ROBBIE Williams has been nominated in the best single category of this year's Brit Awards.

The Tunstall-born singer's number one hit Candy is being considered for the prize alongside offerings from Olly Murs, Adele and Emile Sandé.

The awards celebrate the best British music from the last twelve months- with the shortlist being compiled by music industry officials.

One Direction, Emeli Sande, Robbie Williams & More To Perform At BRIT Awards. Mumford & Sons and Muse will also take to the stage

The 2013 BRIT Awards are shaping up to be a star-studded event with the likes of Emeli Sande, One Direction and Robbie Williams all confirmed to perform at the ceremony.

Scottish singer Emeli, who is up for an impressive three awards, will be performing tracks from her smash hit debut album Our Version of Events, including 'Read All About It' which she performed at the 2012 London Olympics. (did she? I must have missed that...)

Also taking to the stage at London's O2 Arena next month will be heartthrobs One Direction, who recently released their second album, Take Me Home and have been nominated for British Group. ( surely not? )

Confirming earlier reports, 'Candy' singer Robbie Williams will also entertain audiences at the ceremony, which will no doubt make for interesting viewing.

Following on from his chart-topping album, the hitmaker is set for even more success this year with his upcoming European stadium tour on which he will be supported by Olly Murs. Other performers include folk band Mumford & Sons, Muse and Ben Howard.

The nominations were announced on Thursday by Nick Grimshaw <_< at The Savoy Hotel, where the likes of Rita Ora, Tom Odell, Emeli and Jessie Ware were also in attendance.

The 2013 BRIT Awards will be taking place on February 20.

Amazed how Rob isn't in the best male category! So a number 1 single and album and sell out arena and stadium tours isn't enough to at least warrant a nomination?! Crazy decision

I haven't even heard of 2 of the 5 people nominated for Best Male. I'm getting soooo old.... :drama:

Wouldn't worry about it, there's quite a few names on some of those lists I've never even heard of before.

I hope Coldplay get best British live act :cheer:
