Posted January 1, 201312 yr So a new year, a new transfer window! Whose going to be doing business, and who'll be keeping quiet? Will we see a lot of money spent this year with clubs knowing about the Premier League TV bumper boost money in the Summer? Or will clubs be a little bit more conservative. I think this window will be fairly active. Strurridge to Liverpool looks set on, and there's a lot of talk about Demba Ba at the moment going to Chelsea.
January 1, 201312 yr I'm looking forward to the transfers to Swansea! I doubt that they'll get anyone as good as Michu though, who's been out for the last few games because of an injury. But yeah, I hope that Swansea get some exceptional players to keep their reputation up! :D
January 1, 201312 yr If Chelsea are interested in Ba then that surely rules them out for Falcao - not financially but just because with both of them plus Torres their strike force would be ridiculous. In which case unless City can offload Balotelli quickly and submit a huge bid I can see Athletico holding onto him. With West Ham we could do with a top striker but there's no point buying a decent one with no proven scoring record, we already have four of those. Another defender and maybe a holding midfielder to cover for Diame would be good, we've been linked with Jack Butland but Jussi has done a decent job so far so a new keeper can wait until summer.

You would think Chelsea need two strikers though. They're selling Sturridge, and they already needed another striker regardless. I wouldn't expect Falcao to move until the summer, but I expect they will do some sort of swap deal with Torres in the summer for him. Makes sense really. Ba would be a good signing for them, but he's also disappearing for a month to the ACN isn't he?

January 1, 201312 yr Author Senegal didn't qualify. Fair enough. Good signing for £7m whoever gets him (if he leaves Newcastle). I just wonder if those knees will hold out for him. Newcastle must be giving him miracle pills.

January 2, 201312 yr think we need about 4 players to stay up. these are: -neil danns- desperately needed for survival -right sided centreback - left mid -mcmanus  pl wise, i can see tom ince and wilfred zaha being snapped up.

I think both will go in the summer personally. I see both Palace and Blackpool wanting to keep their assets to gain promotion, and then sell them in the summer, even if it is a lower price. I think Ince is a good signing, but quite a way away from the quality Liverpool need, although admittedly he could just be a 1/2 year stop gap signing. He's come on leaps and bounds since Liverpool allowed him to go. I know Liverpool will get a lot of stick if they sign him after letting him leave for pennies, but Real Madrid and Barcelona do this all the time. It's a good business model.
January 2, 201312 yr Author So Ba to Chelsea looks all but confirmed for £7m. Sturridge has gone to Liverpool £12m. And both QPR and West Ham fighting it out over Joe Cole... God knows why!

I've not seen enough of Ince to comment, I saw a few youth games and while he was good I was unsure whether he'd make it at Liverpool. He's apparently come on leaps and bounds though. Got a proper good mentality like his father too, and can score goals from the wide forward position, which is why I'd guess Brendan Rodgers wants him.
January 3, 201312 yr Joe Cole to West Ham Personally I wouldn't bother signing Ince until the Summer. We need players that can improve the first XI rather than squad players That also applies to Butland. Although, I would't mind us signing him and then sending him on loan for a season or two in the same way Chelsea have done with Courtois at Atletico Madrid
January 3, 201312 yr It appears that today Balotelli and Mancini were involved in a training ground bust-up after pictures show Balotelli and Mancini in a altercation and having to be seperated by team-mates and staff. Surely that's it for Balotelli as a Man City player?

It would mean we wouldn't be relying on Sterling week in week out. I don't rate Butland personally either, think he's over hyped by the media, but £4m is a bit a steal of price. Surely that's it for Balotelli as a Man City player? I think there's been too many cases where Balotelli should have gone. I think Mancini wanted him gone a long time ago. I personally believe it's the powers that be that are keeping Balotelli at the club... for that reason I can see Mancini being sacked at the end of the season.
January 3, 201312 yr Marouane Chamakh to West Ham initially on loan. Balotelli is a great player and certainly raises the profile of the club within the media, but you have to draw the line and say that arguably he's only the 4th best striker at the club. Aguero and Dzeko will give it everything with no histrionics and Tevez has immersed himself into the squad well again after his tantrum. Sell him and get on with it (although I will miss the stories about him!).

Sell him and get on with it (although I will miss the stories about him!). Chamakh and Joe Cole!? Dear God, what are West Ham thinking... I guess it's probably the fact that both Liverpool and Arsenal are offering to pay a large sum of wages! The thing is about Balotelli is that he needs a manager that will nuture him. Mourinho was definitely not that, and I'm not sure about Mancini. You have to say this is not the first Manchester City player to kick up a fuss, although don't bite the hand that feeds and all that.
January 3, 201312 yr Lower league, Paddy Madden has left Carlisle for Yeovil. No surprise as he has done rather well there on loan.

I don't rate Butland personally either, think he's over hyped by the media, but £4m is a bit a steal of price. I'm happy for us to sign Ince, but if we're short on money I'd rather we went for a first team regular first rather than someone who'd probably be rotated. Kevin Gameiro from PSG seems to be the player most linked Ideally it'd be Sturridge Suarez and possibly Gameiro as first choice with Borini Sterling Downing Assaidi and Ince as second choice I agree that Butland is overrated, but if we are looking for a young goalkeeper £4m isn't a huge fee. Although, I'm sure there'd be a lot of competition if he were to leave for that amount
