind Controller'. She ends up at 47 here and is my favourite entry of mine so far. Emeli Sandé's 'Next To Me' is at 46. Another unfortunate BJSC DNQ comes from Moonlight Matters and Gustaph with 'Come For Me'. The best Spanish Eurovision entry in years came in the form of Pastora Soler with 'Quédate Conmigo', which gave Spain their first top 10 since 2004 and deservedly so. A trio of Swedish delights rounds off this part, firstly with the UK #1 'Don't You Worry Child' by Swedish House Mafia. Stockholm Syndrome, née Love Generation have the bonkers and brilliant 'Pretty Girl' at 42 and just missing out on the top 40 is Darin, with his Swedish hit single 'Nobody Knows'.

What A Buzz 07.0 11. Cry Your Heart Out 06.5 12. One Of These Days 06.0 Olly Murs returned with his third studio album is as many years in 2012. 'Right Place Right Time' certainly seemd appropriate for Olly whose success has gone from strength to strength, including beating Girls Aloud to the top spot! As an album it's not as good as 2011's 'In Case You Didn't Know'. The album has its strong points but I think the problem with it is that lead single 'Troublemaker' is too good. Nothing on the album comes close to it which is a real shame. The album definitely gets better as you go on, 'Head To Toe' and 'Personal' in particular. Hopefully the album is a grower, I'll definitely be giving it a go as Olly is one of my favourite artists at the moment. 13. Madhouse 07.0 Little Mix's debut album was much anticipated by most, myself included. After winning The X Factor in 2011, could there be a new Girls Aloud on the horizon? Well I wouldn't say no, their debut is fantastic, even better than Girls Aloud's debut. 'Wings' was Little Mix wrapped up in song. A catchy beat with a chorus I couldn't stop humming cemented it as one of the best girlband singles of all time. Follow-up 'DNA' is equally brilliant, a dark, twisted affair with a choir on it! Another of my favourites is 'How Ya Doin'?', wacky pop girlbands are best at. The album keeps getting better everytime I listen and I cannot wait to see what Little Mix will do next!
January 3, 201312 yr Author Determined to finish this by the end of the week! 12. P!NK | The Truth About Love http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll39/kimdasazelle2/12thetruthaboutlove400.jpg 01. Where Did The Beat Go? 06.5 13. The Great Escape 09.0 P!nk returned last year after 2010's 'Greatest Hits... So Far!!' and is her first studio album since 'Funhouse' in 2008. I've loved all of P!nk's albums after 'I'm Not Dead' and this album doesn't disappoint. 'Are We All We Are' is a fantastic opening to the album, it's a great track live as well. Singles 'Blow Me' and 'Try' are classic P!nk. The album has some great features from Lily Rose Cooper and Nate Ruess. The Eminem collab is my least favourite from the album however. One of P!nk's greatest ballads, 'The Great Escape' is a brilliant way to close the album.  11. CARLY RAE JEPSEN | Kiss http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll39/kimdasazelle2/11kiss400.jpg 01. Beautiful (feat. Justin Bieber) 06.0 10. Tonight I'm Getting Over You 09.0 11. Guitar String / Wedding Ring 08.0 12. Your Heart Is A Muscle 07.0 I can imagine Stine from Alphabeat singing this album. It's so feelgood and makes me smile everytime I listen to it. After smash hits 'Call Me Maybe' and 'Good Time', it was a shame to see third single 'This Kiss' flop in the UK. It's such a brilliant song and equally as catchy as the two aforementioned singles. Other highlights include 'Tiny Little Bows' and 'Tonight I'm Getting Over You' which will hopefully be a single at some point. An amazing album, a must for all pop fans really.

Spread A Little Light 10.0 Kicking off the top 10 is Swedish singer Molly Sandén's first English language album, 'Unchained'. I suppose she's like the Swedish equivalent of Norway's Tone Damli, in that she doesn't really do uptempos, she loves a ballad. 2012 Melodifestivalen entry 'Why Am I Crying' and 2011 single 'Spread A Little Light' are perfect examples of her excellent ballads. Though more midtempo tracks such as 'Kill This Love' and title track 'Unchained' also really suit her voice. I hammered this album over the summer after her performances of 'Unchained' on 'Sommarkrysset'. For a first attempt at an English album, it's a solid effort, enough to make it into the top 10. 09. Something Inside 06.0 'Devotion' by Jessie Ware is probably the most indie approved album on my countdown, though it's still very much a pop album. Sultry vocals and relaxed melodies have made this my chillout album. I always listen to this if I've had a stressed day and it completely mellows me. She hasn't really had any mainstream success yet, though the album was nominated for the 2012 Mercury Music Prize, none of the singles from it have gone top 40 in the UK. My personal favourites include 'Night Light', 'Wildest Moments' and 'Sweet Talk', all very underrated singles.

