This Week In Billboard Chart History:

Lady Gaga Lands Hot 100's 1,000th

No. 1

http://dam.cloud.kargo.com/access/show/id/MobileWAP.Billboard:ThisWeekInBillboard8_1393247719/ds/resize/width/160/file.jpg

Your weekly recap celebrating significant

milestones from more than seven decades of

Billboard chart history

Feb. 24, 1973

Roberta Flack crowned the Billboard Hot 100

with "Killing Me Softly With His Song." The

Fugees' cover reigned over R&B/Hip-Hop

Airplay for five weeks in 1996.

Feb. 25, 1995

What's Madonna's longest-leading Billboard

Hot 100 No. 1? Perhaps surprisingly, it's not

any of her signature '80s songs like "Like a

Virgin" or "Material Girl" (the latter of which

peaked at No. 2). Nope, it's ballad "Take a

Bow," which began its seven-week command

19 years ago today.

Feb. 26, 2011

Making a fitting grand entrance at No. 1, Lady

Gaga's "Born This Way" became the Billboard

Hot 100's landmark 1,000th No. 1. The same

historic week, the "Glee" cast passed Elvis

Presley for the most Hot 100 chart hits. To

date, the Fox TV troupe has charted a record

207 entries.

Feb. 27, 1988

George Michael began presiding over the

Billboard Hot 100 with his gospel-tinged

"Father Figure," the second of four No. 1s he

tallied from his debut solo album "Faith."

Feb. 28, 1998

Amid buzz for the film "Titanic," Celine Dion's

love ballad from the movie, "My Heart Will Go

On," roared onto the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1

for the first of its two weeks on top.

March 1, 2003

After leading with the uptempo No. 1s

"Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi," Avril Lavigne

proved her way with a ballad, too: "I'm With

You" spent its fourth and final week atop the

Pop Songs chart 11 years ago today.

March 2, 2013

A year ago today, Baauer blasted in at No. 1

on the Billboard Hot 100 with EDM/trap track

"Harlem Shake. He had produced the song in

his bedroom studio on Feb. 5, not expecting

the onslaught of fan-made viral videos that

would follow. "It's literally unbelievable,"

Baauer said upon the song's coronation. "It's

amazing to have this track recognized by the

world."
