Another song I mistook for being 'dull' at first but it clicked just before becoming a UK #1. Labrinth's parts are very nice but Emeli really brings it to life for me.

Already we have another UK #1 and another contender for best video of the year. So easy to sing-a-long (and dance) to, got a bit annoying but out of this years big hits (mainly the big three), this is the one I'd rather listen to.

Umi will be so proud. Lana can make a great, catchy, non-dull song. Who knew?

Perhaps the most underrated song in my top 40. I'm not fully sure why I love this song so much but it's easily my favourite from Rebecca. I also like the word-play, pretending she's singing "you're too good, Toulouse", referring to the French city where I lived for a week a couple of years ago.

Yes, "Call Me Maybe" isn't the highest Carly track here, and even "This Kiss" has been topped by something else! This one has the advantage of not becoming annoying - because it flopped.

Who isn't. And so it begins.

No Griff. That's one of hundreds.

A great proper debut single from the band with a "don't listen to the haterz" message but I have tired of it a bit now.

An even better girlband single right here with some retro influence and a more subtle chorus which means it isn't as annoying.

#33 Carly Rae Jepsen - Curiosity

The best song from her album even in a weaker form. It's just so catchy and the chorus doesn't seem as clunky as "Call Me Maybe" or "This Kiss", it all flows nicely.

Still one of the best generic club bangers of the year but it is overplayed and a bit annoying now. Really gets the people going.

Swedish fittie Danny Saucedo falls just before the top 30 with his amazing (hahaha) Melodifestivalen entry. Forever the bridesmaid. :( Don't give up Danny boy, you'll get there someday.

He's cute I tell ya!

This actually offends me.

Lana can make a great, catchy, non-dull song. Who knew?

Everyone except you (and Rob but he doesn't count)!

Gingerist.

Emeli's highest entry, I lovee the lyrics to this. I find it to be quite the inspirational song and even better than the original.

Another 'highest', but this one comes out as the top k-pop entry. Yet another obsession from the summer, it peaked at #3 on my chart and stuck around for quite a while but judging by positions here, it was the 'song of summer' that I was least obsessed with, since all the others will be top 10.

Beyoncé's surrogate delivered such a simple yet effective song, stunning. Her sister could only dream.

4th place on The X Factor 2011, Misha brought a better song than the winners themselves. There's a beautiful quality about it without it being a proper ballad.

Excellent pop song but was a collab between Canadian heartthrob Justin and Nicki ever not going to be a winning combination?

SHM saved the best for last and thankfully the sales agree. What a great high note to end on, the best dance track of the year.

Well 2NE1 is clearly the best thing you have to offer on your chart, whereas all the songs above them in mine are a lot better than "I Love You". ^_^

Justin Bieber looks like an old man at that picture. Oh dear.

 at you both.

Best BJSC winner of the year YES. Very catchy, very Swedish, Icona Pop help to make this song.

Such an up-beat, summery track. Eric slaying all other Swedish males as per.

Another BJSC entry, my 3rd favourite of the year if we exclude one of my own. Came within a couple of points of winning and should've won to become the best winner of the year but hey, it was my 12 pointer so I did all I could for it.

Ruby Frost from New Zealand was another BJSC entrant, didn't do quite as well but at least it qualified unlike her second entry oops. And it'll always have a place in my heart which is what matters most, right Eyes.

Oh Charli :( Someday she'll get her moment in the sun.

The biggest foreign language hit here, spent 2 weeks at #1 in my chart and what a moment the performance is. As much as I love "Euphoria" and something was needed to beat the grannies, it would've been amazing to see this on the Eurovision stage.

Great euro dance-pop sounding song, FEM continue to be almost as rubbish as ever but King Justin's chorus more than makes up for that.

The girl who I disliked on The X Factor back in 2010 continues to get better and better, with "Oath" being her best song yet and tiding us over nicely until her 2nd album. Shame a UK release isn't looking very likely anytime soon.

Our first appearance from the queen comes in the form of a song taken from The Hunger Games soundtrack. It did get a couple of weeks at #1 back in March, holding her own track "Safe & Sound" at #2, but it's the other that manages to sell the most in the long-run.
