January 14, 201312 yr The only decent point about it...which is unreflected here is the 4pm Weekly iTunes Top 10. The Big Top 40 kick off the show with it & it changes at 6pm, for the "live" itunes chart...Which isn't really live, as it doesn't feature the complete sale of Sunday. However this was the iTunes of the week top 10 at 4pm: 10 PSY 09 ONE DIRECTION 08 BRUNO MARS 07 PITBULL 06 CALVIN HARRIS 05 JAMES ARTHUR 04 RIHANNA/EKKO 03 DAVID BOWIE 02 TAYLOR SWIFT 01 Will I. Am That is the only part of the showt that has any merit. The rest is purely fiction, considering 50Cent were really #2 in the 6pm lockdown (unoticed by the daft team at Big Tit 40, due to not combining the 2 versions). The only time the whole chart makes any sense is on the Year End countdown, where they don't include any airplay & just play the iTunes Top 40 of the year. Now, if they did the iTunes Top 40 of the week, every week (without any daft airplay) it would actually make sense... Now you see, lovely Mike Robinson's chart is based on just a Sunday flush (Big Top 40 can't do it, for airplay restrictions & being stale): Sunday 13th January 2013 50 38 CAN YOU HEAR ME - WILEY 12WKS 49 48 RADIOACTIVE - IMAGINE DRAGONS 48 NE ANIMAL - CONOR MAYNARD the 20 year old, Brighton & Hove Albion supporter...yes he's the one! January 14, 201312 yr This sums up the corruption of the Big 40 chart, and Bauer/Global. Act X is on our label....hype them and *rig* their placings. Anyone have a top 40 of the airplay so we can combine and see if the figures *really* add up?

January 14, 201312 yr Er.....Lawson are about 60th on Itunes and low 30s in airplay. That does NOT aggregate to 17! Did they add Facebook/Youtube likes?
January 14, 201312 yr Independant Radio Airplay is totally different to the overall Airplay chart & biased beyond belief. It could never be compared. All it is based on is the 150 crap stations, that run the crap. Even more so, considering Lawson didn't get released until Saturday & on the original 4 - 6pm Big Top 40, entered at #16! Before being pushed down to #17, after 50Cent charted. It was exactly the same with Robbie Williams "Different". It made #15 on Big Top 40! Edited January 14, 201312 yr by davetaylor
January 14, 201312 yr Er.....Lawson are about 60th on Itunes and low 30s in airplay. That does NOT aggregate to 17! Did they add Facebook/Youtube likes? It's only airplay of the stations that carry the chart though. The Airplay chart itself also includes all BBC stations, XFM, Smooth, Absolute etc. so will be wildly different.
January 14, 201312 yr all of which confirms, once again, and for all the times it annoys us, that the OCC and a sales only chart is the only one worth following.
January 14, 201312 yr all of which confirms, once again, and for all the times it annoys us, that the OCC and a sales only chart is the only one worth following. Very true. Even if Slappy Spears is #1. I don't think the likes of Absolute or Smooth would play Lawson. The latter played Will Young's last singles :)
January 14, 201312 yr all of which confirms, once again, and for all the times it annoys us, that the OCC and a sales only chart is the only one worth following. I think it does depend on choice though. Big Top 40 only makes sense from 4 to 4.30pm. Then fantasy pushes in. Mike goes for the week ahead formula of the defunct Network Chart & does (on many occasions get many new number ones, a week early). A shame the programme was shipped out to the wrong presenter, via a production team in Bristol & a mate of Scott Mills. Which made it cliquey & a carbon copy of Reggie Yates style of presenting i.e. he don't know what he's f***ing saying! Is there space for a chart, that can be ahead of the rest? I think so. Big Top 40 don't carry it off, because of different Airplay brands. By the way Smooth Radio's Airplay doesn't get included in that chart, as they don't take it. It's only the stations that take it, whose Airplay is included. As in, it might sell enough to make #11, but with little or no Airplay on the dodgy "playlists", it only makes #31. The future does lay in Internet Radio, but the time & climate are wrong, for it to take off. Lack of advertising & that that is available is being nabbed by moneygrabbing gobshite Radio, like Capital & Heart etc...All owned by Global Radio (who have just bought Smooth, which is likely to be swallowed by Gold to become Smooth Gold). Give it 10/20 years & the Internet Radio will be bigger. The Internet Chart will be the one, everyone's listening too & Big Top 40s 2.5million & Radio One's 1million, will just be a memory. In contrast slip back to 1984 & Radio One have 14million listeners, for Simon Bates Top 40. By 1985, Richard Skinner only has 11milllion. Jimmy Savile's show had 12million at that point on Radio one! Strangely both were produced by the awful Dave Price, at that point. The Network Chart nicked 3million listeners from R1, in one year. By the end of the 80s, R1 had sunk to under 10million. 1994 & worse 5million for R1. 6million for Independant Radio (with Neil Fox). Overall R1 have lost 4million listeners in 19 years, compared to Independant Radio, that have lost a smaller percentage. Makes you think really. But there is an answer Radio One, made a big mistake somewhere after 1993. Was it the sacking of everyone over 40? Probably. Edited January 14, 201312 yr by davetaylor
January 14, 201312 yr 48 NE ANIMAL - CONOR MAYNARD the 20 year old, Brighton & Hove Albion supporter...yes he's the one! This is his 4th top 50 single in the UK Restricting it to people with some links to the music industry there's also Norman Cook, Tony Hawks (Stutter Rap  ) and Jamie Theakston. And me of course :D
January 14, 201312 yr A weekly chart should cover the period from the cut-off point for the previous week's chart. The Big Top 40 doesn't even meet that basic requirement.
