The new season of American Idol starts off with 3 new judges. After the departure of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez after 2 seasons the judging panel goes back up to 4.

Joining Randy Jackson will be Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.

What do you think of the judging panel. I think much better now they've got rid of Jennifer (screechy voice) Lopez.

In the UK it is no longer on ITV2 - it is now on 5* which is a channel associated with Channel 5 - not sure if 5* is on Freeview or not.

Its not on ITV2, its on f***ing 5* for some reason :(.

So? Everybody in the UK has 5* anyway, so it's not exactly a problem

It will hardly get the same ratings though!

Did it get good ratings anyway? ITV2 will just want rid of it so that The X Factor USA gets more viewers :P

If Channel 5 bought the rights to it this time, they should have put it on the actual Channel 5 instead of 5*? Surely it would have done reasonably well in the ratings for them..

Thats what I thought too. Strange. Still really excited for it though, purely for Nicki and Mariah of course.

Mariah was absolutely hilarious, love her! As much as it pains me to say it Nicki was slightly underwhelming and kind of annoying, but she seems passionate at least. And I love her facial expressions.
I LOVED IT, it was soooo good, and I actually really like all four judges, so funny - gonna watch this whole series for sure, which I haven't done since like... Fantasia's year.
I loved Mariah, she is such a diva. Nicki was rather irritating I can see how people would clash with her after sitting next to her all day.

Mariah was brilliant but Nicki Minaj ARGGGH!

All she seemed to do was mess about and she looked a right tramp. If I had been Mariah I would have clocked her one.

I felt sorry for Keith having to sit between them. Come on Randy take control.

Also for a 2 hour show there wasn't many auditions shown. First half hour was all Nicki Minaj messing around and then we had the same old uninteresting life stories.

What people want from auditions shows are auditions.

I might skip it now till the Hollywood shows.

Loving Nicki so much so far!! The whole panel is great! :D
Well I'm the complete opposite I'm loving Nicki as judge she is so funny and quirky but she makes some very good points where as I think Mariah is quite annoying and up herself a bit and I think she always she tries to outdo Nicki.

Nicki Minaj throwing a tantrum last night. She's so irritating and so talentless compared with Keih & Mariah.

Sooner they get rid of her the better. Bring back Kara

Can you blame her for storming of though ok she could of maybe handled it better but she had a good point they pickingapart the girl just for being honest and saying she tried the country thing which should not matter that auditions she had a good voice and that is all that matters. Mariah and Randy were being very rude as well with trying to cut her off and lot letting her have her say.

Just caught up on last night's American Idol and was really sad to see Stephanie get eliminated in that last-minute sing-off, she was my favourite :( The girl who sung first with the piano and her original song was brilliant too so glad she got through!
