Hello all. Above are the lovely covers of the loveliest albums of the year. I'll be editing in links to my favourite tracks from the albums over the next few hours so click on the album covers for samples of the delights within. So difficult to do this year though, lots of decent stuff but little that truly rose past being very good into amazing territories. As a result, this is basically a list of albums that I've found myself listening to most often, my soundtrack of 2012 if you will.

Songs to follow here at some point in the future. Definitely before September.

omg YES

All those FAKE FANS namely LEWWWW and 152CHRIS can like LEARN something from this.

Love the presentation.

Good to see brother & sister Wainwright there, both albums are great.

What's #5? It looks intriguing!

Wonderful presentation D* and some good albums too! Lana, Ellie, Jessie Ware & Of Monsters & Men were all great

Well QUITE! It wasn't even close for me tbh, kin was just miles ahead of the rest - partly due to getting hooked on the release strategy and falling in love with each song individually as a single. Really worked, can't remember the last time I loved an album so completely from beginning to end.

:D

Wonderful stuff and similar to mine I'd say (if I bothered making one).

Thank you. ^_^

If you did bother to make one, which albums would you likely include that I have not? I'd be intrigued to know what I've missed during the year...

As Pavel said, it's the Irrepressibles with 'Nude'. I think you may enjoy it, it's all sweeping and swooning...

I've grown to really love both Wainwright albums after initially being a touch disappointed with them. I think Rufus' is as good as Release The Stars even if it never reaches the heights of the material on the Want projects. Martha's I think is her best album to date, certainly consistent from beginning to end in quality and suitably variable in sound to keep it interesting also. Properpina is growing on me all over again, such a beautiful tribute to her mother.

Why thank you, most kind! To be honest, it's just an excuse not to write any commentary as I knew I'd never finish it if I tried to compile some sort of epic countdown. :D

Do you care for any of the more alternative albums? Or have you heard any of them? I'm never sure how far your musical taste strays into these territories, although I do know from BJSC that your entries can be quite alt at times...

I've seen that Cat Power album popping up EVERYWHERE so I think I definitely need to give it a listen. So many albums here I didn't know/expect you to like! And also a lot that I seem to have totally missed ooops.

(and definitely forgot you were such an iamami fan. it feels obligatory to band around CONSTANT HYPERBOLE if you are)

I confess I haven't heard any of them, but I'm certainly not opposed to listening to anything alternative if I really like the lead singles (I do intend to Kyla la Grange's, there's a lot of albums I say I should check out, but rarely ever get round to it  )

Oh BLESS YOU LEW for helping my songs list avoid the dreaded no responses situation that I was expecting.

Sulk was by FAR my favourite discovery from BJSC last year so you have done yourself proud chez Dand.

10 #1 tracks making your end of year top 50 list. How very precise. How very Dandy* :D

Or are they just the 10 most popular, didn't 'Spectrum' top your chart?

A few of them don't make my top 50 of the year despite making #1. I sort of view No Light No Light as being 2011 while Rachel Sermanni got there in my hype for hosting BJSC and, whilst I do like it, it doesn't warrant a top 50 end of year placing. National Anthem is the other, again I do like it and it was very close to making the final cut.

Oh dear, it's only just dawned on me that the brackets represent their end of year position. I thought it meant number of weeks at #1 - was going to say I didn't realise Santigold spent 10 weeks at #1 :drama: -_- (Hits fail)