'Hot Right Now' was hammered by Radio 1 at the start of the year, which is the station we had at work so I got to love the song. Mary N'Diaye is at 39 with her BJSC hit 'Big Dreamer'. I've high hopes for a fantastic Melodifestivalen entry from her, less than a month to go! :w00t: Lorqueen has her first entry at 38, the Scandinavia only single 'Crying Out Your Name'. Rihanna's recent top 5 hit in the UK, 'Stay' with Mikky Ekko reaches 37. Molly Sandén is at 36 with 'Unchained'. I suspect Nicki Minaj wanted her 'Starships' to fly higher but she'll have to settle for 35. French singer Tal has 'Le sens de la vie' at 34. More Rihanna next in the form of her collabs with Coldplay at 33 and Drake at 32. I love both of them, so it was hard to separate, in the end even the Paralympics performance couldn't beat off the gorgeous 'Take Care'. At 31 is Swedish singer Ola's only 2012 release, 'I'm In Love'. Hopefully we'll get a new album from him this year, after 2010's fabulous self titled release.

They Don't Know About Us 09.0 13. Summer Love 06.5 The biggest boyband on the planet released their second studio album 'Take Me Home' in late 2012. After their debut 'Up All Night' went to #1 in the states, 'Take Me Home' followed suit giving them a chart record. It's a fun pop record with a lot of guilty pleasures on it. First single 'Live While We're Young' may not have been the success they were looking for in the UK, however 'Little Things' surpassed all expectations and gave them their second UK number 1 single. The best song on the album by a mile is the McFly sans Harry penned track 'I Would' and would've made a much better lead single. Still very much One Direction but different enough from 'What Makes You Beautiful' and 'One Thing' which was the downfall for 'Live While We're Young'. Another highlight is the brilliant 'They Don't Know About Us'. I still prefer 'Up All Night' but I can see this growing with more listens. We all await the inevitable re-release as they're recording the official Red Nose Day single for 2013, a cover of Blondie's 'One Way Or Another'. 07. Lost In Paradise 07.0 My favourite artist of all time, Rihanna released her seventh album 'Unapologetic' after embarking on her 777 tour in November 2012. I have to say I was a little disappointed with the album when I first heard it. Luckily it grew on me very quickly, perhaps due to me hammering it to death in desperation to like it! 'Phresh Out The Runway' is still quite bad though and certainly should not be track 1. It's the ballads that shine on this album compared to the dance tracks of 'Talk That Talk' and 'Loud'. Lead single 'Diamonds' is quickly becoming one of my favourite Rihanna songs ever. Second single 'Stay' is absolutely gorgeous and it's such a simple track. 'What Now' and 'Love Without Tragedy / Mother Mary' are utterly fantastic, particularly the latter. I'd love to hear them as two separate, complete songs. The dance tracks are still there though, 'Right Now' isn't David Guetta's best work but still terrific. 'No Love Allowed' is Man Down Part.2 and another reminder of Riri's Bajan roots. It could do with a rejigged tracklisting, nevertheless another fantasitc album from Rihanna.  P.S. Why the hell wasn't 'Half Of Me' not on the standard tracklist?!?

Criminal that this song finished last but at least it saved poor brave Engelbert from being stone dead last, something I thought we'd end up with halfway through the voting. Another discovert thanks to BJSC is at 28. 'Love Stuck' was my winner anyway! :snif: Katy Perry has his first entry at 27 with 'Part Of Me'. Rita Ora is gonna party and party and party and party and party and party at 26. Even though most of Buzzjack thinks its just plain bullshit. Anggun's entry for Eurovision, 'Echo (You & I)' is at 25. One of my favourite performances on the night, no idea why! :kink: Kelly Clarkson's anthem of life is at 24, whilst Little Mix's 'DNA' reaches 23. Jennifer Lopez's greatest hits was quite the disappointment, however lead single 'Dance Again' is brilliant and makes 22. And at 21 is Popjustice's favourite cheeky chappy Olly Murs and his old mate Flo Rida. (Though they've never met). His thrashed Girls Aloud in the official charts but loses out here as they are still to come.

Threesome 07.5 Danish songstress Medina released her second English language album 'Forever' in 2012. A mixture of new songs and English re-records from her Danish language album 'For Altid' in 2011. Lead single 'Forever' was the long awaited English version of 'For Altid'. I have to say I prefer the Danish version but maybe that's because I'm so used to it by now. Also I'm a sucker for songs in a foreign language. The first half of the album is definitely much stronger than the second. In particular 'Hotels' is a lovely ballad in contrast to the dance tracks preceding it. 'Boring' contains one of the best opening line to a song ever, 'If I told you that, that I f***ed your best friend'. The rest of the album is pleasant if a bit filler. There's a English version of 'Synd for dig' on the special edition released in December that I still need to check out too. 05. Vart tog du vägen? 07.0 06. Igen och igen 08.0 07. Världen snurrar 11.0 08. Ett hjärta 06.5 09. The botten is nådd 07.0 10. Nästa säsong 07.5 Despite a few setbacks along the way, Lena's first solo studio album in nearly 7 years, was finally released in February 2012. And it certainly made up for the long wait! 'Du följer väl med?' is a great club track with a huge chorus. Which seems to be quite a theme for the album as the same can be said for 'Igen och igen' and the title track. 'Idiot' is a bit different for LenaPh. but a refreshing break to all the dance. The only English track on the album, 'Live Tomorrow' is a cover of the Laleh song which Lena did on her season of 'Så Mycket Bättre', which actually probably helped the album to be finally released in the first place. Please don't leave it too long next time Lena!

