U2 fans to hit capital in case Bono appears

HUNDREDS of U2 fans are expected to pour on to Dublin's Grafton Street on Christmas Eve in anticipation of Bono leading a star-studded busking session.

The U2 singer has thrilled late-night shoppers and revellers every Christmas Eve for the past three years with his impromptu appearances, alongside the likes of Glen Hansard, Mundy and Damien Rice.

The event is seen as the centrepiece of a huge drive by The Simon Community's 'Sing for Simon', which has brought together more than 100 groups and choirs to sing carols since the start of December.

Yesterday, over 500 people kicked off a 24-hour carolathon in the capital, which involves singing Christmas favourites non-stop to raise badly needed funds for the homeless.