Any Love That Is Love 07.5 HARLOT! After such an unjust 5th place in her semi final in Melodifestivalen with 'The Girl', Charlotte released a first class album of the same name. High energy dance tracks and beautiful pop ballads. The title track was and still is magnificent. I can't help but sing along to that chorus! (though badly.) Follow-up 'Little Braveheart' featured Eurovision's unjust flop, Kate Ryan and is the European version of J-Lo's 'On The Floor'. Though the dubstep breakdown is a little on the short side, it's still a fabulous Euro anthem! Other big sing-along raves include 'In The Sun' and 'Dark To The Light', whilst you can have a bit of calm down to 'Just Not Tonight' and 'Any Love That Is Love', both superb. If only she'd have had two or three more tracks and this album would definitely be in the top 3. She also loses marks for appearing bald on the cover. 03. LOREEN | Heal http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll39/kimdasazelle2/3heal400.jpg 01. In My Head 09.0 02. My Heart Is Refusing Me 10.0 03. Everytime 10.0 04. Euphoria 11.0 05. What can one say? The most anticipated debut album since? I don't know. What I do know though, is that 'Heal' is bloody amazing. After smashing Melodifestivalen and Eurovision with 'Euphoria', Europe went Loreen crazy, with even the UK charting the contest's winner in their top 3! The album kicks off with the infectious 'In My Head'. The track certainly does get in your head, however I feel the production could be slightly better, there's a preview clip which for some reason sounds better than the finished track? Debut single 'My Heart Is Refusing Me' had a makeover as well as 2011 single 'Sober', although the latter isn't as good as its original, whilst the former certainly had a kick up the arse to take it to the next level. Sweden's follow-up to 'Euphoria' was 'Crying Out Your Name', which has an Emeli Sandé feel to it. 'Sidewalk' has haunting screams of 'I said no!'. The title track is a great way to end as well, a gorgeous ballad. An amazing debut from what was such high expectations, what will Loreen do next? A tour hopefully! 'Wide Awake' was the perfect end to what was a perfect single campaign, although I'd have liked a 'Hummingbird Heartbeat' release as well. 'One Last Time' showed a different side to Agnes after her dance hits such as 'Release Me' and became one of her biggest hits in Sweden. 'Little Braveheart' by European divas Charlotte Perrelli and Kate Ryan is at 18, a single release which got cancelled in favour of a ballad from Charlotte's album, probably due to Agnes' success with her ballad effort. Double Carly Rae next, as her collab with Owl City is at 17, whilst international smash 'Call Me Maybe' is 16. Lena Philipsson is spinning at 15 with 'Världen snurrar'. Another case of so close, yet so far for Charlotte Perrelli as another of her single crashes out at number 14. Unlucky Danny Saucedo is at 13 after losing Melodifestivalen for the second year running, most recently with 'Amazing'. David Guetta and Sia have already charted with 'She Wolf' at 135, however their first output together, 'Titanium' goes all the way to number 12. And at 11 is Loreen with her revamped version of 2011 single 'My Heart Is Refusing Me'. Get over to the UK and promote it Lorqueen!

Nothing Else Matters 09.0 Just missing out on album of the year, is Swedish pop diva Agnes and her eagerly anticipated follow-up to 'Dance Love Pop'. 'Veritas' is a pop masterpiece and should be respected as such. Even though 2011 single 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart' has been stupidly ommited, it's hit after hit after hit. Big choruses and the strings that made 'Release Me' an international smash are the main themes of the album. The run from 'All I Want Is You' to 'Human Touch' is just perfection. 'Into The Sun' is another club anthem and 'Nothing Else Matters' is a beautiful ballad, perfect to end on. This album is ready for an international market, though I fear she's missed the boat on that one, especially in the UK which is a shame. There are rumours of a re-release this year, as she's been in and out of the recording studio since the album was released last September. And if the tracks are as good as these then bring it on! 01. Ever since 'Het' was released as a single in 2011, I've been dying for new Timoteij material. I was never overly fussed over them in 2010, 'Kom' aside, which is still very much a MOMENT nearly 3 years on. But when I heard 'Stormande Hav', their 2012 Melodifestivalen entry, I knew they were going to come back stronger. Even though they lost out on a place in the final to Top Cats, in one of the worst AC's ever, :manson: the album which followed stunned me. I knew it was going to be better than 'Längtan', but I had no idea just how much better. 'Ta mig till sommaren' is a nod to the debut and in some ways is like a transistion between the two albums. Things really kick off with title track 'Tabu', a Swedish folk girlband song with dubstep! 'Högre', 'Puls' and 'Glöd' are yet more anthems, in particular the first 20 or so seconds of 'Glöd'. More laid back tracks like 'Säg det om igen' and 'Faller' and also superbly excellent. 'Bara för en natt' is widely compared to Ace of Base's 'All That She Wants' and you can see why. Even though it was released in May I'm still hammering this album and cannot wait for the next Timoteij album, hopefully it'll be along the same lines as this album, it's perfect for them!
